Great product and round the year support for 1099 NEC efiling., I was super excited to see how QBD could not support my prior year efiling for clinets that I had recently onboarded and Tax1099 could go back 3 yeras and let me complete my prior year 1099 MISC and current year NEC late filing. Super affordable and great support.
Very Poor Customer Service - bots didn't understand my questions and then the email responses did not respond to my question, were like bot answers. There was no phone number to call, so I was stuck. I was not happy with their website and set-up - and it is more expensive than a competitor. I would not recommend this company to anyone!
The service works well if you have a simple 1099 to follow and are not worried too terribly about security or any issues you may have once you hit the submit button. I have reached out to the support team a number of times over the period of 1 week and received only one generic response referring me to a support link on the site that did not function. If you have a handful of 1099s to issue every year you are better off going through the fairly long process of registering with the IRS to use their FIRE system. The up front investment of time in the IRS system will save you time in the long run vs trying to get support from this site.
We're a CPA firm and file 1099's for over 200 entities. We used Tax1099 for the 2021 1099's and were quite pleased. They convinced us to upgrade to Enterprise so all of our staff could be under one umbrella and share data. I upgraded early so they the process of combining our users could be completed far in advance of the season. Then I was informed that I would have to renew again, which I did, but now I'm informed that my November renewal is an extra $100 (after I renewed based on the website price). Fine - not happy but... Now we're been informed that the product we purchased no longer includes the 1,000 free TIN matches - the cost is a $1 each. Irritating yes, but here's the kickier. Never were we informed that the per return prices had tripled from:
The first 1-10 forms - 90 cents to $2.99 each
The 11 - 150 forms - 55 cents to $1.99 each
The 151 - 500 forms are $1.19 each Don't really remember last year's price.
In addition, mailing went from $1.50 to $1.75 per return. And the pricing is based on EIN reporter and not the number of returns we file.
Apparently they don't keep their sales people informed about pricing and the website pricing isn't accurate either. Looking for a new service for 2022 returns.
Tip for consumers:
Make sure you understand their pricing before your move forward

I am a CPA in practice for 30 years. Came upon this because QuickBooks associated this poor service with their software - and as a QB Advisor I will let them know this as well. Tax1099.com WASTED MY TIME when I was trying so much to be more efficient this year. I'll start with HORRIBLE tech support. Only available by chat, wasting time watching the text bubbles, and then trying to describe the issue, to only wait for them to give me the wrong answer or an answer that creates more questions. I had to double check every recipient including that the information will upload to the State because the poor excuse for tax software will upload to the State of the contractor's address not considering the State requires the Payor to report the 1099 for all contractors that worked in the State. If you upload the info from QB and WASTE time fixing the recipient errors and then go to the next screen, you find out you are missing Payor information but there is not way to save all the editing completed to update the Payor information. And then you need to be sure to log out and log in again as well as from your QB file, just to be sure. Has terrible upload program instructions and even worse customer support. I WILL NOT USE again.
I used for tax year 2018 for my two companies... no problem (or at least I thought so then).
Fast forward to tax year 2019 and it is nothing short of a nightmare. First of all, for one of the companies, it shows my 2018 records under 2019 to be filed in 2020! Didn't they file it in 2019 and hence shouldn't be filed again? For another company, it shows nothing for 2018 and nothing for 2019 even though I filed 2019...
I have no way to know and customer support couldn't help.
Will not recommend it, will not use it again... what a pain.
I submitted a 1099-MISC on 1/25/2016. The site showed that they would be transmitted 1/31/2017. I was unable to change the date on transmission, which seemed unreasonable but at least the filing deadline would be met. The process took a lot longer than I expected.
I expected at least an email notification confirming that the agency had accepted the transmission. As of 2/2/2017, no confirmation, and I cannot find confirmation on the site either. I efile payroll returns thru QuickBooks and always see agency acceptance confirmations the same day. There is also a history of all filings in QB. There is no record of filing 1099's in QB with this system.
I don't wish to use a system that doesn't assure me that I am in compliance with filing requirements, especially since I file on behalf of clients, nor record a history of filings in my accounting software.

Hi Heidi, thank you for your candid feedback. In regards to the IRS confirmation, typically they go out 3 - 5 days after the submission. If you send us an e-mail at support@tax1099.com with Subject "SiteJabber", we can look further into this and work with you to resolve any issues or questions you may have. Thanks -Tom.
