I had forgotten to change my passport since I was married 3 years ago. We realized a week ago, after we had spent $8000 on travel arrangements that we may not be able to make the trip because we booked under my former name. We were so stressed. My passport is my only valid ID as I do not have a driver's license (I live in NYC). I was very anxious about the whole process--that there would be some mixup at the State Dep't and I would find myself not only unable to travel but without valid identification. So I decided to get this service b/c I thought it would be the best way to ensure that everything went smoothly, because they are in the business of getting passports for people and because, unlike a bureaucrat, they have incentive and motivation to keep me, as a paying customer, happy.

It was 100% worth it. I had to call them four or five times with various questions and never was on hold more than a minute or two; a case manager said she would email me some info about how to put my itinerary together and it came through just when she said it would, clearly personalized and not a form; and the whole thing went without a hitch.

Also, now I have both the passport and the passport ID card, which for some reason I did not know existed until I filled out this application--maybe it did not exist ten years ago. In any case, no more worrying about having only one form of ID. The State Dep't website says over and over that the card will arrive 4 to 5 weeks after the passport, by regular mail. But my card was in the FedEx envelope with my renewed passport.
