We had sitter destroy an expensive murphy bed, attempt to cover it up and then made up a lie about how it happened, neglected our dog. We had video evidence and all the company did was give them a warning, leaving them to destroy others property and neglect their animals. Then the company keeps stringing me along with the promise of paying the destruction. We call them Busted Housesitters now- don't trust them.

The last time I used THS I picked a sitter with 5 stars. 8 months later I am still discovering things that were stolen out of my house. When you use this service you are rolling the dice hoping these sitters are not thieves.THS does not know if these people are trustworthy or not. I learned the hardway. I will not be taking that chance again.
They are a scam. Stay away. I joined and they urged me to pay premium membership to get ease of mind for cancellations and better luck with sitters. When I relied on them to get a sitter who cancelled on the day of my trip, I had to find a super last minute and expensive sitter to cover my 4 animals at home. Then they started all sorts of nasty insurance tactics to not pay. I am still fighting after a month. Stay away folks. Worst support ever.
This scam has you working hard for free, trying to please fastidious rude owners, caring for their poorly trained dogs, with no live app support ever available. This is if you can ever find a sit. The app always takes the pet owners side in any situation.
Read the fine print. You can't have guests, it's on you to deep clean. I thought it would be like Airbnb with great pets. Very disappointed.
I have recently come back from my trip and found my flat upside down. My cats were miserable: starving and full of poop.
I discovered, through my neighbors, that there were 3 people living in my flat instead of 1.
I complained with trusted housesitters and they refused to give me the details of the pet sitter.
I have been writing them for the last few days with no answer!
This woman and the guys who were with her, are VANDALS and TrustedHousesitters UNRELIABLE and irresponsible.
I filed a criminal case at the police station.
We did a trial of this service but never used it. They enroll you in auto pay without disclosing, we were billed for a full year on auto pay. No one answers the phone on the site, emails to support go unanswered, best you can do is a chat bot which sends articles on why you cant get a refund past 14 days. Buyer beware - company seems to spend all its resources on SEO and ads.
Tip for consumers:
More transparency on billing practices, recurring billing not fully disclosed

The basic service was used on trial basis
This site gives a false sense of security. It is no more that a costly craiglist type listing of ppl who want to sit a home or list a home to sit. The site says background check, verify references and home contents protection... All bs.
Background check are voluntary and provided and payed for by the sitter references are not necessarily from actual sits but look like they are.
We confirmed a sit met the person in advance in person to feel them out... Seemed totally normal, leave on vacation... Get a call mid way through from local animal control telling us our dog was turned over to them apparently found in the park next door. Animal control found our front door left open sitter vanished. Turns out the sitter is the one who turned him over to animal control, not before attempting to enter a neighbor home and stealing clothes from their line. Our home was damaged (improper cleaning ruined antiques and our enamel oven, neither of which needed to be cleaned) she broke a figurine and a few glasses as well as leaving ac running despite us explicitly saying in home guide never to do this because leaks, our home was left by her many hours before we could return so our floors are damaged as well...
The home protection insurance on the site is again false advertising, fine print makes it clear you must claim in your home insurance, mediate with sitter for anything under 1000$ and only after using your own home insurance can you claim anything from trustedhousitter...
The fee you pay is pure profit to a site that claims to provide a service but only service is access to ppl who are interested in house sitting. Zero protection and no actual vetting of sitters. Buyer be extremely aware... And sitter be aware you are liable for all damages this site will not support or protect you.
We lost our on half our vacation, our brand new oven is ruined, our antiques damaged, and our home violated by having someone who totally misrepresented themselves and abandoned our home to be damaged.
Nothing trustworthy about this site waste of money.

Tip for consumers:
The site did refund our fee but we have zero follow up regarding damages
This site works well when Housesitters show up. But there is no guarantee and we have had several last-minute cancellations. This is really stressful when you have animals and a planned trip. Trustedhousesitters.com does not allow you to leave a review for a House Sitter that cancels. I think they should allow reviews in these cases so homeowners are aware.
An excellent option in the United Kingdom is House Sitters UK, offering a compelling alternative. It is free for hosts to join and costs less than £30 for sitters. Additionally, their customer service surpasses expectations. On the other hand, THS tends to label individuals as trolls if they express dissatisfaction with their reviews, displaying unprofessional conduct. I encourage you to visit the THS forum on Reddit, where people can freely share their opinions about the company without being subjected to moderation.

This site allows homeowners to use cameras to film you that are not required to be disclosed. It is "encouraged" but a quick review of it's forum will uncover sitters arriving to find out they are being tape recorded. Why would I let someone video me, what is going to happen to the video? Scary. Lots of complaints of sitters not being tidy is also on the forum. Even better the folks getting 5 star ratings are making dinner for the home owners to have when they arrive home... seriously! That is not in the ads.
We had a sitter at our house for 10 days who left the exterior irrigation system on for the whole period causing massive flooding in our basement. When trying to connect with Trusted House sitters via email and phone to discuss applying for coverage through their plan we have received Zero, I repeat Zero communication back. If they want word of mouth to spread about their program through social networks maybe they'd treat customers better.
I had a 45 yo male who appeared professional on paper. I truly believe he was just looking for a place to stay and NOT have to deal with caring for my pets. I came home to unhappy animals, a filthy house, my walls (2 different places) had liquid spilled on them and not cleaned up. This guy was a pig, literally!
Tip for consumers:
These are homeless people looking for a place to stay!

TH has made holidays much easier - as we have peace of mind at home knowing our "wee ones" will be looked after.
We've used Trusted Housesitters three times now and have hit the jackpot every time with really excellent sitters, twice for a month and once for a shorter stay. We'd have any of them back. We didn't worry about our house or pets at all wile we were traveling. I'm so glad this site exists!
For $110/year, you can post to find pet sitters as often as you need them. I've only used the service twice, but both my sitters have been fantastic. Both times I listed, I had offers very quickly from folks who wanted to come to Santa Fe, NM. The only reason I didn't leave it 5 stars was I found the system a bit difficult to use and no one ever answered the phone number they had when I tried to get questions answered. But, I did eventually figure how to operate their system. They have an option for you to do both, be a pet sitter and recipient of the services for only $30 more.
The NERVE of these rich people to list their houses on here and not pay people... ludicrous. We signed up because we thought it would be good to stay in some people's nice homes with some fun animals, but it is ALWAYS way more work than you expect and literally NEVER worth it unless it's a super nice house with like one cat. I can't believe this website even exists. In what world is this ethical at all?
Tip for consumers:
Don't.
I've been using this site for almost a year now and have to say it's a great option for a Digital Nomad like me. I've been to some epic parts of the world and have met some very cool people. Many of the house sits I do turn into friendships. I also love pets and this a total no-brainer for someone who enjoys quality time with fur balls but can't get their own due to one reason or another. I don't plan on using another house sit app any time soon. I get everything I need with this one. One thing that perhaps would help is to send reminders to the host that they should leave a Review for the Sitter. We all know how important those reviews are.
Phone line auto-hangs up on you and "live chat" is a bot that offers you to send team an email. The automated email response says "it is taking a number of days for us to reply". It does not cost $150+ per year per user to host a website and this business cannot even provide timely customer service so not sure what they are collecting the fee for.
Cool house sitting idea, poor execution. (Our sitter just cancelled last minute since it wouldn't be "ideal" for them to come anymore and I can't even leave the review/note on their profile to warn other hosts.)
This professional website primarily used for people with pets to find care while they travel is responsive to everyone with an easy to use website. I have a profile which has yielded mutually beneficial pet experiences. You can trust both the website and the people behind it.
Don't waste your money. They won't refund you no matter what. This is a trash site that claims your satisfaction but actually has zero customer service. They'll reply to this saying someone will reach out but I've contacted their support several times with no help. The risk of losing money or having an unqualified person in your home is high due to the fact they make it impossible to report scammers. Again just don't do it.
When our friend told us about Trusted Housesitters we were a bit skeptical. The whole thing sounded too good to be true! But once we looked into it we immediately signed up and have been blessed to find this service! Having someone you can trust watch your fur babies while you're out exploring the world is priceless! The sitter we found on this site watched our babies twice and took very good care of them and became a friend! The fee you pay is nothing compared to the price you pay to leave them at a kennel where they can suffer anxiety attacks because of all the noise and maybe not get the care and attention you think you're paying for. Trusted Housesitters makes finding a good pet sitter a much easier and stress free process! We recommend them to all of our friends!
Tip for consumers:
Interview your applicants and make sure you are comfortable with them. Make sure to cover all house rules before leaving on your trip.

Waste of time and money. Not worth the try. It is a complete frustration and when you ask somthing you don't get an proper answer, alson from the community who I believe are the same people of the website. You get a kick, to make you feel more frustrated then a proper answer.
Even getting to *apply* for a sit it like winning the lotto. Only five people are allowed to apply for each sit. I have given the site a very fair chance (six months), receiving email notifications daily for sits, and every single sit I have ever been interested in is not accepting applications by the time I click through to apply. Dozens, if not over a hundred failed attempts. I politely requested a pro-rated refund and there are no exceptions to their yearly commitments. Their suggestion was for me to download the app and get instant notifications so I can apply faster - but this is wildly impractical advice for someone with a full time job. Perhaps if you are unemployed and able to watch for notifications like a hawk to act IMMEDIATELY you'd enjoy the site but it's completely useless and and utter waste of money otherwise.
I was highly skeptical of this housesitter business... and I was highly doubtful that I would find someone at the very last minute for a month-long sit... but rest assured you can trust this service: I had 2 sitters interested, which surprised me... and although I was nervous to have a complete stranger in the house, I was thoroughly surprised at how caring my sitter was. We came home to a completely clean house and a very calm pet. Can't say enough good things about this service. Use it with confidence! Thank you, TrustedHousesitters!
