This is the first time I've ever written an online review, about anything. But the incompetency and/or lack of understanding regarding anything related submitting a copyright, has forced me to share and document my unbelievably poor experience. After using Trademark Engine to submit a group of photos to the copyright office, a mistake was made and only 1 of the 10 photos was processed. As a result, I was told by the copyright office to re-submit the remaining 9 photos on a new application. Not ideal and everyone makes mistakes, I get it. So I forwarded the request to Trademark Engine and they said they'd take care of it. Literally over a month later, I find out they never submitted that new application, and probably would've never done so had I not asked about it. Now, fast forward another month and I just received yet another e-mail from the Copyright office saying another mistake has been made and that the new application Trademark Engine cannot be processed until this latest problem is resolved. The ironic part to all of this is that I used Trademark Engine because I had zero experience with submitting a copyright application and I wanted it to be done right and in a timely fashion. At this point, I'm literally blown away at how bad this company is at their job. It's beyond shocking and I ask everyone who is reading this to PLEASE use another service.

I hired Trademark Engine Jan 1st to file a basic brand registeration. Their Website clearly says it takes 5 days. No emails on status or progress was sent after 3 weeks. I had a chat with their Rep, and he said I should get application progressed in a few hours. I still did not receive any updates after 3 days. Spoke to customer service on phone and she can't committ to a day when the application will be processed, even though its been 3 weeks of delay already. One comment she made was that there is a huge backlog, but that is not my problem. They could do things like; stop receiving more applications than they are curently staffed to handle, hire more people or incentivice their staff to put in longer hours Or hire me to coach them. They need your money but fail to provide the service as advertised in their website and blaming customer application surge as reason for their ineptitude, seems not only awful but fraudulent. I wasted 3 weeks in vain, and ended up requesting a refund. I was compelled to write this to warn others to stay away from this company.

Scam
September 12, 2023

This company is a scam. They take your order but then try to get more and more out of you to to do what you originally ordred, and they dont ever file your trademarked. I was charged over$1300 to place an order for a trademark that was supposed to be $350. After sorting out how they double charged me, i had paid them close to $800 for my order, including extra for same day processing. Two weeks late i get an email saying my order was put on hold "per my request" which i did not do. There was nothing on my order in their portal stating any action needed, or any moneys due. When i called the rep was clearly stuttering and trying to lie and said oh it looks like you need to pay us an additional $350. Nowhere in the portal did it say that, so it dawned on me that this place was just trying to scam people out of money when they called back, a quick internet search proved they had scammed thousands of other people. So after asking her some questions to confirm it was obvious they were a scam company and i demanded a refund. They refunded some but are fighting to keep $99

Fraud Alert
December 28, 2022

The only reason they get one star is because that is the lowest score available. They don't deserve even one. I processed my application through trademarkengine.com, agreeing only to their $49 processing fee and declining every other paid option. At one point I clicked back through their form to check something, and when I clicked forward again the fee had increased to $99. When I canceled and started again it went back to $49. When complete, they sent me a confirmation email with my account details but when I tried to access my account I could not because the email address I was using was not recognized by their system. It was exactly the same email address they used to confirm my account details. I emailed them about this but they did not respond. The next day they sent me two invoices for $350 each which were in paid status. They had billed them both to the credit card I had used to process the $49 application fee. They had also enrolled me in a quarterly monitoring program, billed at $99 per month. I want to make it absolutely clear that every step of the application process at which I was offered a paid feature I declined it. They still have not responded to any of my emails or refund requests. It looks likely I will have to take them to court to get my money back. Do not do business with this company.

Online it shows that its the cheapest to trademark a logo. After talking to a customer service rep saying to "JUST" screen shot proof of my site and it should be good. Everything was not good!
I went to an actual trademark lawyer to file another logo and we ended up looking for my logo that was filed through trademark engine. He said that they filed the logo incorrectly with the black background and white logo. Why didnt trademark engine mention that to begin with?
Second issue was all the screen shots that was suppose to be good to go was actually not good. Now IM suppose to contact the lawyer reviewing my logo and send him more proof. After researching the office and lawyer turns out they were suppose to send me a link. Which was sent after the 3rd time i called them. Now I have to read all these pages and learn how to file it properly. So i paid them so i can basically do it myself.
The LAST issue is that it clearly states that they are not lawyers on the phone and the website. That shows that no one is really competent to Help.
The lawyer I spoke to said he recommend using Legazoom or just talk to an actual lawyer. Its worth spending the money and be legit than doing all this run around and hoping its done right.

Rip Off!
November 26, 2019

I received an email from USPTO basically telling me my application was not filled out incorrectly, which was a surprise, considering I hired a company who specializes in trademarking. So, I called Trademark Engine to get help on how to correct what was supposedly done wrong, only to be told I need to pay more money to have them fix the problem they created upon submitting the application. I was told that if my trademark was refused or there was an issue with the logo or wording I would have to pay, which I would be fine with that, but this is clearly a mistake on their part and I was told I need to pay more money for them to reply back to USPTO to fix the problem. To me it's seems like this may have been done intentionally to make more money or the person who submitted the application clearly doesn't have enough experience or just incompetent. Either way, I hired Trademark to save me time, not cost me money. For this reason along, I give them one star for not being customer driven. Should have just hired an attorney!

For my first Trademark, I was recommended to use Trademark Engine. That was a big mistake. The site doesn't do any extra work. YOU essentially are entering the EXACT fields that are required on the actual USPTO website and then they simply copy and paste all the fields on the USPTO website for you. I am NOT kidding - you can literally go and check both sites. You are paying $99 to Trademark Engine for just doing this. Oh and BTW, their nonsense about 'Researching to see if the TM is taken" is literally a 5 second job on the USPTO website. You just need to enter the Trademark term that you want in the search box (TEAS) and see if it has been taken. They make it sound like it is something massive.

Besides this, they actually had the nerve to over-charge me. So they charged their fee and they charged me $275 to file with the USPTO (the USPTO filing fee). It was only later, when the USPTO sent me the email confirmation, did I realize that the actual cost was only $225 - so they happily charged me $50 extra.

These people are scam artists and they refuse to talk to me about this or answer emails. I have filed a dispute now with my card (who told me that they will get the refund soon).

Stay away from this company and file yourself.

Hidden $200 fee

You'll get charged $200 for a "monitoring service" even if you opt out of it upon registration. And they won't refund or assist you at all.

Once I started searching for the trademark office's requirements, google flooded me with "you don't have to pay the government's $3500 fee, use us instead."
I fell for Trademark Engine LLC https://www.trademarkengine.com/, only $49.00.
1. That was November 27,2023 at 9:56:06 AM CST. I filled out their form and asked several questions, as neither process nor the form was clear. (I have a MS Engineering and an MBA.) I did the responsible thing and asked immediately how to proceed.
I got only an unctuous auto-bot, "our clients are important to us, we'll get back to you." They never did.
I send more emails. Same response.
2. I did my normal weekly transaction review (via Mint), and discovered TWO (2) charges for $49.00, The second was on November 27,2023 at 10:00:32 AM CST
3. Thinking this was a simple clerical error, I shot more emails. NEVER an answer, same unctuous email.
4. After several emails, only unctuous auto-bot, I discovered they managed to post an unauthorized $350 mystery fee. November 28,2023 at 9:56:47 AM CST
5. Only response to my queries on this: unctuous auto-bot.
6. It is clear that I'm a victim of FRAUD. I appealed to PayPal. Their response.
>>"Thank you for reporting this case. After our review, we found that certain transactions weren't unauthorized and hence couldn't be covered by PayPal Purchase Protection."<<
7. Translation: The Trademark Engine charges are FRAUDulent, and thus not PayPal's issue.
8. A flurry of more emails, during which I got another charge: $199.00,12/7/23 6:09 AM CST
9. I've sent several emails requesting, initially polite, requesting refund, with the same auto-bot email.
10. When they reponded, Never to me, but to PayPal was the $199 is a fee for a so far invisible service. Unrefundable after 14 days. They RAN OUT THE CLOCK. Thus, I'm stuck with the invisible service charge of $199.
11. The last response, and only through PayPal, never directly was: a) I have to call them directly to complain about fraud on their part. I've tried 4 times, and got a busy signal.

Absolute FRAUD based on my understanding of the byzantine non-responses to me and PayPal.

Fraud is Crime - This Company Should Be Closed
February 20, 2023

As a professional for over 20 years I appreciate transparency... Trademark Engine is NOT transparent at all. And here is why:
--
They begin by advertising $49 dollars for the service without being fully transparent of additional charges. I signed up for it and paid $49 yesterday.
--
This morning I saw they tried to charge my card $350 which I imagined was from the state department but again, NOT transparent at all and I went online to see reviews and there it was, thousands of fake "good reviews" so I decided to call customer service
--
As soon as I call I say "I want to cancel" and without ANY hesitation, they cancelled - I get an email saying: "subscription of $99.00 USD monthly to Quarterly Trademark Infringement Monitoring is now Canceled." -- THIS IS FRAUD -- I NEVER signup for this in the first place, ever!
--
WHY is this company even active --> this is STEALING plain and simple.
--
I told the customer lady I want NOTHING to do with this company, ever! I asked for full refund.
--
STAY AWAY from this company!
STAY AWAY.

I'm trying to start a consulting business, but I'm not loaded with money, just knowledge and a talented team and we'd like to at least secure our name and imagery. I'm sure your actual services are great, obviously you have five star reviews everywhere.

However, I'm extremely unimpressed with the Dark Patterns used on your website (https://www.darkpatterns.org/types-of-dark-pattern/sneak-into-basket). I know it's not a full "sneak into basket" dark pattern, but it's similar because I didn't see any mention of the additional federal charges to come at least mentioned in my basket -- I reviewed my purchase for $69.00 (Trademark Reg), $59.00 (Certified Copy add-on), and $99 (Statement of Use add-on) and expected those to be my final totals. Three days later, I got 3x charges of 350 (explanations in billing records) + an additional 59 (no explanation) and 69 dollar charge (no explanation). When I spoke to customer service, they explained there is a note that says the government will also charge 350 per item -- I missed this and I'll take the blame for that, but I didn't see it in plain sight either. Not all end users are slow paced. When I suddenly get a message from my credit card company saying a "purchase was declined for 350" I become very upset. Most end users are in a hurry because they don't want to spend a lot of time on a website to buy a product, so make sure these charges are visible at the end, even if they won't be charged today.

My other complaint is how you handle the add-ons. I recall there was no way to "go back" or "undo" after selecting an addon, you just had to keep going through until you finished. I view this as a dark pattern as well and it takes advantage of users without giving them an option to immediately undo their choice, instead they have to wait to get to the cart. Or maybe it is there, but extremely hard to find... which is the point of a dark pattern.

I'll use Trademark Engine when some of these UX designs and content are updated. You do have a solid service, but terrible UX design choices destroy a good product.

Customer service is excellent, I will say that 5/5. But you get an instant 0/5 (1/5 in this case) if there is even a hint of bad UX design in your digital product.
