The app has improved significantly over the past year. Precipitation feature is much better. The ten day forecast is better too, and it changes often, showing the latest updates, as it should. I was not happy a year ago, but I have to admit they've done a lot of work to make it more user friendly.
Been using this site for over 15 years. 3-10 forecasts are very inaccurate. It is obvious this site posts extreme 10 day forecasts to gain views in return for advertiser money
This is one of the best weather sites, but I rarely use it because it is offensively slow. It's clear that many others share this opinion, so I can't imagine why they don't change their slow loading ads for quick gifs, or whatever. They would get high ratings, and consequently, better ad revenue. It's truly a mystery to me that any company would think this is wise marketing.
The team who created lookr.com is going to build an improved WU alternative that works smoothly - if you want us to. But this requires resources. So we are asking weather enthusiasts - like you - out there, if they would be willing to pay a small price for such a satisfying service.
We are not weather enthusiasts ourselves. But we love webcams. And we have a genuine interest in providing a satisfying service for our users. Now, and in the future. Below you see two sample screenshots of how our new service might look like:
Update:
We have two experienced weather enthusiasts on board in this project to make sure we will go into the right direction. And of course, we will stay in touch through your feedback on how to improve and develop what actually makes sense. For example, we already got feedback that it would be enough to update every 5 seconds for rapid fire, since most weather stations won't be able to update every second (as suggested by our survey before).
Please let us know in this survey, if you are interested in such an improved WU alternative. Thank you.

What used to be a comprehensive, incredibly useful and user friendly website is now lost somewhere, seemingly without a plan to do anything about it.
Four stars is how I used to feel about Weather Underground.
Now it's just the one star. I hope that it can soon return to the four it then deserved.
Used WU prior to it going dark (2019?) and loved it. Recently discovered it's back up and it's better than ever! Spot on for Eagle, tiny town in SE WI.
How many years went by having trouble just opening the page to finally able to use I can move the mouse about with out stall also.
Seems to be the best in the NW and Hawaii. Weather.com / weather channel completely lacks accuracy, they don't even seem to try.
Best source in an emergency (if you have internet available) - specifically their NEXRAD animated map.
Why? Because it is "near real time" with almost "google maps" level of granularity on zoom that tells you what is happening near your home and family. Simultaneously, it animates the storms, showing the storm cells (with their type, direction and relative power), and the area covered by the watch/warning from the National Weather service.
There were tornadoes in our area this summer. We found this more relevant and reliable than the tv reports (sporadic and higher level), the local news station websites, and competing weather reporting websites (too high level, or not granular enough). Fortunately, the tornadoes were well to the west and to the east of us, but we would never know for sure watching the news. We avoided being unnecessarily panicked, while having the surety of knowing when we had to pull the trigger to hunker down.
Sometimes the media over-hype storms, which breeds cynicism. Wunderground's tool will help you discern what is real and may well help save your and your family's life.
Only thing better would be an actual real time feed with this level of granularity, but I have not found that yet. If you do, post it in the comments please.
This website is VERY kickass. 3-D Radar, Near Rea ltime Lightning tracking, NEXRAD Radar, High Quality Imaging, Historical Tornado History, the list goes on and on. Aside from the fact the website is named after an Domestic Terrorist Organization, then this site is pretty goddamn great.
