9/26/16

SECOND UPDATE: 60 days and never received. Called the rebate department and the person I unfortunately got refused to assist in any manner. I ended up calling The Office of the President of Staples. Spoke with Martha. Not sure how Martha got her job but WOW! I don't think anyone could be any more incompetent. After providing her with the tracking number, the rebate number, our order number and confirmation number, as well as, the dates and confirmations of the rebate from Staples, she said "that rebate is not a valid" I hung up and called back and got a hold of someone with at least a few brain cells. That said, it will be another week or so for anyone to get back to me. I wrote a formal complaint to the Federal Trade Commission. No doubt it will take a year to be looked into but if people do not stand up to fraud and bad business then it will simply continue.

UPDATE TO REVIEW: More time has passed and tried calling Staples again. Took over 1 hour and 3 transfers only to be told its not 15 days for mailing, its an entire month! That month will be up next week... Stay tuned...
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Made the mistake of purchasing a case of copy paper that was advertised to be $10 after getting a rebate back. Its been a month and nothing other than an email stating the rebate has been processed. Called the executive offices of Staples because there was no one to speak with in customer service who had a brain. The woman at the executive offices said it takes 3 weeks from the date of the notice, to receiving the rebate in the mail. I asked where it is was coming from (expecting somewhere out of the US due to the lengthy mailing time quoted). She responded, "a place called Lewisville". I'm in Texas. I asked her if she was referring to Lewisville, Texas? She said yes. I let her know that from where I'm located, one could drive to Lewisville in a matter of 20 minutes and asked how it would be possible it would take 3 weeks. Her response; it takes 3 weeks no matter where you are, even if you are across the country. Bizarre but I waited the 3 weeks. Nothing. There's a reason why this company's current net income is a negative $440 million. Lesson learned. If you see some "deal" where Staples is promising you a rebate, steer clear like its the plague.

  • Vonage

8/17/15

I write this as a warning to consumers. The concept of having one's phone service cloud based is not only brilliant, it is very cost effective, unless you choose Vonage. It is no different working with them than any other major phone provider when it comes to incompetency, service issues and over-charging. Dare I say, maybe even worse!

Vonage has serious communication problems within their own organization. No one knows what someone else has done, how to speak with another department in their own company and therefore is 100% ineffective in getting anything accomplished.

I tried setting up multiple lines for business service. Started off with 2 of our numbers, which actually went fairly well but was then "quadruple" charged by Vonage. That was 2 month ago, and with the writing of this review, still have not received reimbursement despite speaking with their accounting department 3 times, customer service twice and 2 supervisors. And that's not even the worst part.

Vonage never took the right steps to transfer our other numbers. The details of all this would take too long to go into but suffice to say, I made 62 phones calls (yes, really, 62) in a period of 3.5 weeks to try to get to the bottom of the nightmare and ultimately cancelled the service altogether.

A great barometer when choosing any conglomerate to work with is that if they don't have telephone numbers to reach a headquarters or executive offices, then you know there are going to be problems. Vonage posts a number for executive offices but its not an executive office, its simply customer service.

They also give customers the ability to write a complaint on their site, which creates a case number to be responded to within 48 hours. Tried this and no one responded. False statements and misleading customers regarding pricing, service and complaints, on a company's website is illegal but they do not seem to mind!

I'll say it again, NOT WORTH IT. Choose another provider.

Purchased 1 shirt on-line. Returned it for an exchange. Filled out all paperwork in detail. Returned received. 2 weeks later called LP to ask where the exchange was. I was told they were busy but would get to it that week. Another week passed and nothing. Called again and was told a gift certificate was sent instead! However, no gift certificate was ever received and again requested the exchange. Another week passed and still nothing. Called again and was told that the item would be sent out that week. Finally received the item but they sent back the original item that I returned to them! Called again and requested a supervisor. I was told no one was available. Left a msg. Never heard from anyone. Called the corporate office and actually got a hold of the CEO! If his attitude is the example set, it is clear as to why this company has problems. He did nothing but rush me off the phone. To-date, Lilly Pulitzer has my money and have nothing but a headache. So sad really, nice stuff but who wants to deal with stupidity and dishonesty. Buyers BEWARE!
