Startwire is a scam plain and simple, don't let it waste your time. I saw job placed on linked that I wanted to apply to so I worked on writing a cover letter and putting all my information together. Only to find out after hitting the apply button that it just redirected me to an entirely different page where it tried to make me sign up for things and offered me random other jobs that had nothing to do with what I was looking for. I refreshed the page thinking that something had gone wrong, but no, the job I tried to apply for doesn't exist. It was a trick and literally wasted hours of my time. This website should be shut down.
Never in my life have I been hit so hard by spam. No matter how many times I click unsubscribe, it keeps coming back - like that monster that grows 3 more heads every time you cut one off. I just want my inbox back. Please!
I send their daily barrage of watered-down emails start to the spam bin. I'm so sorry I signed up with this service; I felt I had to in order to apply to a job. They mislead in the emails by thinking you received an email from an actual person and the titles also are misleading where they sound like you might have someone interested in your resume... but in the end it is pure canned garbage.
Spam, spam, and more spam. Also, I received a call from someone named Robert who was obviously reading from a script and listened to absolutely NOTHING I said. I literally repeated the same information 5 times in three minutes and it was like he never heard me. Seemed to be selling educational programs. Looked at the site and there was no Robert listed as a recruiter on their page. Their pop-up appeared when I was applying for a job on another site and I filled it out initially thinking I had to do so as part of the process. Total BS!
Stay away; it's an absolute scam. They don't provide any service, instead stuffing your inbox with nonsense. I got something like 25 emails from them in 48 hours from fake people with fake names.
They offered a resume-reviewing service which I stupidly decided to do. What they sent back was completely bogus and of course it was a ploy to get you to send them money to rewrite your resume. I didn't pay, of course; Lord only knows how that would have turned out.
Even after unsubscribing, my inbox has filled with unrelated spam in the meantime, and that's not likely a coincidence.
If I could give them a 0, I would. 84 emails in under 12 hours for jobs I already have listing agents for. I am having a very hard time getting control of my email back - HORRIBLE! Stay gar, far away!
This site is an abomination that practices abusive techniques to attract web traffic. Somebody got a hold of my contact information and created an account without MY CONSENT, and I started inexplicably receiving phone calls and emails on a daily basis. When I looked into it further, I learned that my fake account information was then ported over to CareerBuilder.com through some equally shoddy business 'partnership'. Stop spamming people and start verifying emails before you make information public to recruiters! This is an outrage, your pathetic excuse of a business should be shut down.
It cheated you to get your information and sent your information everywhere. It will eventually destroy your opportunities to get any job while they annoy potential hiring companies with 100 contact in your name. Linkedin should shut this down.
I have had several of these, you find a job that seems great and you get Startwire. You then get spammed.
I checked on the companys website and I cant find the job listed. So I am thinking it must be a scam.
As Glassdoor are allowing this to happen I wont use them again.
Feces can at least be used as fertilizer, so has some redeeming qualities.
This website? Not so much.
No human interaction. Nothing more than a poor front for advertising engines preying upon those looking for their next job. They've polluted my inbox so badly that it became impossible to find real listings.
I am not interested in franchises, over-priced underwhelming training, or any of the other poisonous trash they're trying to foist off on me.
I expected to have an actual human being to interact with and make real recommendations. What I have instead is a spam engine that won't stop sending trash even though I have unsubscribed.
I had to go though their site to apply for a job posting I found online, and it was SUCH a mistake. Their job categories didn't contain anything resembling the industry I am in (research/environmental), and all I've gotten out of it is an endless barrage of emails telling me to sign up for seminars or have my resume looked at. NOT what I was looking for, and a massive waste of time, because I have to unsubscribe from each type of email individually.
They place attractive job descriptions on legitimate sites like Glassdoor. When you click in such job it takes you to satartwire where they ask you for your info and resume promising to lead you to the application page. When you upload your resume and click to link to apply they INVARIABLY tell you that this job is no longer available. In other words they deliberately mislead people in order to get their personal info. Then you find your email being bombarded relentlessly with truck driver job emails. Pathetic scammers.
If you click on a job ad on Glassdoor or LinkedIn, and it takes you to StartWire under false pretenses that you are applying for a job, RUN! It is a scam, a fraud. Those people should be prosecuted, and their scam operation should be shut down.
As a marketer trying to get the most exposure for our clients, we found that StartWire was intercepting our job postings and getting job seekers to fill out their pop-up application before sending the job seeker to our clients' landing pages. This way they could continue reaching out to job seekers using our paid traffic to beef up their database. Not really even sure if it is legal...
If StartWire is the only method of applying for the job, you're better off without it. Seriously, it's not worth the job just to be bombarded with spam. I got roped in applying for a job since there was no option to apply directly on their site. I HIGHLY regret it. I've got 41 emails in 3 days. Even after "Unsubscribing" I still got bombarded with them. Very lengthy process to get it to stop, not what I need when I'm waiting for real emails from real people. Oh, and if you look up the address of StartWire, you'll find it's a park in NH. It's a scam people, beware and avoid at all costs.
I applied for a position with a professional organization, but for some reason, their application process went through StartWire. Since submitting my application I have been bombarded with spam emails, and they make the unsubscribing process very long and difficult. Certainly was not worth it.
I agree with previous reviewer. I made a mistake applying through startwire.
Constantly was receiving "spam" with the same content. When tried to get my profile closed message said to send email to *******@startwire... to have associate to close my profile, after sending the request got ridiculous answer with several choices such as:"if you whant unsibsribe, then why., if you want to delete account then why." It's scam.
They send so many useless emails. Save your time and your email and don't subscribe. The sell your email, and the spam never stops, it's a never ending flow.
Around 20 spam emails per day on totally useless information. I am a phd student in microelectronics and they are sending me positions like truck drivers
Like the other reviewers, I noted that there were a lot of emails, but they all can be unsubscribed to. But I like that I get all those jobs coming to me and not having to go search for them. If you don't like email, definitely use the unsubscribe button. But if you don't like having to search, then you can just open the emails.
