Very cool exchange, at first it is very difficult to take an order, but when you take an order, you fly away in the 7 sky with happiness: D
At the moment I like everything
Stay away from these freelancers: Modern Developers who is Navneet Kaur and Mahesh Salunkhe! Upwork does not do any background checks on these guys and they jump platforms to stay avoidable.
It was not easy at first, but after knowing that the working system is very safe and comfortable, I hope that the cost cuts can be less

I signed up with Upwork as both a client and freelancer. I applied to so many jobs as a freelancer in about 20 varying capacities, only to find that only one was legitimate. When I posted a job for an appointment setter, I received notice that my account was flagged for vulgarity?! Nothing was vulgar in my job posting in any way, shape or form. I was seeking an appointment setter for my travel agency. When I tried to open a ticket I kept getting error messages. I then went into the desktop to just close my account altogether to find a message stating that I was unable to close my account until I closed all of my pending proposals with a hyperlink leading me to the proposals page... ostensibly. The proposals page only crashed and burned. I then tried to reach back out to support to determine how to go about cancelling the pending proposals only to then find out that I cannot even access the Upwork support page. Period. Do yourselves a favor: stay far, far, far away from Upwork. Really should be called fedup.
If I could leave less than 1 star, I would in a heartbeat.
I freelanced through Upwork when it was still oDesk. At first, as an absolutely green freelancer, it was great. That was until I stopped getting paid on contracts.
I was never paid almost 2k for articles completed on a contract run by oDesk themselves. The "editor" on the project claimed a portion was plagiarized, in spite of it being in quotations and the source properly cited (as per the instructions on the contract). I wasn't paid for any of the articles I'd submitted for the past month.
I learned my lesson at that point, but instead of closing my account then, I just left it, not thinking. Tonight, I tried logging in to delete the account, as I'm currently pursuing other work in the field again (willing to give it another try after 4 years), only to find that I can't close the account.
Even when initially working with them, I was disheartened by being passed over on contracts by other freelancers offering 1/10 of the fee that I was, only to be asked by the same client later to edit and fix the poor quality content the first freelancer provided.
I'd never work for a site like this again. User be warned.

"Great things takes time to achieve"
I hired a Brainstorm Force in India who was dishonest with me and deceived me. I hired them to help me gain internet presence and rank higher on search engines but I found out that during the time I hired them, I was never listed with any search engines. No one could find me! I didn't pay this freelancer to have no one find me on the internet! I couldn't believe it. I have proof that I was deceived by this freelancer and had to hire another company outside of Elance to fix this issue which is a big deal.
I called Elance and tried to get my money back but their process for refunding my money after funds are released through escrow is nonexistent. Basically, you won't get your money back even if a freelancer deceived you and it was fraud! Even requesting for a refund after a job is closed is pretty much 0%. It is up to the freelancer to refund my money and I'm 100% sure they will not refund my money. Elance has no process for dealing with fraud after escrow is released and since I didn't know much about search engine optimization, I believed the freelancing company I hired. I believed they were doing their job to help me succeed and gain internet visibility. BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART. I'm just sorry I hired this freelancer and I'm even more sorry that I went through Elance. I just want to get my hard earned money back.
Is there anything I can do to get my money back?
Upwork boasts of having TWELVE MILLION freelancers. Impressive. But if you are one of the 12 million, it is insane. How can 12 million freelancers expect to EVER get a job with Upwork? I have been with them for quite a while now, and have spent a lot of money for tokens in which to submit proposals. No matter how much I've tweaked my profile, no matter how much I've gone through their "training", I have yet to land one single gig. Then I got to thinking about it. At 15 cents a shot, and 12 million freelancers bidding on jobs,... that's a potential revenue of almost TWO MILLION DOLLARS for one job listing! And that is only if it cost only one token (they call them "connects"), but they all cost at least two connects, or 30 cents, so that's really around $3.5 million potential revenue off one job listing.
But my question is, What if they are posting FAKE JOB OFFERS? I can't prove it, but they say they award three million jobs to writers each year. That means at least nine million writers NEVER GET A JOB... even though they are spending no telling how much for tokens to bid on jobs! But if you really wanted to boost your revenue, what better way to do it than offering jobs that don't even exist! That way you can lure your freelancers into spending millions upon millions a year for the right to just bid on a job!
Remember, they are a billion dollar company... how in hell can they generate a billion dollars off of three million jobs awarded? THINK ABOUT IT. Especially since most of the jobs pay almost nothing.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
Those of us who went from Elance to Upwork need no catalog of Upwork's malfeasance. We need to join together to resurrect Elance, or something like it. Upwork must die.
Elance was great at first but I got notice that my account was closed due to "too much negative feedback." First off, I had a solid 5 stars on my reviews with clients saying that they would love to work with me again. Out of 10 projects that I worked on, I had two that I personally disputed.
Client number one and I MUTUALLY decided (based on her lack of direction and my inability to pull more information out of her) that her going with another designer would be beneficial. That was MY idea.
Client number two disappeared completely. We had our first meeting, discussed workflow and payment and then they stopped responding to me. I called, emailed through Elance... nothing. So I closed the project because I didn't want an open project that was going nowhere.
These two reasons are why Elance closed my account WITHOUT talking with me about it first. I received the email this morning and when I emailed them back asking for evidence, they responded saying "once it's closed it cannot be reopened." I replied with "I wasn't asking you to reopen my account, I was asking you for evidence."
Elance, I'm disappointed in you. I was a paid member and you didn't even have the decency to contact me to come to a resolution? Frankly, that's bad business and I for one do NOT appreciate the brush off when I inquired for more information. If I ran my business that way, I wouldn't HAVE a business.
I started an hourly contract with Prism capital sf via Upwork the client from the start wasn't professional wanted me to build her model with no measurements whatsoever. She claimed that she lost all the measurements. I had to use her hand sketch plan as reference and than she send me a site plan that is 19 INCHS by 23 INCHS yes you heard it right. I even double checked with the her and she informed me that what I have to use. On the due date for the first draft when the client received the work went a head and ended the contract without paying for any of the hrs I spend on her project. I contacted her vis Upwork massage's and basically just ignored me. I reached to her via email as Upwork informed me I should do and she blocked me after she told me that she did NOT hire me which is not true. Its insane that Upwork cant do anything about that the same as if you work with no contract, the same as if you work outside the platform. So why you charge us 20% for. When you even can NOT protract us from people with zero professionalism and zero work ethic, who basically want us to work for free.
If you are a freelancer run for your life they collect very sensitive info that no other competitive site does that. Also the take hug % of your pay and you HAVE to pay to apply for jobs that's 99% you may not get.
Upwork is One of the best freelance website in the world. Highly recommended for freelancers & employers.
Answer: They are horrible. Every freelancer I've gotten from Upwork has cost me more to fix the small job they have done. There's absolutely no customer service! I would stay away
Answer: This is not the place to inquire.
Answer: No, just 20% of your job when we talk about fixed price, and same for hourly but after some week it's been 10%
Answer: Go to Settings › Contact Info › Click the Close my account link. If you meet the requirements, click the button to confirm that you want to close your account.
Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
Answer: Because of their policy changes which are geared towards the client rather than the freelancer. They have dug their own grave with their policy changes of late.
Answer: Go to Get Paid on PC or Mobile, you will see 3 dots in front of your payment method, tap to select edit/remove to change them. Go to Billing Method on PC under Billing Section and tap three dots to change (edit/remove). Thanks
Answer: Be part and see, dont look at the sold mine reviews people, upwork can bush you to reach.
Answer: I agree with Sam. This place is a scam. They have bad reviews everywhere. Katrina is probably working for them!
