Long story short: after buying into the SMTN through one of their sales reps who assured me SMTN could sell my timeshare after providing them a few thousand dollars. I originally applied a price advised by SMTN for our timeshare. After an extended time I dropped the price to zero just to be done with the situation. I subsequently discovered through coordination with my timeshare company that there was NO WAY SMTN could sell my timeshare, only the timeshare company itself could sell it and I was told SMTN knew that prior to me being duped into their scam. I contacted the timeshare company and they allowed me to sell back to them our timeshare for a fee of $750. If I had known I could have done this earlier, I would have saved myself about $2000.
