Alan Decker was the lead photographer for me for a dozen years at San Diego Metropolitan magazine. This site is a collection of great photos, some he took for us and most he took for others. The composition and look of the photos is great for studying how you want your photo to look, even when you aren't hiring a pro like Alan to do the work.

While no place should be the only place one goes to, or subscribes to, for information on the rapidly spinning social media scene that is changing our lives, mashable is at the top of my heap of places to start. My only complaint: I spend too much time reading what they post.

When it comes to finding my kids busy at least a few productive things during the summer, this site has been our answer for a couple years. Also good for projects at school. I learned about it from a teacher at the school. Upside: tons of choices and fast. Plus discounts seem solid. Downside: Kind of an old-school (no pun intended) look and you have to click through a few pages sometimes to find what you are looking for.
