I worked for writerbay for two years. In the beginning it was fabulous, sure, most projects paid peanuts, but after 2-3 months I began getting assigned personal statements and admissions essays that really paid quite well - even got a job paying $48/pp. But this didn't last. They reduced the prices they paid out to the writers drastically, and began to be late with payments. The last straw was after I had written over 300 papers for them with only PERFECT feedback, some jackass customer didn't like his personal statement. They FINED me because he didn't like it - there was nothing grammatically wrong, and all the instructions were followed perfectly, I stopped writing for them and declined the boatload of orders from customers that requested me.
The one bright spot was I went back and was able to find email addresses and names of customers in the orders by looking at the uploaded files metadata and started my own website that I managed to convince many of my customers to use instead of their garbage - which clearly wasn't secure.
I've never used WriterBay, but I morally object to a business that purports to assess the abilities of writers when its own home page is riddled with grammatical errors. I have been a self-employed writer for many years and the WriterBay business model looks and feels extremely exploitative of writers' talents.

Writerbay was an extremely good freelancing portal until Claire joined the team. She will find the most flimsiest reason to deactivate your account or terminate it permanently. She acts like a racist. I have been associated with Writerbay since 2013, and I never had such a harrowing experience until now. I hope she is sacked and thrown out the same way she does it to genuine writers. Writerbay is good, but until she is there, you better find some other portal like writershug.org. I have done exactly that!

We have certain requirements towards the freelancers we hire. The requirements are all openly listed in our Terms of Use to which you agreed when registering at our website. In case one does not meet our standards, we are forced to terminate our cooperation.
The only policy we have is our Terms of Use. Claire, just as any other manager, takes into consideration exclusively whether or not one has been following the requirements and standards listed there. We cannot put the quality of our product in jeopardy by allowing our writers to neglect the instructions and overall company's standards systematically.

I was once employed by Writerbay.com and unfortunately got my account terminated. Its quite sad for me to view such negative reviews about this site yet I can attest that they provide writers with enough chances to redeem themselves. I deserved my termination because of some obvious issues, and I am sure that most of those complaining had faults too. The pay is a bit low, but to avoid such, bid for the extra urgent orders. On to the advantages, the support team is amazing, particularly Courtney, Shelby, Ryan, Tim and Scarlett just to name a few. I used my quality time trying to apply for a writerbay account. I got 14/15 in grammar and 4/5 in formatting styles. I took my time to follow every process and guess what? I got an email three days later(not even two weeks) that I was not eligible. Crap! I had wasted almost three caluable hours writing sample essays that were never going to be taken into consideration. You know what? Am even thankful I never got an account. I have a friend whose account got terminated with $100. So insanely inhuman!@@@##$$%%^^&&***

We have high standards and carefully review each and every application in order to make sure we accept only professional and experienced freelance writers into our team.
Our HR Department places a great emphasis on checking one's diploma and sample essay to verify that an applicant has at least Bachelor's degree and that their writing skills are up to our standard. In case an applicant provides us with a visibly modified diploma, uploads a sample essay written unprofessionally, or attempts to register multiple accounts on our website at once, such applications get declined.
Moreover, we can deactivate an active writer's account if that writer systematically violates the policies openly listed in our Terms of Use. In this case, we make sure to transfer the money that writer has earned up to date during the payment period.
All our actions are transparent and go in the line with our policies.

WriterBay understands the struggling writer. Having said that? Professionalism is expected, i.e. No plagiarism, Meeting deadlines. They are open 24/7 which means writers are free to work around-the-clock if so desired

Beware of the person who uses the fake name Claire ---she or he (I think Claire is really an angry waiter) use the email address *******@writerbay.com and respond to the complaints about the business posted on line here. He/she tells writers who complain to contact her at *******@writerbay.com, and then the writer gets locked out of their accounts. You can read many posts online hiring writers from Africa and India to write under Writer Bay accounts for 1 per page. The people who own and work at writerbay.com are from India. They go by many names and they set up fake LinkedIn accounts and other fake accounts trying to legitimise themselves.

It's generally not a good sign when the admin rep of a company whose focus is on quality writing responds to negative reviews with some of the worst grammar, syntax and sentence structure I've seen in a long time.
Ironic that a person still working for a company can't write anywhere near as well as those who've been let go by that same company.
Anyway, I can't really add anything more to what's already been said by those here who have had bad experiences with WriterBay. And to the folks who are singing its praises, well, I'm sure some of you are actual contract writers for the company. But given the over-the-top, fawning nature of some of these reviews, many are obviously shill comments plugged in by the company itself.

Just as we, a Company, have certain obligations stated in the policies, so do the writers we accept into our team. In case a writer does no longer comply with the standards, we do give them a chance to redeem their performance, since we value long-term cooperation with our freelancers above all. Writerbay creates a lot of hype around the PRO writer status promising new budding writers of bigger incentives if the status is raised to PRO status. However, in reality, PRO writers are given least priority when awarding a project because they are expensive. Writerbay always prefers low cost writers who can provide papers at cheap price even with compromised quality and hence, they need PRO writers only when it comes to impressing a new client or else invariably a project is awarded to a low cost writer. The quality issue is just a hype and nothing else, but what irks me most is when the low cost writers goof up a project and the project is then forced onto the PRO writers for saving the face of the organization and satisfying the supremely dissatisfied client.
The hype created about PRO writers to be assigned projects without waiting or as soon as they apply is not true either. In reality, only 1 in 100 projects gets assigned to a PRO writer as soon as he or she applies.
Finally, it always amuses me that in the list of top 10 earning writers showcased on the site, not a single writer has PRO writer status, which again shows Writerbay's preference for low cost writers rather than quality assuring PRO writers. It seems that the quality assurance department is more focused on cost minimization efforts than ensuring quality.

I've been working at Writerbay for about two years. Before I found this precious harbor for freelance writers I encountered with a great variety of scam companies that were not willing to pay or simply paid partial. Of course Writerbay is not so immaculate place and it has its dark and white sides, but still benefits prevail the deficiencies. First I will start with disadvantages. Registration process is quite complicated. It requires good knowledge of English and different formatting styles, but I think that such process is justified, because this company unlike any other strives for quality. The second and as for me the biggest disadvantage is that they are making payments only once a month, Id like it to be increased at least to two times, but we have what we have.
Now here come the advantages. What I really value at Writerbay is their support team that is available 24/7. When you are chatting with them, you feel that from that end is sitting a person (but not unemotional robot), who will listen to all your doubts and pains and provide with a solution. The second point which I value is the bonuses system they offer. After half a year I have got a promotion and a lot of bonuses, moreover I am always striving to deliver the high quality product, because I know that all my endeavors will be rewarded. WriterBay is one of those shady content farms where you never know who you are dealing with or the nature/logic of any of the rules they try to enforce on you as a writer. I cut my association with them very quickly when I kept getting emails from differently named people who all sounded the same and, in response to any question on my part, kept answering that they can't do things any differently because it's their 'official policy'. A terrible waste of time, and you are much, much better off making a profile on a site like elance or odesk and building your own reputation rather than write for these faceless, identity-less, super sketchy folk.

Funny, how often I stumble upon negative reviews about WriterBay, yet the people have nothing constructive or argumentative to say.
Most likely, there are two explanations:
1) People didn't manage to get their application accepted, and focus on leaving negativity all over the web rather than reflect on their writing skills and academic background. WB has high standards for the people they choose to work with, and it's reasonable.
2) People screwed up and got their account terminated, which is, once again, a hightime to reflect upon their professionalism rather than say the company has mistreated them.
I have been working for WB for over four years, and was "a pioneer" there. Over the years, I have observed the website and the company to develop, improve and grow. Yes, WB has its drawbacks, but I choose to look at the positive sides, and, most importantly, I appreciate that I have been able to provide for my little (but, nonetheless, needy) family with the money I make with the company's help.

This was far and away the most bizarre experience I have ever had. I have taught in higher education distance learning) so I was suspicious. Now I am aghast The portal sucks, their communications suck, the assignments range from 1 page but takes HOURS to who knows. (I quit at one.) But they have bad grammar in their own materials so what can you expect?

Over the past year, there was only one month when PayPal delayed the payouts to our active writers, and we addressed the issue by promptly informing our writers about it and adding bonuses for the delay.
