What an absolutely horrible experience. For anybody out there if you do not have to use the money order do not do it. It's an extensive process to try to get your money back if your money order was received or cashed. I always heard stories, but had my own experience, and they should just do away with them in my opinion.Please, just another way they f ck the poor.I give it a negative extremely horrible and never again! Will not get to the bottom of a problem if things go wrong. Instead, will post you from pillar to post and not acknowledge their failings and shortcomings. Do not send money through this unless company! Sent money through them and they did not deliver. Kept going around in circles to avoid refunding. Fraudsters, this lot! Incompetent and so old school. The worst transfer money company! I had to receive money and i traveled 2 hours to find a city where was an agency that had cash. It cost me time and extra money. I wouldnt recommend it, bc it is very difficult to find an agency that gives u cash, they just eant to get.
Contacted western union about 2 fraudulent transfers done within last hour and was told that they were completed so nothing could be done about them. I was just out the money including their processing fee. Both showed money available (but not picked up) when the call started and one still showed available (but not picked up) when it ended but they said they could do nothing about it. It was transferred to a bank account so they didn't even need ID to pick it up. If you think having an account with them is secure, think again. I had used WU before so the account was set up. Fraudsters needed to know this so it has something to do with WU, unlike what they implied to me.
WARNING!... Sent money twice to my gf in the Philippines, so I go to do another transfer with Western Union. They have me send a card to her with the tracking number so she thinks she's receiving the money. Then I get a phone call that they want additional information and then they declined it. So if you think you're going to get money sent to the Philippines or an overseas country. Think again! Never again will I use Western Union! Never! There's other ways of sending money
Took them five days to tell me they will not transfer my money to the my vendor. This was after clearing security check this morning when the agent said the funds would be available right away. What a horrible experience! Now I am out of pocket for all of the money now until 5-8 days... stay away from these people!
I was sent $500 and was told it would be one business day. Tracked the transfer and my bank doesn't have it. Called WU and was hung up on several times. The last "scammer agent" tells me that it's going to be another 5-7 business days to process.

Every time I pay fee for immediate pickup money but western union holds on it for 7 days. When I call someone from Pakistan pick the phone and does nothing. My wife and I are expats living in Benin and we tried to send money from our French bank account to a WU office in Benin –our French bank did not allow us to retrieve more money and we needed the cash to buy a car–. The local WU office would not give me the money and suggest me to contact the French customer service to solve the problem.
Well, let me tell you that I had the worst customer service experience EVER. Treating me like a criminal, and mocking me because I did not speak a perfect French on the phone (yes, I'm from Spain and obviously I have an accent). I cannot express the frustration and impotence that I had after that call.
The funniest thing is that the same story happened to us twice! First to my wife and after some months the same happened to me. Unbelievable.

The lady whom I got connected to after a long wait in line did not even hear the issue, she said she is going to transfer me to the right department and put me back in line. Tried to send money overseas to a close friend, who I've sent to before with WU. Understandably, they questioned me based on me possibly being frauded. Was denied. Told to drive to local agent (phone booth in a Walgreens). Phone didn't work well and hung up on me. Tried calling again. Was interviewed, questioned and denied again. It's my money, If I want to send it, let me! I know what I'm doing. I don't need to be "protected". Ridiculous. I'll never use WU again. I went to PayPal, same scenario, was questioned, then they sent it. Seemed so simple after all the headache and running around WU caused me!
I tried to transfer money from Australia to New Zealand. The money did not go through to the recipient and I was told there is a "technical issue" and they will refund me in 7 days. I never received the money! I received an email to tell me go and cash out a big amount of money from nearest western union place. Are they serious?!

I received a money order from a family member for Christmas. After going to about 10 different wester union locations, as well as calling Wells Fargo bank (the bank the money order was drawn on) no one would cash it. So now WU has the money and my family member sent to me and they are screwed because now WU wont give them the money back either. Worst experience ever. If I could give them 0 stars I would.
WesternUnion is not a professional organization. After using the online app successfully for six months to send my diabetic boyfriend money for his insulin shots, my transfer receives an error code. I call support who informs me that their "corporate policies" are limiting my account. The agent refuses to elaborate on what "policy" my account was in violation of. The very idea that there can be a denial of service without any explanation seems worthy of immediate legal challenge. Avoid the drama and use Moneygram instead. WesternUnion is a racket.
I bought a WU money order for Christmas for each of my 3 grown children, who live in various parts of the country. All 3 said that not one WU location, located inside various stores, would cash the out of state money orders. None of my children use brick and mortar banks, instead all using banking apps (I'm pulling my hair out) so there was no option to deposit and let clear to get the money. Upon calling WU, I'm told that it's up to each individual "WU extension office" to decide what they will and will not cash. Absolutely ridiculous! I paid for each money order, paid for priority mail + ins for each, and now I'm going to have to pay for certified mail to get these money orders back to me to file a claim, and pay $15 for each money order to file the claim! I just threw away over $100 using WU money orders! Never again!
