I have only good experience on Upwork. Its great platform for remote work. Getting jobs or finding freelancers to help to work on stuff that you need is realy easy. Freelances on Upwork have lot of opportunities to find various jobs that they need.
Do not sign up with this company on any of your future projects. Poor costumer service and bad support. I hired someone to finish a job for me, the name of this stupid unprofessional person is Sanjivani P. Do not hire this person! She was sitting in a cave in India probably watching YouTube videos how to build a website. Very poor service and no creativity at all. I've been charged $287 for a work that was not done properly and the job I assigned her was not done. She messed up all my previous work and she has no basic idea how to upload photos on a website. Poor communication and bad service. Whatever you say or do Noone will stand up for you. They don't care about their clients, they are trying to get as many hours as they can and as many money from you. Horrible experience!
1. Too expensive. 20% on the freelancer's side + some % on employer side + 1% transfer fee + monthly payment
2. Can't upload files more than 20M in the 'submit job' form, although can upload big file in the chat.
3. Have to pay $3500 to quit Upwork with a client
I am using Upwork for some time now and I am quite happy to say that it is the best platform for those who have the skill and who want to earn online by providing their services.
The only concern that I have with Upwork is their policy is a bit too strict about Job success score (JSS). Otherwise, I am quite happy with the services Upwork is providing. I will definitely recommend to all those who have tried many different ways to earn online that should try Upwork.
I am a freelancer who occasionally uses Upwork. I was ripped off last week by a client who canceled my contract and asked Upwork not to pay me. I protested this action to Upwork and requested arbitration. My protest was denied because "I had not taken notes on the work that I was doing." Upwork has screen shots of my work plus a copy of the completed work yet used a technicality to avoid payment. It is my belief that THERE IS NO ARBITRATION. Upwork will always side with the client. I placed a call to a "Dispute Resolution Specialist" who knew only enough to read from a prepared script. He was, of course, in India and had no ability whatsoever to interpret the dispute. I gave Upwork two stars instead of one because their website is at least much easier to use than others.
I am Recommending work on Upwork because they have nice and high quality of supporting for us as a freelancers and gives us all the attention to make our experience in their website extremely excellent, I love Upwork very much.
I've been work in Upwork (previously oDesk) for 8 years and they have been very helpful for me as a freelancer and I love that they are working to improve their platform and satisfy both sides (clients and freelancers).
I feel more and more comfortable working on Upwork and I am more and more satisfied with their assistance.
I am a skilled Tekla Draughtsman with over 12 years of experience. I worked as a project manager and drawing office manager but somehow, I am not skilled enough to join Upwork. I resubmitted my application 3 times, but they still think that I am not skilled enough. They wasted my time. Don't even bother with them big time waste.
Hello,
Elance is the biggest scam I have come across, my account had loads of connects which came with my membership.
I was accumulating them for few months, they suddenly suspended my account. This came wthout any warning or notification to me. There is no appeal process as well. I have lost connects worth months of membership money which they charged to my
Card. Biggest scammers, shameful company, I would never register in their workplace again.
With Regards,
Kscoped
After eLance was acquired by Upwork, we were forced to use this site. From the low level of support to the platform, everything has been a huge step back for us. And we can't even close our account since their system has been down since yesterday!
I wonder how worse a service company can be. STAY AWAY FROM THIS!
I joined Upwork or Elance as it was called then in 2014, when we started IoT solutions development and was looking to reach customers; clueless as we were, as to who they were and what they were looking for. Upwork not only gave us customers who were looking for cutting-edge solutions; the rating system kept us agile and sharp.
I am very happy with Upwork without which we wouldn't have developed our IoT capabilities.
The only issue I have is the lack of transparency in the rating system - we have had 100% job success score most of the time, but some times it is just reduced for a client not having communicated for long and keeping a project open. If we are given some warning before hand then we could take action; as we are not deliberately doing it. We stick to all the Upwork terms. Client responses to bids drastically comes down when the rating is anything less than 100.
I want to know which FEDERAL AGENCY I can ask to investigate this group. They take money into escrow and then it magicallly disappears. Freelancers write with complaints about money and completed work disappearing. The site is IMPOSSIBLE to navigate, with tabs and labels that make no sense. Oh! Do NOT enroll or sign up. So much of my outsourced work has been lost, incomplete, late or never even received by the bidder. On a side note, the freelancers are non English speakers who really cannot handle even mildly sophisticated projects.
They withheld the connects that I had subscribed for just because they were carried forward and though I was applying for the proposals clients did not respond. They do not have a stron policy for the payment that a freelancer makes. Very bad policy.
I started off way back when Elance and oDesk were still a thing, they were great but something was missing and then UpWork came to be. Rarely will you see a platform skyrocket to success like UpWork did but this is well justified. From the clean design, easy to use interface and lots of must-have features to a professional community that keeps on giving, super-friendly and helpful staff and plenty to explore, UpWork has it all and thereby remains in top of my list of best freelancing platforms that a freelancer must be on. For the 4 year's I've been a Top Rated member I have met some truly amazing people to work with. It's that one site where you enjoy your profession like you're meant to and earn extra needed to help you and your family. I have only the best of recommendations for UW!
I had 200usd from a job that wsn´t done and was refund and I left in my account. Now my money is not in my balance and upwork refuse to transfer my money to me.
According to the support:
"As we have not received any response nor action from our previous communication, the funds have already been sent to the state of Delaware on 02/18/2021."
They can´t give my money and if this is true, they have to pay to me.
To be honest UpWork is different than any of other applications, the high level security make upwork unique the quality of the clients and freelancers in the site are different, rarely to see inappropriate posts or tricky clients and freelancers, it the best olace to work in
At any moment they closed my account for verification. After passed verification could not import my profile from elance.com. After i put 5-6 bids they decided again to close my account - had not picked after 5-6 bids. Arrogant and greedy managers
Working on upwork was a wonderful experience, I started from newbie who has no working experience with clients and upwork helped me reaching wonderful clients all across the globe and now working as a freelancer is just wonderful feeling.
I spend over $******* on Upwork but when I hire (most Indian) freelancers they where all a disaster. No deadline reached, they lie about the work which is not done to get a payment, they log in for more hours. They drag the project to keep your for long time to benefit the payment.
I hired a Indian company who had a good feedback on Upwork. But then I found out they gave my work to students so they can focus on getting more projects.
At the end you pay triple the price than developing it in your country. No outsourcing for me anymore.
I WILL NEVER EVER USE UPWORK ANYMORE!
*******@hotmail.com for proof
Upwork technically is a safe platform to transact. However the processes to protect clients from fraudulent freelancers is flawed. I was scammed by freelancer Rehan Hamayun on an hourly contract. He billed 100% of his time in week one using the Activity tracking provided by Upwork. This activity tracking is flawed and cannot be trusted!
After week one, I did not get any deliverables, but the freelancer started asking a lot of valid clarification questions. This was a delay tactic to go beyond the 5 day dispute period. This continued into week two and that was when I started to get suspicious.
I now lost just under $2000 and received nothing. And as far as Upwork is concerned, all is legitimate.
Do not trust the Active hours! This is creating a sense of false security that work is actually done.
Do not trust the identity verification. Make sure you do your own verification.
You have 5 days to dispute anything! Make sure you get actual deliverables and do not get fooled with someone being very engaging!
Answer: They are horrible. Every freelancer I've gotten from Upwork has cost me more to fix the small job they have done. There's absolutely no customer service! I would stay away
Answer: This is not the place to inquire.
Answer: No, just 20% of your job when we talk about fixed price, and same for hourly but after some week it's been 10%
Answer: Go to Settings › Contact Info › Click the Close my account link. If you meet the requirements, click the button to confirm that you want to close your account.
Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
Answer: Because of their policy changes which are geared towards the client rather than the freelancer. They have dug their own grave with their policy changes of late.
Answer: Go to Get Paid on PC or Mobile, you will see 3 dots in front of your payment method, tap to select edit/remove to change them. Go to Billing Method on PC under Billing Section and tap three dots to change (edit/remove). Thanks
Answer: Be part and see, dont look at the sold mine reviews people, upwork can bush you to reach.
Answer: I agree with Sam. This place is a scam. They have bad reviews everywhere. Katrina is probably working for them!
Upwork has a rating of 2.3 stars from 2,123 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Upwork most frequently mention customer service, credit card and job success. Upwork ranks 7th among Freelancing sites.
