“Over payment on Contract Price - Trying to get Refund for Over 7 Months”

James R.
2/17/22

My contract price, including TTL, is $38,233.18. My cash payments, including down payment, is $38,733.18. $500.00 down payment was not credited to the correct vehicle. I have a receipt for all payments. Vroom refuses to give me a refund and does not seem to understand the issue. I call weekly to customer service and they promise to have a supervisor give me a call, which has never happened. Do not do business with Texas Direct Auto powered by Vroom.

Tip for consumers:
Vroom does not catch their own errors. Getting in touch with a supervisor is absolutely impossible. They promise call backs to solve the issue and it NEVER happens!

Bought a car, was told it had 12,000 miles on it, that it had powertrain warranty. 10 days later I was stranded on the freeway, obstructing traffic…, very much in a dangerous situation. The car had shut off completely, and there was a gas leak, with cars speeding around me on both sides. Vehicle was towed to a brand dealership where I learned Texas Direct sold me a vehicle with a none factory engine, the fuel line had not been correctly attached, and there was no warranty because it wasn't the original engine, and they had no idea how many miles were on the engine in the car! Smh
Was told because it was past the 7 day return rule there was nothing they could do. Just like that I was out $500 after having my life in danger! Smh!

I purchased a vehicle for my son's graduation on Saturday, June 28. I learned by way of email that I will be furloughed do to Covid 19. Do to these circumstances, I could not keep the vehicle for my son which was extremely horrible to say the least.

I called on Monday, as soon as the dealership opened to let them know I could not keep the vehicle do to loosing my job. They instructed me to bring the vehicle in and everything will be taken care of. I was met at the dealership with the salesman I purchased the car from, John Busany. I explain my situation and he tells me you have a $600 restocking fee. I told him I bought the car not even 24hrs. Ago and I have lost my job! He tells me " "sorry it's our policy." I then ask to speak to a manage, named JIMMY. I Told him my situation and the reason for the return. As callous and unempathetic, he looks at me and says, "sorry it's our policy."

I called VROOM corporate to get any type customer service. I was told by a supervisor that they have the discretion to wave the fees and he stated do to your circumstances, they should absolutely assist you.

I spoke back to JIMMY, the manager in Houston at TEXAS DIRECT AUTO, again and told him what the supervisor stated; I too reiterated my situation being that I lost my job. He absolutely did not care! I looked at the other manager, STEPHANIE and told her as well. She said,
"Sorry".

Please Please Please! Do Not Do Business With People who would take $600 from a customer after purchasing a car and returning within 24hrs. And have lost their job do to Covid 19! I would not buy toilet paper from a company with service such as this. Buy from a dealership that believes in caring for their customers and believes in relationship building! I found that at STERLING MCCALL TOYOTA but my salesman there had also furloughed.

ExTremely Poor Service! I will speak to the GENERAL MANAGER to see it I find some type of service and resolution. I WILL BE UPDATING MY POST WITH THE OUTCOME...

What a terrible car buying experience! They really don't seem to care about the customer during and especially after the sale. I could write for days on what went wrong with this car purchase but I'll just mention the key issues:

It started with seven different salespeople reaching out to me with the exact scripted email "just following up on our phone call" even though only one salesperson spoke with me on the phone. Then they either wouldn't answer my direct questions or gave me conflicting answers. The only salesperson to effectively help me was Marcus Spivey.

Once they delivered the car, it had previous damage done to the front bumper and hood. It was repaired but I didn't know the extent of the damage and Carfax said it was clean. I didn't want to take the vehicle because they needed my trade upon taking delivery although that was never confirmed before the transaction happened so I refused the vehicle.

This is when everything went from bad to horrendous. Marcus and his team at Texas direct and Vroom accidentally paid off my trade and collected the title! Accidents happen but I needed the title ASAP because I ended up purchasing locally and selling my car on eBay and now he needed my title.

Marcus refused to speak with me through phone or email because I didn't buy from them even though I just needed to pay them for my car I never traded with them and get the title. Over the next 25 days, I called Vroom and Texas direct more than once every single day and every single time, they said someone would call me back ASAP.

I never received a call. Finally, the eBay customer that bought my vehicle called Texas direct and lit them up on the phone and guess what, they called me within 20 minutes and said they'll handle it ASAP.

Finally, they sent me an email to fill out a review and I gave them negative marks. The customer service department responded to me on three different occasions and said a manager would contact me ASAP. It's been two months and nobody has ever attempted to contact me and try to make it right.

You'll get a good price but is it really worth the aggravation? I don't think so.

Tried to sell them my 2013 BMW Z4. Went to the dealership in Stafford, Texas to have the vehicle appraised.

I requested to be present when they appraised the vehicle. They ignored that request. I discovered them at my vehicle without my permission. It had been driven without my consent. The vehicle was damaged when they drove it.

The appraiser and his sidekick were rude to me when I asked what he was doing. The information that I wanted to be present at appraisal was on the top of his information. He was either incompetent or stupid.

To top it off they lowballed the appraisal on the vehicle. Never buy from or sell to TEXASDIRECTAUTO TEXAS DIRECT AUTO.

CarMax is a far superior company. CarMax offered me $2,000 more for my vehicle than Texas Direct Auto did. Yes. You read that right. Two Thousand Dollars.

STRONGLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING TEXASDIRECTAUTO DEALERSHIP
