I'm a small business owner, and chose to go with Taxslayer for my 2023 taxes. While their website and interface were user friendly and easy to use, I felt rushed through and I had additional information to enter and was not provided opportunity to do so.
I received a letter from the IRS a few days ago indicating that there were glaring errors in my return, to include several pages missing. Some to include the first two pages of my return, proof of income, and then proof of quarterly taxes filed. Whether this was a glitch or not, something like this should not be overlooked. My wife and I double checked everything before we even hit submit! Everything was there. The review page even said as much.
When I've done everything within my power and capability to file my taxes, in accordance to the material provided by the website, and the IRS kicks it back for information missing; then that leaves a lot to be desired to the efficacy of Taxslayer. They have lost my business from this day forward.

Tax Slayer was reasonable easy to use, but this year I was charged $40 for not using my credit card to pay their fees. I do not even recall seeing where I had to option to pay the fees separately. They took the fees out of my refund and then tacked on a $40 fee. It is mentioned deep within their terms, but they did not make it obvious that you could avoid the extra fee by using your own means of payment. I have used them for a few years, but will not use them again next year due to this underhanded policy.

The system charges you upfront and has no guidance what so ever. Might as well get the forms and fill them out yourself without this system charging you 30 dollars for nothing. I asked for a full refund and its up to the upper management to decide if it gets approved. 30 dollars waisted. Total scam

This company is worthless. If you owe taxes and try to pay through them, don't expect a confirmation, any communication, or even a response when you pointedly try to ask them questions. I filed and setup what I owed to be withdrawn on a specific date. Nothing happened. So on tax day I called them to figure out if I missed a step somewhere or what was going on: it just hangs up on you. That's it. So, I tried emailing them and got a completely useless answer that was irrelevant to what I was asking. I called again, did finally have an opportunity to talk to a real person and they just lied out their backside about the processing. So, I payed the state directly why I owed because these jokers couldn't tell me if the payment I scheduled through them weeks ago was going to go through. Lo and behold the payment I scheduled with them and the one I scheduled with the state got withdrawn on the same day back to back. So, these idiots cost me hundreds of dollars I don't have just because they can't be bothered to do their job or even something so simple and common place as sending a confirmation receipt so you have any piece of mind that they did what they said they would, even if it is weeks late. They are a trash heap and you're better off paying a real entity than trying to go through them just because it's free.

For a second time it promised me a free service and both times it lied and charged me at the end. Avoid!

How annoying is it to have an established account with Dave Ramsey's tax service and not be able to gain access to my account even though I have written it down?! I can't reach anyone at their call center. It keeps hanging up on me. I'm sorry I ever used this service and will have to manually print out my tax forms and mail them to the IRS the old fashioned way. I won't every give Tax Slayer another chance after they have locked me out of my account 1 day before taxes are due and have no actual PERSON that can help me on their stupid toll free number. I have been hung up on by that system over 7 times... I give up and hope this TAX SLAYER goes down!

Charged $40 to do NYState IncomeTax and it was WRONG...I had to pay another 50% after NY audited it. I could have done the taxes wrong for FREE! Very disappointed in this result.

I have been preparing taxes for many years, using multiple efiling programs, Taxslayer being one of them. While they are very good, their prices have skyrocketed over the past couple of years now that the IRS free efile program is solid and constraints aren't as tight with the IRS. There are several other programs out there that are just as good and much less expensive, so save yourself a ton of money and use one of them and maybe Taxslayer will get the hint and start bringing their costs back to a respectful price.

Said it would be free for qualifying filers and I know I qualified due to my low AGI. Was guided through the process thoroughly but FORCED to answer questions about a state refund when I live in a state which does not require state income tax. At the end of the process i was informed the "free" service would actually cost me a whopping $60. Hell no. Incredibly scummy tactics. Total scam and BS advertising.

They say file for $0 but do not have any asterisk to any carveout. Then when you entered all your information and ready to file they asked for $69

Not impressed, lure you in with "free" option, input all of your personal information and spend the time completing, and suddenly, bam, $80. More expensive than other options, wasted my time, misleading advertisements, hidden required "upgrades" to actually file,.

I usually use turbo tax or the H&R Block software. Tried this to free e-file for my state. According to what I just filled out I would get less than half of the federal and about $60 less in state refund than what turbo tax calculated. I think it has to do with the EIC that for the life of me I can't get this software to allow. It also wouldn't allow me to enter interest I've paid to my mortgage company.

I've used many efile software over the years from paid to to free stuff. This is the least user friendly and intuitive software I've run across. There are better options out there for you! Look around.

I entered all my family's sensitive information and did one w2 then it logged me out. Now they have then info Every time I log back in and attempt to continue my taxes tax slayer says they are experiencing a problem. This is my first and last experience with them.

Tax slayer robbed me of my refund. And the said it was sent to the IRS. The IRS said it wasn't even prossesed. Now I have to file an amended return. Tax slayer e file it for an adiotional charge. But I have to print it out and send it to the IRS.$734.00 was what I was supposedd to recieve but it was take out of my bank account. I've been on the phone with Tax Slayer for 6 hours today. Couldn't get a straight answer. Now I have to file an amended return because of Tax Slayer's screw ups

I have been using TaxSlayer for years and am extremely satisfied with this service. Easy to use, accurate and friendly and knowledgeable Customer Service. No long waits, willing to research answers to difficult questions. Great job!

I decided to try Taxslayer as I no longer have to prepare fiduciary tax returns. I spent hours inputting my 9 rental properties and their assets as well as investment income etc. I did a like kind exchange last year and after multiple calls to support I was told that TaxSlayer does not support the forms for like kind exchanges.
Needless to say I am very unhappy with them and will not be recommending them to anyone.
Honesty matters and they should not advertise that they support all the forms.

This place takes more money out on you than explained! The software sucks and customer service does not seem to know much about anything! They charge you an extra 39.95 to direct deposit your refund on top of sll the other fees! I will not do business with this site ever again!

We filed our taxes with them, answered all questions, filled out all forms. It said we had a refund of $700! IRS sends us a tax bill for $4600. 00.
So just to see I went on Turbo tax and filled out the same information and turbo Tax showed us owing $3500.
Now not only do we owe the IRS for the original amount but we now owe penalties and interest!
This company should be sued for fraud!
DO NOT USE THEM!

Anything on your return regarding income or age will "autoupgrade" your return for their 3rd rate software at $70 telling you AFTER you have entered a mountain of information. You never see your return and you have to reprepare the return. Rip off.
