After confirming our flights I was presented with a series of "buy-up" options and I thought I said no to all those that came with a charge. Then, after paying, I realized we'd been charged $39.90 for seat selection. If I'd understood there was to be a charge I'd have bypassed this option and we'd have been fine with whatever seats we were assigned for this 1-hour flight. I'd ask for a refund of the charge but the receipt indicates absolutely no changes allowed and no refunds. I feel taken advantage of and overcharged for something I didn't need.

I had bad experience at smartfares yesterday when I booked an international flight ticket. I got my ticket with a decent price. But unfortunately since it was a larger purchase, my credit card transaction got declined. And when I called them to retry the transaction after checking with my bank, they retried the transaction and it went through. But surprisingly, smart price told me that I have to change the date since the tickets for that initial dates are no longer available and was asked to pay more than $500 for the new tickets.They did not inform me before they retry the transaction. After it was charged to my credit card, then only they told about this date issue. Then I asked to cancel the tickets, then they said I will not get full refund; they will deduct more than $400 if I cancel the ticket. I noticed that they mentioned "no risk free cancellation within 24?hours". When I questioned about this, they mentioned it is not applicable for international travel. (But this is not mentioned in their site). I was really upset and was not all happy with their service. While I was talking, I did a search again and I could see that still ticket available for the initial dates. So I asked them again on this and they agreed to give me that initial date ticket s, but with additional $539. Since I cannot cancel the ticket with full refund, I decided to purchase the ticket with additional $539. All this happened in one or two hours. I was really disappointed with their service and will not try this smart fare anymore again.There are several other sites that provide full refund if it is cancelled within 24 hours. I wont recommend due to bad customer experience.

Answer: Yes. They stated because of flight increase they canceled my flights. Then they wanted me to pay a balance of what the new increase was. So disappointing. I paid for four fares. They took the funds from the bank n then canceled my flights.
