This site is pretty nicely laid out. And seems to be effective at finding roommates. BUT this site is a professional scam. I made a listing looking for a roommate at our house. I received multiple messages and with curiosity I paid for a 3 day membership to read and reply. So it seems that the responders now need to pay to read my messages if they don't put their contact info. That a scummy tactic. If one side paid, why don't allow other end to read and reply no matter what.
BE WARNED! This site was built to function as as professional SCAM.

Roommates.com is not a scam. We have assisted countless members in finding a roommate with the free portion of the site. All members are welcome to post their contact information in the free messages they send to other members so that only one party would need to pay in order for you to connect outside of the website.
