I have done 2 house sits. The people, the homes and the pets were wonderful. The website is easy to use. I have another sit scheduled in a couple of weeks. I get my animal fix and travel too. I suggest it to everyone I meet.
I am deducting 1 star for communication with the company. They do not return phone calls and it takes so many days to answer any questions. I think I have contacted them 3 times in 2 years. I will continue to use them I just hope I do not have a true emergency come up.

I have wanted to try Trusted House-sitters for quite a long time but was a bit nervous about staying in some stranger's home etc. The in-app messaging allowed us to get to know each other a little, the plentiful choices are exciting to see each day.

It really has been a lovely experience thus far. Even the bit where I needed to chat with the help desk regarding some account glitches. I felt the support was well provided so I felt I could reach out to if any issues arose. That is very important to me if I'm to consider traveling to a foreign place, sight unseen.

I truly felt that what they say about strangers being just friends you haven't met yet applied here. People who love animals deeply tend to be exactly the sort one wishes to be around! I'm looking forward to experiencing more of the world and it's people/ pets in this way!

For several years I have been a pet/house sitter on this website, as well as having pet/house sitters for our pets. Both perspectives have resulted in mixed experiences. We have had sitters who were truly excellent and really cared about our pets, as well as having respect for our home. The flip side is also true, sitters who took our dates for location, did as little as possible in caring for the pets, and left major damage to our house. Overall there are far fewer truly good sitters than one would expect, and finding those sitters requires reading between the lines of a profile, and looking for details in profile pictures. As a sitter I have had some wonderful experiences caring for pets and meeting their owners. Unfortunately, an equal amount of undesirable pet/house sits where the owners did not appreciate the time sitters give of themselves, and often owners refuse to write a review simply because it was a short sit. I have watched the website make 'improvements', which did little to help sitters or owners, as well as a few changes that were actually improvements. It does seem like the website owners have lost track of their original purpose, in favor of collecting high membership fees... or maybe that was their original purpose. In any case, sometimes it works great, and often it does not.

We feel so fortunate we found Trusted Housesitters after looking at other options for having someone look after our cat, Baxter, while we travel. Someone looking in on him for a half hour, twice a day was not an option. Neither was having him boarded or stay at another home. We used Trusted Housesitters for the first time. Posting an ad was easy and I was impressed by the amount of sitters applying and their qualifications and reviews. We found a perfect couple who were from our area but had been Housesitting in Europe for several months and were back in the states to visit family before they returned to Europe for another housesit. Lisa and Scott were a pleasure to meet and we felt very comfortable leaving our cat, Baxter, with them. Lisa sent pictures and updates on a regular basis which was reassuring and we were happy to see how comfortable Baxter was with them. When we returned after a long day of travel, they had a gift basket and dinner prepared for us. We already have two more trips planned for this winter, one for six weeks the other for four, and we were able to arrange housesitters for both trips. We look forward to working with Trusted Houseitters in the years to come.

We tried Trusted Housesitters for the first time this year and were impressed by the ease of the process. We had several qualified applicants for our one month house sit. The couple we chose did a wonderful job, and we came back to a clean and tidy home as well as happy and healthy pets (and houseplants!). Their communication was excellent, and their detailed questions helped me assemble a house sitters' manual that they felt was very helpful. We look forward to using this service again! We also look forward to providing pet sitting services in the future for other appreciative families.

Trusted Housesitters is far and away the better option for finding house and pet sitting gigs vs housecarers.com and Mindmyhouse.com. The website could use some better functionality but I am very happy with the service. As a sitter, I am able to provide my own references outside of Trusted Housesitters (eg previous employers and pet sit references from other sources) and provide my own background check. After my first pet sit through Trusted I was then reviewed by the host, much like on Airbnb, and I could leave a review of them as well. The sign up fee is a bit pricey, but if you are serious about finding a quality sitter, or a quality gig, then the fee is worth it. Certain areas have more sits available (like Canada, California, and England) but that is hardly the company's fault.

We've had great experiences in our sits but the only problem is that we constantly fall in love with the pets we take care of. Trusted housesitters provides a great way for home owners with pets to find suitable persons willing to care for both. I do suggest a phone conversation which gets everyone online to get to know each other and both sitters and pet owners feel to comfortable with each other. We can't wait to go on our next assignment!
