Yep. Imagine having stripe hold your money or you being hacked and having no idea of how much you have lost or any clue about what has happened. Now imagine the only connection to this company are robotic sounding fillipinos that follow scripts and cannot deviate from a script at all. Void of any emotion void of any personality just a script that they are reading because they are like open ai and chat gpt... void of any human like behaviour. It should be illegal for any company like this offering financial services to operate in a country without providing support in that country you have no idea how long it can take for them to get back to you it's like they think they are the government and not answerable to anyone... do a google search on stripe and see the amount of negative reviews and how many there are... you don't have thos many people complain without their being a good reason.
We have been the subject of 3 reserves in the last few months and are moving away from Stripe for our online credit card processing due to this. The first time around they held over 10k for the 45 day reserve period, the second time they held over 5k but with a caveat, they are releasing funds 45 days after each transaction is made. This last reserve ended on a Monday and they did not release funds but gladly put another reserve right back on top of the last one. The sad part is that they have never had an issue if we had to refund and they are losing over 50k a month to process due to their issues.
I am writing this review with a sense of urgency and a plea for the government to take immediate action. It is imperative that they hold Stripe accountable for their failure to protect companies from fraudulent activities. This review aims to shed light on the critical need for stricter regulations to prevent and combat fraud in the business landscape.
Stripe's alarming negligence and disregard for basic security measures have become glaringly evident. Their inability to identify and block obvious fraudulent transactions, such as accepting payments of 9999 EUR for non-existent products, is an indication of a systemic flaw in their processes. Despite receiving over 1 million card requests within a specific time period, Stripe failed to reject numerous fraudulent payments of only $1. Such lapses expose countless businesses to financial losses and reputational damage. In response, we have taken the necessary step of filing a report with the police in Denmark to address this fraudulent activity.
It is deeply troubling that the banks involved in the fraudulent SEPA payments have requested us to ask Stripe to contact them for fund recovery, but Stripe has refused to do so.
Furthermore, the lax response from Stripe regarding the recovery of funds from fraudulent SEPA payments is deeply troubling. By refusing to contact the banks involved and failing to take decisive action, Stripe is effectively leaving businesses vulnerable and unable to seek redress. This inaction is an affront to the trust placed in them as a payment service provider.
It is incumbent upon the government to intervene and ensure that companies like Stripe are held to higher standards in protecting businesses. Strengthening regulations and oversight mechanisms will create a safer environment, safeguarding the interests of companies and fostering economic growth.
I urge the government to conduct a thorough review of Stripe's operations, assessing their compliance with existing regulations and implementing stricter measures where necessary. Additionally, it is crucial to collaborate with industry experts and financial institutions to develop robust fraud prevention strategies and frameworks.
In conclusion, I implore the government to take immediate action to address the systemic issues surrounding Stripe's negligence in preventing fraud. By implementing comprehensive measures, increasing oversight, and promoting accountability, we can create an environment where companies can thrive without falling victim to preventable fraudulent activities.
I have been waiting for weeks for my money. I need to pay my employees and all I can tell them is stripe is holding it. They wait until the day before. It says it's estimated to arrive into my bank account and then give me a new estimated date they've done this for over four weeks. Now I have spoken with another company called prime, who is much much larger and they told me stripe health thousands of dollars from them for six months. They said they make money the longer they hold on to money if they consider my business a high-risk business and is a property maintenance company. This is hands-down the worst company I have ever ever been a part of they don't reply to emails or anything they don't care please please please do not use Stripe use. Auth.net they get your money into your account almost instantly and they work with high risk businesses please please boycott stripe. They are a bunch of robbers and thieves.
Be very careful of this Rob dog payment platform. They add on charge backs to steal more money from you on top of their high fees. Dont use them under any circumstances. Plenty of other better payment platforms out there.
Our account with Stripe was closed on 4th May. At which point we had $28,362 in our Stripe account. Money which we had received from our customers and were waiting on Stripe to payout to our bank account.
To this day (26th June) they are still holding all of this money.
Stripe customer support send very generic emails with little specific information. They keep repeating that our account is under review (it's already closed so what is there to review?) and they will update me when the review is complete.
They refuse to say when the review will be complete and they also refuse to rule out keeping the money.
This "review" has so far taken 7 weeks, I have no idea how long it will take (months, years?).
We desperately need the money to finance our day to day operations and it's causing an unbelievable amount of stress. Despite this they refuse to send us our money.
I strongly recommend people to avoid using Stripe. Because they are so large you feel totally helpless when something goes wrong and there is nothing you can do. You are at the mercy of them. There is no escalating your problem. You just get bounced off random people in a call centre somewhere.
So we have started a business and we use strip for our payment method and if our customers spend 100 or more our accounts get put on freeze guys don't use the they are rubbish
I tried for over 2 weeks to set up an account with no success! Horrible service! I have a long history of credit card sales as an Electrical Contractor and they fixiated on my not having a website based processing site. My
Please please please do not ever use stripe. They do not have an actual number to contact customer service. You can email but they never respond with a real response. They will close your account and steal your money for no good reason. I think this company is a scam. If they can't release my money and my customer hasn't received a refund then who has the money? Stripe does because they steal. DO NOT USE STRIPE! There are better pay services out there with an actual customer service number.
So many hoops. Codes texted, QR codes scanned, pictures of bicycles, crosswalks, stop lights confirmed over and over again to make sure I'm not a robot...you name the hoop and I jumped through it over and over again. Big FAIL for customer service as a phone call is all that was needed. Would have save them and me so much time. One of the emails was to ask me in the form of a question to verify that I have access to the email account I'm emailing them from - really I'm emailing you from the email address? All I wanted to do was change the email address and password on the account. That's it. 20 second phone call with "hey, you can log in and click here and input your info and save" would have pointed me in the right direction immediately. But they will not call you even if you ask 4 times. If I didn't have to use them, I wouldn't. If I could give zero stars, I would. Please know that people can speak still, it's not just all online through email and chat.
If I could give a zero star rating, I would. I bought a multi-piece product from a business through Stripe. I received one part of the product, however now I have not received the remaining product, and the business is not responding to my messages asking them what is going on. I have been ignored and pushed off by the business for two months, so I want a refund. I told the business this, and have turned to Stripe to help me because the business has continued to ignore me. Stripe responded that they cannot do anything to help me. They cannot start the refund process or give a warning to the business, and they told me that I should go to my bank to file a dispute. I am so upset! PayPal would have been working on this problem with me. I will never use stripe as a customer of a business, or with my own future business, because of this.
BS company DONT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS
They are a crap company. Take yr business elsewhere!
I just started using them ( i have been in business for more than 5 years and i use another payment processor)
So i signed up and I had a customer who made payment for a product. Soon after they just closed my account saying its a high risk or some BS, and just refunded my customer without any reason.
This company is total BS. If u google them closing people's accounts for no reason you will see what I mean. DO NOT use them in any circumstances.
Their customer service is a joke.
All you wanna be startups, learn from our case. Stripe may appear as easy to start with, but they will drown you when you are in the waters. The long and thorough underwriting that you have to go through with the established payment processors is far more worth than jumping onto this nonsense company. One fine day, Stripe woke up feeling like a robinhood to take from our small business and give back to the customers. Our customers never complained, but somehow Stripe felt that we are such a risk that they not only blocked us, but returned our money back to the customers for whom service had already been performed!
On top of that, they are not releasing the money that was left after the refunds.
While you may tend to think that there could be genuine reasons, think like would you rather go through the pain of prolonged underwriting and then start business or would you start the business with stripe only to find that you are blocked and can't do any business anymore?
I have been using Stripe for 2 years, and recently one authorised payment was received online and they blocked me, blocked my business, did we know who was paying online, its strip responsibility to check on payments it someone paying unauthorized they have to block that card or user but not the entire business.
I used this company for our short term rental business though Lodgify a web based hosting company for short term property owners. After years of using Stripe I put in the request to lower our payout from 7 days to whatever was faster. Do you think these idiots would just look at my past and existing business and flip a switch.nope. They demanded I justify my business by telling them what I was going to do for them going forward? They wanted my personal banking statements? They wanted financial statements?...just idiotic. So the response...we are building our own site, plugging in our own credit card processing service direct, and they were fired and Lodgify their partner is being replaced by our own site. As well they would not escalate and their customer service is just crap...check their online reviews the last 1.5 years...horrifying. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Recently we have has several fraudulent order on our website that seemed suspicious. However, Stripe software failed to reject or flag the fraudulent orders. So, we held the orders and did not ship them because billing address, shipping address, and phone numbers did not match. A month later, stripe notifies us with an early fraud warning. With no warning, the banks already collected the transaction fees plus dispute fees.
Would only accept a very limited range of Verification ID. Don't know of any company this strict. Had to close down account.
You cannot get past Go with Stripe because if you need cash from YOUR EFFORTS with EMPOWER, they limit you to $50.00, even if you made $100 to $500, that day! STRIPES is actually CONTROLLING YOUR MAN HOURS and the HOLDING YOUR FUNDS. They could be playing stocks with money that is NOT theirs and then they charge you a fee. In other words if you are dire straights, worked hard with EMPOWER, this payment place will discourage you from getting the money YOU PUT THERE. They are NOT A BANK and for people struggling (lets face it, Ride Sharing don't have Rich drivers), they can hurt you with these very low limiits on Transfers to Your bank!
This company is unacceptable how they are doing Business. I have been waiting over 6 weeks to have my payout or money refunded to customer and they have not yet refunded. When trying to reach the company they respond with the same answer, Due to the current status of your account, we won't be able to pay out the remaining balance on your Stripe account at this time—these funds will be held in reserve to fund any necessary refunds or future disputes. But why, I have never had any issues with this stripe account and recieved one payment for almost $300 for an order and they did not release the funds. I have to end up paying the customer for items I couldn't order because Stripe is holding the money for no apparent reason. I was referred to this place by a Mall business owner, but If I had read all the horrible reviews I would have never opened up an account. I even went back to the Mall to let the store know how they conduct business and let them read the reviews and now they are considering closing their accounts as well. This is ridiculous but I did contact the BBB and they told me about other disputes and said to file a complaint. It's horrible that I have to result to this but due to the circumstances it needs to be done. People need to know not to trust them if they have a great business and are doing well with other platforms receiving their revenue. Don't open up an account with the place.
Answer: Hi Jon, I'm sorry that you're having trouble with disputes -- they can be frustrating! Unfortunately, when your customer initiates a dispute with their bank, it's the bank that begins an investigation and makes the determination on who gets to keep the funds -- and often times, they do favor the customer. This process is facilitated by credit card networks, but Stripe helps with this process by submitting evidence that you provide, such as tracking numbers. Although we can't make disputes go away, we do try our best to make them a bit easier to manage. As a bit of background on how the dispute process works, the minute that we learn about a dispute from your cardholder's bank, the funds and an additional fee are taken out of our account. In the event that you're able to win a dispute, we return the full amount of the charge and the fee to you, though the fee that we are assessed is not returned to us by the bank. We return that fee because we feel strongly that businesses shouldn't be penalized for disputes that are resolved in their favor. Because it is expensive for us to return those fees in instances were the dispute is resolved in the business's favor, we aren't able to return the fees at other times. In addition, since disputes are a forced refund by the cardholder’s bank and not a voluntary one on your part, you remain responsible for the processing fees for the initial transaction. It can be tricky for even experienced businesses to understand how to handle a dispute, so we've spent time documenting the various circumstances under which a payment can be disputed, and how best to handle each -- I'd recommend taking a look at https://stripe.com/help/disputes to learn more. Please also take a look at https://stripe.com/help/disputes#how-can-i-prevent-disputes to learn more about preventing disputes. I hope this helps shed some light on our approach here. Again, I'm sorry that dealing with disputes are frustrating. Stripe actively dedicates resources to making this problem better and, over time, go away entirely. We can certainly look into your account and these specific disputes, if you'd like, if you send us a message at https://support.stripe.com/email.
Answer: These are the most significant crooks in the industry but they will get what they deserve I joined a group how will exposed there behavior. It is impossible that they can keep on operating and not get arrested
