Worst customer service ever! Website glitches while I am making the order and it took so long for "Jovelyn Eve" to look into my order while I was on hold it went to processing and I was no longer able to cancel it. It's a scam.
It depends on what you plan on buying. If you are buying toys or accessories it's amazing. I had a problem with buying clothes online. I purchased three different shirts through the site, all said they were women's XL. Open the box and boy was I surprised. Two of the shirts were clearly smaller than a women's xl (My sister is very tiny and they were snug even on here. I'd say a women's small maybe.) The third shirt was definitely XL width wise, but was very tiny length wise. Customer service wasn't able to tell me why the shirts that all said women's xl were clearly different sizes, but returning them was easy enough.
Never received my items but they still want to charge shipping/duties/customs/product. Unbelievably rude customer service. Totally useless. Won't fix problems. I was an AVID customer until this. Guess businesses really show their true colours once things go awry. Take my advice and just call Visa and get the charges reversed. That was the only way I got resolution.
Unquestionably the worst customer service I have ever encountered. They really mean it when they call themselves "service monkeys". Rude chat agents and arrogant personnel.
ThinkGeek is a terrible site for customer service and problem resolution. They really don't care. You'll get lots of "I'm Sorry's" that sound a lot like "Too bad, deal with it's". Site never updates with stock properly and they will not rectify the problems they create.
Their shipping is also astronomical if you buy international and their prices on items in general are less than stellar. I wouldn't recommend this site at all. I've tried multiple times and always get some kind of grief so I've given up on them. There are far better places to get your geeky needs on the internet.
Great site with great merch. Prices are a little high, especially for licensed products, but sales are frequent and useful. Only downside is this site takes too much of my money.
Always a pleasant experience dealing with these folks. Prompt response and shipping times... nothing but good stuff
My boyfriend is a bit of a Breaking Bad 'enthusiast.' (Nicer word than geek, but he's a geek) He sends me links to thinkgeek all the time and generally I smile and nod but his birthday is coming up this weekend so I looked back at all of the old links and ordered a bunch of stuff o ThinkGeek.
I couldn't be more pleased. Things were reasonably priced which is rare for items that are show branded generally. My items were all shipped in one box, and I received them in only about 3 business days I believe. Plenty of time before his birthday and I have a feeling he is going to be very happy with all these geeked out gifts!
Thanks ThinkGeek =)
I used to love thinkgeek. I would spend way too much money on that website (I think I'm well over $1,000 spent on thinkgeek).
But for the past few weeks paypal/billmelater hasn't been working for some of my friends and me on their site.
Paypal/billmelater so far has worked fine for me this week on: Ebay, walmart, and teefury
But not thinkgeek. I tried speaking to customer service and they refuse to listen to my friends and me when we tell them that there isn't anything wrong with our paypal accounts. The responses from their customer service reps have ranged from nice, but useless, to dismissive and rude. I don't even want to try anymore.
I think I'm just going to have to forget the website exists, since they don't seem to care about a problem that is impacting more than one of their customers.
I LOVE thinkgeek, I've been shopping here for years. I mostly shop here for gifts, either for my hardcore geek cousin for christmas, or my fiance who is only a little bit geeky for valentine's day, I can find something good and fun no matter the recipient or occasion!
This website is AWESOME! I buy everything for my boyfriend and guy friends here. It literally makes me break the bank. They have things on here that are cheaper than on amazon. I LIKE! & My boyfriend loves it too!
Two items we received from here looked great but didn't work, one was a simple timer and the other a heated coffee mug which did work for 2 months. Think geek will do nothing to remedy the situation at all.
Ordered a Light Up Newton's Cradle for my son for Christmas. Right out of the box it did not work. Called the Help Desk and they rush shipped a second one to us. The second one didn't work either. Called Help Desk again and was told they were having numerous issues with the item so please return and they would refund my purchase. They refunded the purchase price when I called back, BUT even after telling me that they could not refund shipping, I noticed a credit to my charge card a few days later. All in all, the product was not up to snuff, but thinkgeek.com did do their best to make it right.
Great stuff for nerds, geeks, and creative types. Where else could you find a Bantha sleeping bag, a Dr. Who beach towel, and a DIY phonograph kit?
I received a Christmas gift from this site, which turned out to be wrong because it was a unisex item and my mom thought it was women's. Fine, I thought I would return it to get the right item. 20 emails and 3 ineffective reps later, I have no item. It took multiple tries to get credit in the first place, which cannot be done directly through the site. (You have to be the original purchaser AND have registered.) Once I did receive it--mind you, after they mistakenly sent a gift card to my dad and then canceled it, confusing him and ticking him off--I attempted to order the replacement. I got all the way to the end and kept getting an error when I chose PayPal to pay the difference (which was only the cost of the THIRD round of shipping). So I took the live chat option. The rep blamed PayPal and said the only option was to give them my credit card. (Keep in mind, we're still down 40 bucks, and shipping charges two ways. So far at every turn they've failed to help. I'm totally not trusting them with my card.) Frustrated with her one-option-only non solution, I canceled the order and wrote again to customer service. Yup. Rep's right. PayPal's fault. Only option is to call and give us your credit card, lady.
My parents and I are now down $55 or so and no item to show for it. Their website does not function. Their customer service reps cannot offer solutions. They refuse to acknowledge that their site doesn't work. I give up.
Fun website with lots of geeky goods for the nerd initiated. You will find things here that won't be on Amazon and are, frankly, cheaper. It's a busy site though and lots of photos and information that is laid out more like a dictionary than a well-planned out store. But it has your goods and is worth checking out for a fun gift.
This site has some cool, unique stuff! Definitely worth checking out, especially if you or someone you know is into tech-y/nerdy stuff. My boyfriend got a hoodie from this website and it was in the mail about 24 hrs after payment. There were some UPS complications but that is not the websites fault.
For the nerd in everyone!
Quality has only been cheap once out of MANY orders. I am always happy with the variety of items, swiftness, and customer service.
Pricing can vary from cheap to expensive, but this site is just TOO COOL!
A wonderful site with a user friendly layout.
I've been purchasing from this website for almost as long as it's been in existence and only had to contact customer service once. It was for a mug that was not as pictured and I was refunded in full. No complaints other than that. Prices on items and shipping are better than competing websites and the Geek Points are a great incentive too.
Definitely has a "truck-load" of fun and unique 'stuff". Actually, really cool products. That being said, most things are not inexpensive (double negative... oops... lol) and can be found elsewhere on the net for much less. It saddens me to say this because I've been a customer there for years.
I've never had any problems with delivery/returns/customer service so that certainly deserves a positive mention. Check it out.
