I bought a cheaper plan to give this a try. Got plenty of auditions for first six weeks then ironically right after my 30 day refund window the auditions completely dried up. When I spoke with to Voice123 customer service "it was because I needed to upgrade" and they literally said, "you won't be happy with us unless you buy the $395 plan." I will never find out because i'm not interested. Lol. Just thought you all should be informed!
Been a subscriber for years and they removed my good reviews! Three years after they were posted they said they were unable to verify them, despite finding the original posting for the bookings and me showing them the finished work. What company would actively work against their clients? Terrible terrible customer service - no resolution. I won't be renewing.
I spent the $99 for the plan that should've gotten me more options to record and, hopefully, offers. I believe I submitted samples 78 times and didn't get one offer. I used to work in radio and know my voice is worthy enough, but this is a joke. AND, in the last month or so of my paid subscription, I rarely heard from Voice123. Don't waste your money with this company!
I had some success on Voices.com with some hired jobs, enough to quadruple what I had spent for the premium membership. So I decided to check out Voices123.com as well to see if I could have some success there as well. Boy, was I mistaken. The site's UI is absolutely atrocious, MUCH worse than Voices.com's site. The jobs that actually pay money are few and far between, and even when there are jobs like those, by the time they trickle down to you (as there are paid membership tiers), your audition won't even matter. All this with the caveat that there's a 30 day money back guarantee UNLESS you get in during a discount, which I did. Then they refuse to refund you. Ridiculous. Stay far away from this platform if you know what's good for you.
I've been part of the Voice123 community since 2007. The level of talent and buyers has always been quality and meeting industry standards. While there will always be first time talent and/or clients, Voice123 has a strong supply of both outstanding competitive talent and legit, professional buyers from small to big agencies. Always happy to do business with buyers on Voice123.com.
Hundreds to thousands of voiceover jobs are available for audition on this online casting marketplace and hundreds to thousands of voiceover talent are there to competitively apply. That said, talent is of the utmost professional and Voice123 will help, if ever you have a question.
I was previously a Premium Member for a year. I have been a Professional Voice Artist for over 45 Years.
I received ONE $40 script in that year.
It seems whomever is in the Same Time Zone as You gets the scripts Immediately.
I get the New Notification for a script and am told either:
1) The allotted number of auditions have been Filled...OR...
2) A talent has already been chosen for this client.
It was Not worth my $395 and certainly did not entice me to purchase Your $600 Membership...Right?
I got my start here, but... it's not what it once was. Voice123 used to be good in the mid 2010s but there are now too many pricing tiers to choose from and it seems even the $888/year tier is pointless to continue. From over-auditioned opportunities where the client asks for 50 auditions and gets back over 100 by the time I'm invited, to the incessant need to beg for Likes and Hearts (to satisfy the ranking algorithm), the platform has figured out the perfect way to hoodwink you into thinking you have a chance. The harsh reality is that the Non-Union VO market is oversaturated, they know it, and are raking in the dough from anyone who doesn't already know the game has already been played--and those at the top (e.g. Those who pay multiple thousands of dollars per year) will remain at the top, with early access to the best auditions.
So long.
I was an active paid subscriber to Voice123 for a few years around 2015 - 2020. I auditioned regularly and got many meaningful VO gigs. Around 2020 I let my subscription lapse and stopped doing VO briefly. About a year ago I inquired about re-upping my subscripttion and messaged customer service for guidance. No response. I attempted again a few months ago because I wanted to know if they were still actively in business before I gave them my CC info for the $395 subscription price. Once again, crickets. I went out into the VO community to see if Voice123 was still a viable option for work. No one responded. These experiences, along with the multitude of negative reviews here, lead me to conclude that Voice123 is a ghost town. It's a shame because I wish to resume my VO career but these sites are all I know (Voice.com doesn't seem to have any better reviews). Not buying under these circumstances.
I regularly book work as a voiceover artist on Voice123. The platform is easy to use and I can continue my relationship with the client beyond the first job. Their customer service is helpful and friendly and quick to respond.
I was shocked to find out that when you submit and audition the clients have the option to download your audition. That means if your audition is not watermarked they can actually use your recording and you won't even know it, without paying you for it. You wonder why you audition for so many jobs and never hear back. Some clients even have the nerve to say no watermark on auditions. Hmmm I wonder why. Why does Voices123 allow this? Why can't they just have clients listen and not download. That feature is unnecessary. I guess they don't care, as long as they get their annual fee. I can't imagine how many people have been scammed on this site.
As a full time professional, I appreciate Voice123 for their consistent audition opportunities, easy to use platform and excellent customer service. My booking rate and average rate paid is higher with Voice123 than with their main competitor and not having to give up 20% in "platform fees" is a huge plus.
I've used Voice 123 for the last three years, and while there are frustrations with any similar business, at least the prior site was user friendly. I don't know WHAT they were thinking when they changed it up, but somebody made a big mistake!
In addition, at one time you were able to contact a live person if you needed a question answered... it's no surprise they've done away with THAT option.
Within a month of becoming a "Premium" member I was landing gigs. For most gigs, the pay makes sense in my opinion (union workers may disagree). I audition for 15-20 invitations a day and probably land 1 gig per 30-40 invites. If you hustle you'll make your money.
That being said, the website is sluggish and is not well equipped to handle the amount of users on it. At high traffic times it can struggle to keep up and pages regularly crash/won't load. This can be a little frustrating.
The payout method is almost useless for Voice123. They take 6% and pay out on a net-30 period. There is no way to track this payment when it is in limbo and it seems to be done manually by actual people. Fortunately they allow (maybe expect?) you to invoice your clients outside of their system. I just use Paypal.
If they had a more robust site to handle the traffic, and a better automated payment process I would give Voice123 five stars easily.
Been using voice123.com for 5 years both on the hiring voice talents and getting hired side.
If you're a seasoned voice talent and willing to navigate the horrible new version of the site just launched, you'll get your money invested back and then some. Good luck!
As an agency offering voices to clients, this is very helpful to find voices that fit a briefing quickly. Even though we have our own database we can find new voices with this page all the time.
So often everything has to happen instantly and once I forgot to tick a box and the whole casting did not work. The support noticed, changed it for me and saved my project. Thanks!
Not one audition has ever been approved and I simply didn not know if my voice was being used without my permission.
I would say steer clear because it seems very scam-like.
Have heard a lot of good things about this website and this deserves appreciation.
As far as I know, this is more or less like the Google of voice over talents. Some friends got great gigs here. For scouts, you can also check sample of works of popular voice over guys here.
As a newbie to voice talent work, I pulled the trigger on this particular P2P because they looked legit and got good reviews. And they offered $100 off! SoI've been using this site for 2.5 months and have peppered them with many, many questions. Fortunately, they've always had answers, or been open to suggestions. No issues, lots of help, some advice. And I've scored enough gigs to pay for the service, so there's proof Voice123 works.
This is my second year as a paying member on Voice 123. Initially, I booked jobs immediately and I have had repeat business. I was able to audition for jobs as soon as they were published. I was also able to see feedback from the different auditions and gauge where I should spend my efforts. With the new interface, I am receiving auditions that are old and I am finding that my auditions not even being opened. I will probably not renew unless there are some drastic changes.
I've just completed a year's subscription but decided not to renew (auto-renew turned off) as the time isn't right for me - plus the new interface is awful, I'm breaking out alone.
Anyway, my premium subscription for this year was taken out of my account anyway. So without auto-renewal on, that means without my consent. Which is illegal right? I wouldn't mind if the Customer Service folks could simply act, swiftly and sensibly and just refund me the money. Why it's taken a week I have no idea.
