The insurance is on a refurbished computer monitor I purchased from newegg.com. I broke and I called to file a claim. They told me to call the manufacture. I did. They said it was not under warranty and to call their refurbished warranty department the next day. I did and it was about a week out of the 90 day warranty. So I called baclk squaretrade and allstate company and told them this. They started the process my claim. I asked them online written in chat if I could buy a used monitor off facebook market place. The online agent came back and said yes. I did that. I sent in a receipt of the purchase and screen shot of the monitor I purchased online. They denied the claim and said I need to bring it to repair shop. I'd like them to honor their word and pay out the claim like they said.
I would not have purchased a used monitor if they had said no. I want them to pay out the 249.00 claim. On a side note, best buy charges 100 dollars to look at a computer monitor and being a computer repair tech myself for 3 years there are 2 things that break in a flat panel monitor the screen and the main board. Both would cost more to replace then the warranty pay out of 249.
I talked to a manager, they reviewed the chat logs and they are going to follow the law and pay out the claim it seems. However this was awful, not easy, I had to threaten them with a complaint. I will not buy their warranty again.
