“Tripsite will bump you from your reservation and say it's a mistake. It happened twice!”

Tripsite twice now overbooked and tried to force me to share a tiny cabin. When I refused they offered a closet with bunk beds and no bathroom for a week long trip. When they fixed it the first time in 2020 I thought it was a mistake. Covid caused the trip to reschedule twice. Now they just did the same thing again. They will keep taking new bookings at their office and force people to room together then blame it on the Dutch office saying they make mistakes. The trip with my family I've waited 2 years for is ruined. Save yourself the stress!

Hi Roxanne, I'm sorry to read your comments. I don't understand you mentioning we overbooked you in 2020. I only see we RE-booked your reservation two years in a row and are so thankful for your patronage. In 2022 (after two very messy years) the local tour operator for your boat did mistakenly overbook your departure. This was simply not an error of Tripsite and we did everything we could to accommodate you. Fortunately your brother was kind enough to take a crew cabin and your reservation was unaffected. After all was said and done, we were able to book everyone as promised and no vacations were ruined! I do apologize for any stress caused. Thank you for your consideration.

Verified purchase

We are a group of four couples that booked a bike/barge in the summer of 2020. Covid cancelled it in 2020 and 2021. I tried to get our deposits back after the first cancellation. They would not return them saying we needed to pay the full balance and if the boat operator cancelled then it would be returned. I never trusted these people and was not going to give them additional $. I have had hotels and airlines return deposits in the past two years because of the extreme circumstances related to COVID. The only reason I just received my deposit(less a ridiculous administration fee) is because the boat operator cancelled the entire season. Thank goodness. Avoid this company.

Please feel free to research review sites that do not only reflect negative reviews!
Dennis - I apologize for your bad experience with us. Unfortunately the last two years in the travel business have been very messy and tour companies had to follow certain policies. We ALWAYS offered refunds to clients whose tours were cancelled by the boat/operator, or if Covid restrictions prevented clients from traveling. The only instance a refund was not offered, was when you chose to book another future tour and then asked to cancel. I am totally happy to discuss in detail any policies moving forward so please don't hesitate to ask.

Tripsite is NOT accountable, to their customers, regarding Covid-19. This company claims that their partners are the ones making the decision to cancel or not the bike tours, regardless of the pandemic we are ALL facing. Tripsite's contract does not consider natural disasters like; earthquakes, tsunamis and or the deadly, covid-19 virus. Their website covid-19 note, conveys the message that you and you alone are totally responsible for your well being and your life if you decide to go ahead with a tour booked 1 year in advance, but if you decide not to risk your life they will charge you a fortune to cancel. The options they offered, changed every day with every agent who, if you are lucky, answers you message. I insisted to get clear and specific information regarding how Tripsite would protect me if the barge company decided to have the tour going. But instead of reassuring me they were following totally safe protocols, the owner's daughter cancel my reservation. Be aware!

Tip for consumers:
If you try to find comments or reviews TRIPSITE has complete control of any page regarding reviews. You have to go everywhere in the internet to find independent, unfiltered honest reviews

Products used:
they are a bike and barge tour company.

Virginia -
We are disappointed to see this review. Over the last year and a half our family-owned company has done our best to support our local partners and stand by our clients in the most difficult time our company has seen in our 20+ years of business.
With that being said, we tried our best to keep you informed on the status of your trip, provide you with specific health and safety protocols, and comply the best we could with your demands. However, we could not guarantee things out of our control or outside of the terms and conditions that you read and agreed to. We also tried to provide you with information about travel insurance, which you declined.
Our terms and conditions have always mentioned natural disasters, pandemics and force majeure. We offer free cancellation, rebooking, and/or trip vouchers if the tour was cancelled because of a government mandate. Instead, you insisted on cancelling months before your tour date and therefore incurred a cancellation fee.
Our reviews on our website are honest, transparent, and admittedly not all 4/5 stars. And we are alright with that. We use feedback to improve our services and take every review very seriously. The only way a review would not show up on our website is if it is in violation of our community guidelines. This is standard practice and ensures all of our reviews are factual and verified clients.
We wish you the best but stand by our partners and service.
