U haul sucks I made an appointment 2 weeks ago to get a hitch installed on my daughters h3 hummer in augusta maine I brought it in today dropped it off only for them to call me 2 hours later and tell me they could not install it because they do not have a floor jack they advertise hitch instalation but don't have the tools to do the job very disappointing
How can I be forced to leave a one star when they deserve zero. Our family rented a U-Haul 26ft truck from Bloomington, MN to Colorado and it nearly killed me and my family. They knowingly gave us a truck with faulty breaks that leaked out and could of killed us. After contacting U-Haul they chose to do nothing. I'm deeply disappointed and need to make renters aware. I usually rent from Budget and should have stuck with them. At least they would have not put our lives on the line knowingly. Please be AWARE!
Happens every time, I book a specific trailer that showes in inventory at a specific location. I go through all their BS sign-in, email my license, blah blah. All good so far right? WRONG! After confriming the pickup with the store you will get a phone call from U-Haul telling you that NO, you don't really have a confirmed reservation and they don't have the trailer you spent 30 minutes booking. In fact they don't even offer you a viable solution. They can't be trusted, don't waste your time. We unded up renting a truck from Home Depot. Don't waste your time with U-Haul!
My truck was ordered AND confirmed to a different location than where it was actually located to pick up. One of the front desk girls was highly unprofessional and having a personal conversation with the girl who was checking me out... She was using extremely offensive vulgar language in front of me including the words "$#*! up" and "going ape$#*!" on someone.
Upon returning my truck, the store was busy and chaotic. I was instructed by the girls to "just leave the keys on the counter and we will manage all return trucks". Which I did. Upon receiving my bill, I had about $97 of extra, unexplained charges. After chatting with a Uhaul representative, it appeared that the odometer was not updated after my return and I was charged about 250 extra miles that I DID NOT USE.
I've been attempting to reach out and resolve this for days now and no one at Uhaul has reached out to me as they said they would. Each time you call or get transferred to a different department, it's about a 20-30 minute wait each time. If anyone needs to move anything, please send your business elsewhere and save yourself the headache.
Like many others, I'd give a 0 if I could. We rented and prepaid for a 26 foot Uhaul to move my sons home from college. We made the reservations a month ahead of time. Three days before the move I went to confirm. It turns out the place I rented from was no longer in business and nobody reached out to tell me this! Fast forward, the chat line disconnected me prior to the 3 minutes alloted to respond to their response (thanks Lindsey!). The second time I tried the chat line, it was well over the time I was told I'd get a response. I was on the phone several times throughout this experience and the wait was 25 min. Or longer EACH TIME. I finally was able to get in touch with someone only to be told the closest reservation was 20 miles past our location where we needed. That's 20 miles down and 20 miles back. We accepted because this was our only option as the apartment lease for our sons' apartment was up that weekend. We arrive at this out of the way location only to be told that the location was not set-up for this kind of pick-up. We found this out after spending an hour and a half at this location back and forth on the phone with Uhaul. We are told to go to ANOTHER location 40 MIN
Down the road in another state! That's ANOTHER 40 MIN out of the way and 40 MIN back to the second location which was already 20 miles off the beaten path. We finally get our Uhaul only to discover that it was on empty and it didn't have the dolly or furniture pads we requested. This is a billion dollar company! Frustrating! Never again will we work with company!
On both occasions I have used this service they charged me a very unrealistic amount for fuel even though I filled the fuel to the level when I rented them. On the first occasion, I had only traveled 11kms and my fuel charge was $30. I don't know how that is even possible. The second time I was charged $28 for a 30km trip. It's even harder to work out a dispute as no one returns your complaints. Never use this service again.
Toyota. Honda. Any Hatchback will fit. Can my car fit? Yes! Uhaul Storage 10x20x8 drive up storage can fit your car. A car can definitely fit in a 10 x 20 x 8 its the size of a one car garage with limited space surrounding the car. I probably should've taken a picture before I put anything inside the storage, but I did take a picture to give you guys an idea. I hope this helps anyone who's wondering.
Made a online rentalon a Monday for the following Saturday. Got a call on Friday telling me the location I picked & was given a confirmation for. Would not have the 26 ft truck I needed. That I would have to travel 44 miles away to pick up the truck. Making that a round trip of 88 miles to get a truck. Then was told it would be a one way rental instead of a roundtrip. I had 5 people beside my self going & only 1 other vehicle going. Then was told I would be called with the drop off location either in De where were moving or possibly NJ. Finally got them to agree to a roundtrip for the same price & an additional 150 miles. When I picked up truck the reservation was all screwed up. Went from 2 day rental to 1 day for an additional $350.00. Took over an HR to get it straightend out.
I have driven to over 3 separate location each time having a confirmed reservation for each location.
When I show up at the location there is NO AUTO TRANSPORT. I have never received notification that my reservation was moved. I have called the location to confirm it is there and when I show up they do not have it.
Scheduling department is not communicating with the locations and the customers are suffering. I have spent over $100 in diesel driving all over south Florida to secure an auto transport. I spent hours on hold being transferred from one department to another and need a manager to contact me IMMEDIATELY to resolve.
I have filled out 2 surveys and have not been contacted. I will continue to leave public reviews on Google, Facebook and Yelp. Until Uhual has contacted me and offered appropriate resolution.
This is absolutely the worst business I have ever dealt with.
I am confident middle school children could run a more organized and efficient business than Uhual
I rented a van had to move a few items return the truck filled up (40usd)gas did everything right. Uhaul held 83usd told me it would be returned 3weeks noone answers, nothing. This company is simply stealing my money. I'll never use again
You e been warned!
I have been charged two extra times for my rental. Save yourself the headache and us another company. They do not answer call or live chats. This company is a complete joke. I wish I would have done my homework better. So I am at fault for putting my trust in U-haul. Do yourself a favor do not use U-Haul.
Renters beware: Uhaul has in its fleet trucks with faulty gas tanks. The tanks won't fill past a half tank and it's unclear whether the problem with the gas line is dangerous. I know firsthand because I rented a truck for this location (San Mateo and Montgomery in Albuquerque) for a one-way, long distance move to coastal CA. Before checking out, I specifically asked the Uhaul rep at this location whether the truck had been looked over mechanically, as I couldn't afford any problems on my 1200-mile drive across the Mojave desert in hot temps. I was assured the truck had been looked over. Approximately 1.5 hours west of Albuquerque on I-40 I quickly learned there was a problem with the tank, when the truck would take more $150 in gas and would trigger each gas terminal to automatically shut off when the gauge reached 1/2 tank. Uhaul's customer service line was friendly, but the only option offered was to detour from my trip for a day or more while the truck was repaired. I pushed for a more reasonable resolution since I was now losing money and time after having to stop twice as much. This issue with the truck stretched a 17.5-hour drive to 24 hours and resulted in me having to stop every 1.5 to 2 hours. Getting compensated for this negligence has been exhausting, as Uhaul plays games and refuses to take responsibility.
Your takeaway: Rent from Penske. A little more expensive, but a much more professionally run business with a better fleet. If you have no choice in vendors, make Uhaul prove to you there are no issues with the tank.
U-haul is really a poor organized company. I reserved a truck from local u-haul on May 17 for May 28. Today when I go to sign in I discover then have changed my pick up location to a place 70 miles from my home. When I called to ask for help, the guy the place you can rent a truck from us is 70 miles away. This is such an inconvenience for me plus they are going to end up charging for the extra miles. Do yourself a favor and DONT rent from them anymore. Try someone else who want screw you
Please read until end. I had rental 4 X 8 trailer on 01/11/22. Was stolen with full stuff in it on 01/13/22 reported Police and Uhual with police report no. On 01/013/22.No. P*******. Uhual contract no. *******. Repwest insurance sent me email on 01/17/22 that your insurance is not cover theft. 05/02/22 U hual sent me email regarding due payment $317.61 after I find out from Police who working for my case that trailer was recovered on 01/18/22 and Uhual officer reported on 05/02/22 to them same date I get an email. I talked with Uhual officer on 05/09/22 and she don't have answer why they didn't inform me until 05/02 from 01/18/22. Only she told me to refund my rental fees and she refunded to me, but I ask her money is not important in this case what me & my family suffer for over 100 days is no one can imaging, that could reduce it, if I know by January 18th or 20th. I called U hual customer service so many time they listen me and no answer of my question that why they didn't inform me 3 1/2 month once they recover it, they hang up phone. Customer service say scheduling help you out when I call scheduling they say customer service help you out. That make me write a review today as on 05/26/22. Some one have to look in this matter what really done. Is it trailer really stolen or some thing else, or it's all big plot. Might all stolen trailer were a big scam. For other people awareness I will be put all matter on facebook, waiting for Uhual answer. And request all UHual officer to mind there honest business.
What's the point in making a reservation if the equipment in not guaranteed?!? At no time during the process was it mentioned that my reservation could be canceled due to equipment not being available. And then you cancel the day before?!? Like you didn't know this when I made the reservation 3 weeks ago. I hope Uhaul goes out of business!
So I rented a trailer In fact the person that reserved my rental reserved the wrong trailer but there was one available at an off turn off location And then I tried to talk to someone up is someone about my refund or my payments and the person on the phone at customer service through u-haul told me that I had to talk to the location I got it from well then this morning this morning I was getting emails from someone at u-haul saying that there's nothing they can do Right there shows that u-haul likes to lie to their customers and are not Company that they say they are considering this lady on the phone told me that that refunding my money after an issue was up to the location I got the trailer from The lady that started emailing me today even told me that she listened to the phone call and that her representative even told me it's up to the location but there's still nothing they can do
Very bad experience will not ever rent from them again they lied to me about removing a charge that was incorrect but never did was rude when I returned my rental just unbelievable bad do not use this company!
Due to the website failing to recognize my confirmed order, my timeline was backed up as I had to go out for my own supplies. Upon calling in to alert the company that I may not get the truck back in time, I was kept on the phone for over an hour (pressing me for time further) and this highly unprofessional reservations supervisor threatened to call the authorities and claim the truck stolen. I was also charged for 2 days of use when I had the truck in my possession for only 11.5 hours. I am absolutely repulsed by how awful this made my highly stressful moving experience and will be looking elsewhere for future moves. I am happy to give precise details to track that supervisor down and have her held accountable for threatening me and calling me a thief. Please reach out to me. Thank you.
PLEASE PLEASE don't reserve ANY movers from UHAUL, it is totally fraudulent! UHAUL will take your money to reserve the movers but then when you call the movers to confirm there number is unreachable and not listed and the address when you google them is a vacant lot smh scammers.
UHAUL is no help at all, go to Penske!
Rented from U-Haul fully recognizing I might have to get my rental from an alternate location. Responding to a text I checked in and was informed that would be the case. The problem is I rented both a truck and a car dolly but they were going to be in two separate locations. The associate informed me that they didn't have people who moved vehicles working for U-Haul and it wasn't in their job description so nobody was going to bring both pieces to one location. I was transferred to a supervisor who said it wasn't the company Didn't commit to having the truck where I had rented which we both agreed to. When she read the policy There is nowhere that it references locations (plural). Rather than try to meet my expectations she asked if I just wanted to cancel the reservation. No idea how global corporation Doesn't have a process for moving a vehicle a couple of miles down the road and why they wouldn't care about customer experience. Further I happen to be passing by one of the locations yesterday and they had multiple trucks and car dollies at one location so very confusing
Answer: Thought it would be cheaper but worst experience ever and they stole lots of $ from me.
Answer: UHAUL IS CHEATING PEOPLE OUT OF THERE MONEY. OVER CHARGES BY CHEATING YOU. There equipment clearly stated rent me $19.99per day. Not $109. Or $126.61. Per day.
Answer: Scammy. Just try leaving a negative review for uhaul itself (not the little mom n pop pickup/dropouts the big company responsible for the bull)...it's impossible
Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
