Cappelli Merryl Toyo Braid Swinger with Chin Cord Sun Hat. It has a extremely long chin cord which hangs mid way of my abdomen. The top of the hat is so deep and wide that it look and feels like a buckle on my head. It has no contour shape and it looks unattractive on. The Scala Mercedes Wool Felt Gaucho Hat is so cheap that the wool is peeling. The band around the sides of the top of the hat is cheap, wrinkled and bumpy. I am disgusted. I have never order anything that was so different than the pictures and description advertised on the website. I'm going to wear my Gaucho to church this Easter. I will decide whether to return it based on the reactions I get from my friends at church.
In the past couple of years I have bought quite a few hats from The Village Hat Shop without incident. However, due to inaccurate information posted on their website, a hat in my most recent order was the wrong size. Their response to this was to blame the hat's manufacturer for the misinformation and to sell me a replacement at a reduced price, but not to provide any refund for the wrong sized hat unless I paid to ship it back to them. The result was that I ended up paying more to get the right size hat than the actual price. The store representative was unwilling to even entertain the possibility that I might not be satisfied with this, and he was argumentative and combative with me about it. So I called and left a message for the manager, who never even bothered to call me back. I will therefore never again buy anything from this store, and I strongly recommend that others avoid doing so as well.
When i received my order there was included a warning of cancer and reproductive harm i would not have ordered it if i had know up front Why sell such an item? I am a repeat customer but will not order again from Village Hat
I would give it a zero star. If I could this is the cheapest quality hat that I've ever seen in my life there's no way this hat was made in Italy. I couldn't begin to explain the dissatisfaction on the quality of this hat I've seen better hats come from China, it wasn't even exactly the same picture that was posted on their website. This is totally a different hat. The inside lining is a joke. I couldn't wear this hat more than probably 30 times before it start falling apart. The lining is junk. There's no way that this hat cost $140 now I'm stuck paying the return shipping fee sad to know I was planning on buying more hats. All these reviews are nothing but fake written and submitted by the owner or people who work there there's no way that anybody would be satisfied with the quality that they're selling, totally disappointed that I had to wait to get the hat and had a called them wondering when it was going to be shipped out two weeks later in this big box, the hat didn't even weigh a pound the cheapest thinest leather I've ever seen this looks like the cheapest split leather no way this hat would ever hold up just on basic normal wear and tear cheap foam. Insert the stitching was horrible this hat looks like defective quality manufacturing. It looks like something they got for a discount price because the defects and then trying to sell it at full price. I knew that buying things online is difficult because you can't try the hat on but that wasn't the case this was just cheap crap quality craftsmanship along with cheap quality materials I could go on and on highly recommend that you don't buy a hat I could've bought the same hat on Amazon with free returns. I went to this company because they had a great reputation which was fake. Be aware don't buy from this company, dishonest, misleading, deceiving images on their website, I only hope that people see this review and refuse to buy from this company. That's how upset I am, like I said, I've seen better hats made in China. Shame on you and shame on selling this junk to people and misleading them and deceiving them. I don't care if you even reply back to my review, there's no excuse for this specially when you talk about your quality hats ……..
My beautiful hat came boxed with a special insert for my hat to sit in so it wouldn't get damaged with a this way up sticker on.
The hat is divine! So very happy with the design and quality and will wear it for my holiday in Madrid in a couple of weeks with pride.

I purchased 2 women's hats for a total of $59.90. I needed to return then as they did not fit. The cost to mail them back was $$29.69. Most places I shop either offer free returns or charge betweem $5.00 and $7.00 which is deducted from the return price. I will not be able to afford Village Hat Shop in the future unless they update their return policy.
I love DPC hats. The look is great the quality is really good but I'm finding out the online service may not be up to par. I ordered a cotton aussie hat and it arrived within 2 weeks. I used the sizing chart provided on the site. I measured and ordered the size the chart indicated but the hat is way to big. It's not even close enough to pad the hat lineing. So 1) the sizing chart is incorrect & 2) I'm waiting to see how or if the company will make it right. If they do or do not, I'll put another review on here and let you know.
Ordered a hat that cost $43.66 as a gift. The hat ended up being too big for the recipient. The store makes you cover your own shipping for returns. So even though the hat weighed almost nothing, it was a bigger box due to the style of the hat. To ship it back for a "return" cost me $33 (that was the cheapest option). So I'll get less than $10 back. I ended up ordering the hat in the correct size from a different retailer, so I've essentially bought this hat 3 times. I'm beyond unhappy with my experience with this shop.
While the hats I ordered were received in good time and condition, the subsequent deluge of spam I received in my email completely soured me on this company. Even though I wrote to them directly, and clicked on the "unsubscribe" button in their spam emails, I have continued to receive the spam from them.
They ruined it for me. I will never order another hat nor will I ever recommend purchases from this company again.
Pretty sad because I've had good experiences with their hats, but their customer service and over the top spamming has left a very foul taste in my mouth.
I ordered the Jaxon & James Harris Tweed Northbay Wool Newsboy Cap. The shipping was free and the hat arrived in two days. The Harris Tweed is top quality and so is the construction of the hat. I followed the sizing chart and the hat fits perfectly. I was so impressed with the quality of the Jaxon & James Harris Tweed Northbay Wool Newsboy Cap that I immediately ordered another Jaxon & James Harris Tweed Newsboy Cap in another color. I will definitely order from the Village Hat Shop again when I am in need of another hat.
When I was in San Diego in June
2022, I was recommended the store for a Fedora hat. A Staff member explained every hat and got the light brown Fedora I was looking for. I just found the stores site online and ordered the white and black including the feathers.
I'm currently in Philadelphia and received them quick. I definitely recommend this place for purchasing a Fedora hat.

I understand the need for small businesses to have the customer pay for return shipping, however, the price of return shipping makes exchanging a hat for a different size barely worth it. For a hat in which I paid $50 for, the return shipping to get one size smaller was $38. Now instead of a $50 dollar purchase, I am close to $90 down. The hat is overall nicely made and I enjoy it, however, in a business where often more than one purchase needs to be made to find the right fit, this is borderline scummy. It would have been at least nice for the company to offer a partial cover of the shipping at least, just to ease the sting a bit!
In the future I will be shopping for hats elsewhere, checking a return policy very closely before making any purchases.

I mesured my head and ordered the size according to their size chart. Check out was easy. The website is somewhat low tech but that's absolutely not a big deal. I had no issues with my order. Shipping was free and fast came in 4 days from order placed. Hat came in pristine condition, the exact hat I ordered. Will definitely buy from village hat shop again. I purchased a scala hat from a museum and was very happy with it until I washed it and it shrunk. I decided to buy a new one. I looked at the label and purchased what I thought was the same hat. It wasn't. No matter how I adjusted it I couldn't make it fit my head. I would not purchase another one.
Hi Valerie, I apologize if you were unhappy with your purchase. You are more than welcome to send it back for a refund but we aren't Scala we just sell their product. Scala has the Lanikai and the Lahaina which is the same hat but in two different sizes. Maybe the style you purchased from the museum was a Lahaina? Unfortunately I can't be much help without seeing the original item to help point you in the right direction but I am also not sure what we did to receive a one star review but I do apologize if you were unhappy with your purchase.
I paid for an item that has been lost in the mail. It made it close to where I live but they never delivered it. I wrote in and said that I wanted the money returned to my card. It has been over 7 business days and 4 weekend days. They ignored me so I just wrote again. If they ignore me I'll come back and write another review.

I ordered the hat over 45 days ago. They lost the first one, then sent another one.
XXL wrong size after I measured properly. Later told, today, they run large so order a size smaller.
Which I did, and they said it will be hereby 03/17 That, s 8 days from now.

Hi Joe, Unfortunately due to the fact that we offer free shipping on all of our orders it's impossible for us to be able to offer free return shipping as well. We simply aren't a big enough company to offer both options. I did look into your order and it looks like they refunded the $5 and updated your shipping to priority mail for free for the inconvenience and it looks like when we were out of the XL you wanted they sent you a more expensive hat that you approved of with no additional charge due to the inventory discrepancy. I do apologize that the purchase wasn't a smooth one but we did try our best to make up for our errors and better your experience. I am sorry that wasn't enough.
Answer: Legit company, but with terrible customer service. I've bought quite a few days from them over a couple of years and all went well, until there was a problem. Misinformation on their site led to me ordering a hat of the wrong size, and I then found out about their customer service. As mentioned above, it was terrible. I have since discovered that many other online reviewers have found out the same thing.

With the standard Canada shipping it goes through the post office instead of fedex so unfortunately it can get stuck in customs.
