I started with Care.com, needing a housecleaner, posted the position, they wanted a fee, I declined, and somehow that request got listed at Thumbtack.com. Started getting tons of offers. These cleaners profiles looked great, pics of their work, good reviews. Hired one, they showed up near noon, not giving me time, although I asked. The quote was $70 to clean per what I needed, walls, windows, etc, seemed too low. So were here all day, mostly "hiding in laundry room," not much cleaning going on at all. Gave benefit of doubt, unfamilar with home, so asked them back, strange, they didn't ask to continue, they wouldn't say the cost, 11 to7:30. Was $70 enough? No idea so paid more. Next visit date comes, I have to contact to confirm, shouldn't they have? Then the phone call "Our tire is flat & must be special ordered"-never heard of that, unless racing car special, this was a common car. So the no show & never heard from them again. They still advertise on Thimbtack. 2nd housecleaner, came to give estimate, to see what they were in for, looked good till morning of cleaning day. Phone rings with lady crying about her domestic disturbance, yet wanted me to just reshedule? So what will happen that day? This is all too much for me. I hear complaints from the folks looking for work horror stories, I just wanted to say it's a horror from the hiring side too.
