VGChartz is one of the worst gaming sites I've ever been too! The community is VERY toxic! They sit there all day and just argue with each other over consoles/PCs! Not to mention if you're new it's hard to talk to people cause there are cliches.
Not only that they let some very unprofessional stuff happen on the forum with zero moderation! Not trying to be graphic, but one girl made a poll about where men like to ejaculate during sex! The sad thing is it's still there!
The site is poorly ran! Half the time I can't get the site to load and it's covered in ads! On mobile it's ten times worse! I tried to change some of my profile info not too long ago and the page kept automatically refreshing! It was so aggravating!
Where they get their sales numbers I have no idea at all! Their numbers are way off! They take FOREVER to update certain sale figures and others they purposely falsify! I feel like they update certain games or console sales based on how they feel about them! The people that run that site are extremely biased with certain brands.
The site is okay for news which they do get pretty fast, but the articles in general are written rather poorly. Like most things on that site the articles at time have some favoritism written in.
All in all, if you're looking for a gaming community to join I'd highly recommend you NOT join VGChartz. It's extremely unprofessional website.

I've been visiting gaming websites for a decade, and more so I've been a part of gaming forums for a decade as well. I say this to give you an idea of how involved I've been in the community, and I have never seen a website as unprofessional as VGChartz. After being a user for 5 years and becoming one of the most well known members on VGChartz, along with one of the all-time most active members on a monthly basis, I was constantly on edge for the baffling decisions by the staff.
We will start at the top as I believe that a leader should be able to set the tone......That is insinuating that VGChartz has a leader, because the owner of the website doesn't seem to care what happens on VGChartz. He is constantly late in publishing numbers, and even then they are inaccurate and falsified. Its embarrassing to quote numbers only to have real numbers come out a month later letting you know they were wrong. And you would think he can just adjust it so they're accurate, but for whatever reason he often times refuses to do that. I've even shown proof of some numbers by official statements, and he never changed them.
Then you look at the moderating staff.....You would think that a moderating staff could keep the few users they have under control as most threads are populated by the same couple dozen users, but instead you see one of the most dysfunctional moderating teams on the internet. With no real leadership they can't figure out what direction they want to take with hypocritical bans, and snide remarks. They treat their users with disrespect, and are a big reason the website has declined by 100% in activity in the last year. You would think the staff would at least be consistent, but they are by far one of the most inconsistent bunches I've ever seen, and it only gets worst by the year as they add more moderators. They have done some shady things in the past, and they continue with that today, so in that way they're consistent.
Even though I say that the moderating staff and leadership is sub-par you would think the content is good, but unfortunately for VGChartz their website looks to be running off scotch tape and paperclips. The site tends to fall apart once or twice a week giving the site down-time, and when it is up you're welcomed with a toxic community which can only be explained as racist, sexist, and homophobic. That would all be ok if the gaming forum itself was a good community, but instead they spend most of their time stealth trolling things they do not like. None of which gets solved by the moderating staff even though its a well known problem. Oh and if you expect to talk about games, you might as well go to another website because there isn't much talk about that. Most talk revolves around drama and negativity.
VGChartz also has their own writers, which in reality is lazily written articles about an article already written. As most websites do write articles about news from other sources, VGChartz tends to be so lazy about it that the article is more of a paragraph of the most generic statement that you could give than a fully written article that is actually interesting. What makes it worst is they view their forums as competition. I was actually punished for making too many threads as their head mod told me himself, "Our writers have to compete with you." This is no joke.
However what is a joke is VGChartz. A website without leadership, a misdirected moderating team, and toxic forums. I will say that some users on the website is good, but they are unfortunately drowned out by the bad and the moderating team does nothing to change that.

VGchartz gives you the statistics of the video game industry and it shows which games are the top sellers. No fancy editorials here telling you which game is the best, it simply says which is making the most money. No surprise Nintendo is cleaning up and dominating the industry once again. I knew when my own mom wanted a wii fit for her workout that Nintendo had really done their job of engaging the non-traditional gamer.
