I've been working on the Upwork platform for a year and a half and my business has soared. The platform is easy to use, offers many resources such as a time tracker, invoice sheets, and lifetime billing data by client. The customer service team is always polite and resourceful, and I would not have the solid clients I currently have if it wasn't for Upworks vetting process. I have attempted to find other platforms to branch out, but none of the others have the ease of use and clientele. I highly recommend this platform to other freelancers that are masters of their trade.
I have used Elance before it became Upwork and the quality of providers was much higher. These days as long as someone can pass the basic ready test he is good to go and based on Upwork policys allowed to screw you out of time and money. If you and your contractor agree on terms Upwork does not care and allows them to bill you what they want. So if someone enters hrs you are stuck paying for services which where not delivered. Will be looking for a new platform to hire programming contractors as Upwork is becoming shady. They bill you Monday am, and before you can dispute something they deduct the $$ from your account. Legit companys give you a few days to review and you pay for undisputed amounts. But hey customer service is as bad as the platform itself as it is down multiple times a week
Do not use this company if you pay a freelancer and they do not deliver the product you will not get your money back without going though a ton of red tape and you money is lost. You could lose 10k faster in Vegas with better odds. Stay away. Its a scam...
Have been fetching projects through upwork since the time it was odesk. Its a great source, in fact the best one out there, for fetching projects online. Its trustworthy and the process is quite seamless. Great going upwork.
Odesk was best but Upwork is not so good. Customer support is very bad. Hourly job was completed but they still charged me weekly. I talked with customer support about this issue. But they never return my money.
I really like this platform. Because it is really helpful to grow your business. Anyone who wants to grow his/her business, they can come here. Because they are providing great options and opportunities. Thank you.
I just experienced the biggest nightmare of my life, working with an Upwork vendor. He's a 3D animator by the name of Sergey Petrukevich. He repeatedly tried to blackmail me for more money throughout the job. I kept Upwork in the loop during the project and afterward, asked them to sandbox him for good so he could not attempt to extort anyone else. They PUNISHED ME! Upwork obviously approves of their vendors holding clients to ransom for more money. It now all makes sense. The more a vendor robs a client of additional monies, the more Upwork gets paid. If you value your wallet and your sanity, avoid Upwork like the plague. For me, this was like fending off a rapist, reporting him to the police and then being thrown in prison for assaulting the person who tried to rape me. Yes, it was just about this bad.
I hired a free lancer on upwork, he took $1700 from me and literally did nothing. I wrote a review on upwork to warn other users. Upwork removed my review, instead they posted the free lancer's review on my profile.
I called and asked the reason, and no body had any satisfactory answer.
They have no talent at all to be honest... just be careful...
I have been using Upwork for over two years, and am a big fan. At that time I signed up for Upwork and Freelancer.com. Initially I got more offers for work from Freelancer with much less work, but then I saw that over half of these offers were from scammers looking to purchase my identity from me. Yikes!
Upwork's internal review and controls don't eliminate spammers, but greatly reduce it. Instead, I have had to fairly compete on an open marketplace for jobs that are posted and coming in all day every day.
Sure, I had to start with lower prices than the market would seem to be, but I worked hard, got good reviews, and started getting more work - and raising my prices. After becoming a Rising Star and then Top Rated, and maintaining a 100% JSS score (with the help of the ability to challenge the rare poor review) I now find Upwork a healthy supplement to my writing business.
I started working as a freelancer on this website and got success within a short time. The process is very simple and reliable. I'm choosing this platform for my freelancing career for a long term and I'm hopeful to get as much as success possible.
I had elance account with good profile and feedback. I didn't have any disputes or any complaints with clients. But suddenly my account closed by elance and never opened. Its completely scam site. Hope odesk wont be same after merger.
1. They charge 20% as commission from your earnings
2. In order to bid for projects, you need to pay and buy credits or you need to have a paid subscription which will cost you around 15 USD to 25 USD monthly
3. When you try to tranfer the money, they further charge 1 to 2%
Avoid this. I was a top rated freelancer in upwork and realize how they rob the money
For months I've been finding the perfect place to sell my skill to the global market and I found the right one "Upwork"
Within Two Months, I have grown to love the platform. It's Interface is functional and aesthetics are beautiful. I would recommend Upwork to as many legit Freelancer here in Nigeria, Africa.
Thank you
It's an amazing work and network platform. In my opinion, the strong points of Upwork, are the effectiveness of results, you really get jobs, you really get paid, it's very easy to get in touch with clients. And it has a very interesting jobs post, well paid. Every day Upwork is getting better and better!
I would like to share my experience about working on upwork as freelancer. Upwork is doing the best to make a great platform to support both freelancers and clients. It made great helpful update form the system during the covid 19 to help freelancer to get paid faster and to handle their other clients outside the platform. Thank you very much
I opened an account, uploaded an image of my state-issued driver's license and provided my tax information. A few days later, I received an email that my account was approved. However, when I tried to submit a proposal, I was given an error that my US location could not be verified. There was nothing I could do. I could not call anyone. I sent an email to support. Support would provide false & contradictory statements, one after another. The issue was NEVER resolved.
It appears they may be a bankruptcy waiting to happen.
TOTAL MORONS work in their Support group.
Upwork is a great platform for Freelancers and employers. I am a Freelancer on this platform and I am glad about my experience working there!
The most amazing thing about Upwork and its team is that they are always trying to improve the platform even more to guarantee both Clients' and Freelancers' satisfaction.
Upwork platform is a great place to work. I have been working there for several years and the connection between clients and contractors is very easy. Of course, the fee for the first 500$ earned with a client is 20% and it is a bit high, it offers a solid platform to work in. And also it incentives the long term work because the fees are being reduced once you grow up with a client.
Also, it offers a nice place to ger and gives feedbacks that allow contractors to find easily experts with a lot of work done.
I tested other platforms like Workana, Guru, and Freelancer, but Upwork is much better than those platforms.
Upwork is the best site for the freelancers.
I use upwork to find clients who need a video editor.
By now, i rate Upwork 5 stars!
I really like this site.
I will continue my collaboration with them for sure.
Upwork is a great platform for freelancers and their support is amazing. I have worked on other platforms but their support was not so good. I had a couple of issues in this week but their support got my back.
Answer: They are horrible. Every freelancer I've gotten from Upwork has cost me more to fix the small job they have done. There's absolutely no customer service! I would stay away
Answer: This is not the place to inquire.
Answer: No, just 20% of your job when we talk about fixed price, and same for hourly but after some week it's been 10%
Answer: Go to Settings › Contact Info › Click the Close my account link. If you meet the requirements, click the button to confirm that you want to close your account.
Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
Answer: Because of their policy changes which are geared towards the client rather than the freelancer. They have dug their own grave with their policy changes of late.
Answer: Go to Get Paid on PC or Mobile, you will see 3 dots in front of your payment method, tap to select edit/remove to change them. Go to Billing Method on PC under Billing Section and tap three dots to change (edit/remove). Thanks
Answer: Be part and see, dont look at the sold mine reviews people, upwork can bush you to reach.
Answer: I agree with Sam. This place is a scam. They have bad reviews everywhere. Katrina is probably working for them!
Upwork has a rating of 2.3 stars from 2,122 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Upwork most frequently mention customer service, credit card and job success. Upwork ranks 7th among Freelancing sites.
