Rip off storage company
December 7, 2024

This is the absolute worse storage I've ever used. I could care less about it being indoors! I've been renting with them over 15 months now I was quoted $160 and now I'm paying $190! If your payment is not paid on the 1st they lock your $#*! and don't care if your and auto paying customer. There should be some type of grace period. Which don't exist.Customer service trash it's just a shoulder shrug with them. What's the point of communicating!?

The gate to give access to the storage unit isn't working. Property manager is MIA and help center will only enter a ticket. A ticket they might respond to in 24 hours. Do not rent here, the support is horrendous. Because I am unable to access my unit my entire weekend plans are ruined, as I need equipment from my unit.

Bad Company
April 17, 2024

I have kept my stuff in 2 storage units for 3 years at Storage Rentals of America and during that time they have no security or camera's and my unit was broke into by some drug addicts and I still am not sure what all they stole. I paid my bill automatically without being late for 3 years, I contact them to let them know I need to delay my pmt for 14 days because I had a big expense I had to pay and they said yes without saying anything else (this is the first time I had not paid by auto pay and I called them and communicated my situation). Then I go to get into my storage and they put locks on both 6 days later. I called and they pretty much said it's in the contract...mind you this place has no lighting at night and the gate stays wide open...NO SECURITY! So then I pay just as I had promised on the 15th and 2 days later the lock is still on my 2 units. I call because I have to get my daughters furniture because she is moving, they kept me on the phone trying to reach the district manager because the local office is CLOSED on Wednesday! What office is closed on Wednesday!? After keeping me on hold for 30 minutes going back and forth, they said they would open it at 8 pm this evening. I said I need it opened when I get off work at 4:30 so my daughter can get her stuff, they said sorry, they cannot get there to take the locks off until 8 pm. Why didn't they take the locks off on Tuesday? They said 24 to 48 hours after payment, well today is 48 hours and they still have locks on my units. Even after they charged me 2 late payments on each unit and they raise their prices every year. My bill for 2 units went from $102 on one unit and $134 on another unit 3 years ago and now I am paying $136 on one and $195 on the other. It is highway robbery so this company does NOT care about customer service or helping those who have used them for many years, its all about the money and they do not improve their units with camera's or lights, they just do not care so BEWARE!

They knowingly allow workers to steal from renters. I know this because after my belongings came up missing I filed a police report. They could not do anything because the lock was in tact, as well as door. All that was missing was all of our summer fishing equipment. Rods and reels, tackle boxes etc. Those things did not walk out by themselves. I called and pleaded with the property managers(2 different people) and on both occasions each of them said that sometimes items from the units end up in one of the units that are without locks, and that they'd look for whatever is left, and I could not turn the theft over to my insurance because there's no proof of a robbery. And the SROA wouldn't take responsibility because I didn't pay their extra insurance to cover the theft. So I believe that they look the other way when their people steal from uninsured renters. It's my belief and opinion based on my experience with them. Now they won't stop charging me rent, because I couldn't get my sofa out of there, I don't have a truck. I told them in March that I wouldn't be renting there anymore and was told I'd have time to go get the sofa when I got a truck, but now the district manager, Kayla Wickham says that I'll be charged and if I don't pay, it'll go to collections. Of course I'll get it out of there one way or another. Just writing my review.
You're better off selling whatever you have that has value than rent there. Good chance you won't see it again, and you'll still be charged rent for it.

This storage unit has changed hands three times in the last eight years. SROA mandatorily make you have insurance, which they should have insurance on the property not worried about what I do on my personal items. SROA increased my rent THREE times and in eight months. I won't be in my unit a year until July. This is outrageous! It's price gouging. Reputable storage places make you sign a contract and increase the rent yearly, not three times in 8 months!. They are money hungry, price gouging SROA! Go anywhere else but here! There's not even someone on site in the office anymore. Good luck if you have an issue when you're at your unit.

As I am a very picky person and easy to please, I am over the top with the way Kailyn helped me with an easy, at the last minute, move in. She even reached out to someone on the phone to see what they could do to make things better for me. I was/am VERY impressed with Kailyn and the procedure she helped me with in renting my storage. THANK YOU!

Price gauges
November 2, 2023

I rented my unit 5 yrs ago at 140 a month. Every 3 months they raise the rates 5 -15 a month. I am now paying 268 month. This does include the tax and insurance but that is almost double. I looked on their website and my unit is still 140 a month. But not only that, a similar unit in the same area is only 88 a month. So I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Horrible place to rent from
August 28, 2023

I have been a customer of SROA, Russellville Road, Bowling Green, KY, since 2018 - in that time I have experienced continuous price increases and multiple break ins where property has been stolen. I've had my locks cut off without being notify after break ins. It's almost impossible to get in contact with the actual property manager whenever problems do happen. I'm now being told, after moving out, that I will be charged a $250 cleaning fee that will go straight into collections because I left items by the dumpster that is located on the property. I have used this dumpster in the past to throw out items from a previous unit I had and am being told it states in my lease that tenants aren't allowed to use the dumpster but when I called asking for a copy of my lease, they can't provide me with a copy of my lease and I have no way to access it online. Dealing with this business has been one of the worst experiences of my life and I highly recommend going ANYWHERE but Storage Rentals Of America if you're needing a unit. They look like such a good deal with their low pricing advertised online but they WILL increase your pricing every couple of months with or without notification. They have a HIGH level of theft/break ins. They do not keep security on property. They do not have a property manager readily available. I have never left a bad review for any business because I understand some things are out of control for business owners sometimes but after everything I have dealt with since renting from this company, I had to leave a review in the hopes that I can keep the things I've gone through from happening to another customer and in the future, I will be more cautious about choosing a place to do business just based off of their advertised pricing.

Agreed on a negotiated price at move in and they bumped it +32% on month 4. Called to discuss and told manager would call back. I waited a week and received no follow up. Today I was told to move out or pay the new rate so moving out and will never do business with SROA again.

Unit rate increase
July 6, 2023

Winchester, KY SRA was impolite, unprofessional and unwilling to make adjustments in billing. My unit price increased without notice $15 per month. As I rented my unit in April 2022 I was quoted $68 monthly and now being billed $82 (not including late fee). I'm a widow on a very tight budget and had planned to pay $68 through the end of the year. I've tried talking to corporate but nobody has bothered to return my calls. This is very shady to me. Ad I looked around the facility I seen that many tenants had red locks. And the people at one of the facilities had been leaving gates unlocked and units that were late were being robbed. Some kind of intervention needs to take place, as the people are doing horrible business.

Go somewhere else
June 8, 2023

I have had a unit since November. I have NEVER been late on my payments! I go Sunday to get some items out of the unit and find my lock is cut off and combination lock with one of their stickers is on the unit. It does look like a new locking mechanism was put on the door. I received no notice that this was happening! I would have been there to take my lock off! Shouldn't this be something they do to unoccupied units though? Since then I've called several times to find out what is going on. They keep sending me to different people, writing reports, and sending my complaint to the "escalation team". None of them have called me back! No one knows why my lock was even cut off! There's no notes or orders in my account saying why this would have been done! To top that off, this last time I called I was asked if I was sure I had the right company because they don't have a location where I say they do. I was looking at my online account as we were speaking and could very clearly see that the unit I have is in fact one of theirs and is in fact the location I said it was, complete with the address! So yes lady I do know what im talking about, but obviously you don't! I just want my stuff!

SROA in Piqua Ohio
January 29, 2023

Good and friendly management, I have been a customer for several years and once I didn't have my storage garage door properly closed and I was contacted immediately by the manager Brenda in Piqua Ohio so that the gap in the door didn't cause any weather damage to my things and no small rodents got in!

Figure out something else
November 13, 2022

I have stored items in a garage size unit since February and stop in about once a month to just check on things. In October I stopped to check and found that the lock had been changed on my unit. I was so confused because I am on top of paying them and couldn't foresee any other reason this would happen. I called and was told painting was going on and maybe the painters needed to cut the lock. What? They had no idea why there would be a different lock on the unit.
So, I took it upon myself to cut the unknown lock. I found my items have been rifled through and my unit was a mess. At that moment, I loaded up all my stuff and left, as I did NOT feel good about leaving my belongings there.

A similar situation happened at another unit across town, except they had thousands of dollars of stuff come up missing. I haven't completely inventoried my stuff yet, but I did find my original lock that someone had broken off and left inside one of my boxes.

There is no security at this location. No cameras up in between units. No need for even a passcode to get in cause most of the time the gate is just left wide open.

Take your business elsewhere. $160 a month to have my items unsecured.

Switched from a larger to smaller storage shed at the clearwater mn location back in September, since then they have continued to try and charge us for both storage sheds, Every time we call the call center they say they will fix it and we will hear from the site manage. Almost 2 months and after 6 calls we still have not heard from site manage. Then we get a letter saying they will be auctioning off our unit for non payment because they are still trying to charge for the 2 units. The one we do occupy and have a current lease for is paid. Called again thry say the old unit isn't even showing occupied by us but they will have the site manager email us. Call agents are very nice, site manager doesn't follow through and has never made contact. Very disappointed with the poor management
