I'm a minor and I was traveling alone to Guadalajara this past weekend for my grandparents 50th anniversary. On my way there, I had two bags. I checked one in and the other was a small carry on. At the Oakland airport, they offered to send my bag under as check-in for free since they flight was packed and they also never said anything about it being "over the dimensions." When I was leaving the Guadalajara airport, there was a worker who right before boarding asked me to check to see if my small carry-on fit the dimensions. I told him it did and that I had already flown with the same bag before and with the same company, regardless, he wanted to check. My bag was less than 2 inches taller than the dimensions. He said I had to pay an additional fee of approximately $50. I tried to explain to him that I had already traveled with the same bag and he just threatened to not allow me or my bag to fly back to Oakland unless I paid the fee. I'm 16, I had no cash or debit card on me. I was scared half to death because I had never experienced something like that, no matter how many times I tried to tell them I wasn't being heard. I was being threatened by that company. Finally, someone offered to pay my bill and I will be eternally thankful because I don't know what would have happened, would I have missed my flight. It's crazy to see what they do to kids who are underage and traveling alone, image what they pull on other people who have emergencies and have to grab a urgent flight or others. They charge for everything and sometimes only to certain people because I saw people with bigger bags than mine who did not have to pay. Volaris is crap and has the worst kind of service, even if their flights may seem cheap, do not fly with them! It is a huge mistake and you will get charged just for breathing their air.
