I designed and developed with Wordpress a website for a client who owns a soccer school for kids. The client was quite inexperienced and at first it wasn't the easiest person to work with, but I managed to explain the process and let him understand how everything worked. Eventually, we got along fairly well and the work went smoothly. Overall I'm fairly satisfied by the product, even though there are some limitations and improvements needed. I told that to the client but he preferred to cut short the work for budget reasons. He was happy with a functional, working website, at least at this stage.

Freelancing as a Designer at Toptal has been a satisfying experience so far. The onboarding process is certainly challenging but what is offered in return is being part of a selected network, where you have to deal with high-quality clients, and not a simple marketplace. The support team and the contact points between freelancers and clients allow you to work with more peace of mind and everything from invoicing to communication is taken care of by the team. I highly recommend it.

It's a good network overall. They are very helpful in getting projects and the resources they make available are outstanding.

I have noticed that being myself from the Middle East with most of my experience in the region I haven't been able to land a single interview with Western Hemisphere Cos which makes sense but is a bit frustrating since there aren't many opportunities in my field coming into the toptal network from the Middle East.

Toptal allows you to connect to the best clients on the market in no time. The average time for finding a job there was less than a week and the experiences were great.
Toptal community provides discussions on various topics, educational tools, local meetups, and even some hobby activities (e.g. I participated in the Toptal chess tournament).
If you want to kickstart your freelance carrier it is a place to go.

It was my first experience and it has been great to work clients. Toptal has very good clients and its onboarding process and communication with client is amazing. Clients are very passionate and professional about working and collaborating to get best result. Client shared documented scope of work items and they are very clear about their goal.

There was no wastage of effort as we had bi-weekly meeting and had incremental deployment and and releases in true lean and agile manner. Documentation and KT was so smooth that it happened in parallel and client is able to handle the code and local deployment also.

Toptal has made me feel like designer Ninja in this past two years. The quality of work, matcher skills, process of landing a project, payment on time to the wrapping of the project are all flawless and so streamlined. Toptal has allowed me to focus on my skills as a designer and do what I do best without the peripheral stress of other details that are always entailed when taking on a project. This platform has been a game changer for me as a designer in my 17 years of work experience!

I was initial cautious about joining TopTal as I had been on other sites and seen how the rates paid were very low but TopTal has very good rates and pays on time every fortnight.

My one critism is that they don't pay you directly like most clients but instead into their own payments system and you have to pay $0.50 to transfer the money out. In the grand scheme of things it is fine but grating every time!

The matchers/account execs at TopTal are always generally available within a short time of frame and are always super helpful.
