When I graduated from college one of my dreams was to move to New York City and become a journalist. I knew that once I made it to the big city I would do whatever I needed to do to make my dream career a reality but first I had to overcome the initial hurdle: finding an affordable place to live in NYC. I come from a small rural town in South Carolina and you can get by for very little so I knew I was in for an increase in living expenses but I never realized just how crazy the real estate prices were in NYC. I called several brokerage firms and they all told me the same thing, that I would be charged an arm and a leg to sign a new lease and on top of that I would need to pay a brokers fee on top of that which would equal over a month’s rent. I was like “are you kidding me?!” I knew I needed an alternative. I went online and did some research and found Roomster. It was extremely easy to create a profile and their functionality is well above par. And the best part is they have an abundance of rooms across various budgetary needs so you can really zero in on something that is perfect for you and your situation.
