The very heavy well crafted and really beautiful chess board fits perfectly to my Leuchard's Cook chess figures which I bought a couple of years ago. Any normal tournament board would simply not have been worthy to such an impressive chess figure set. The Leuchard's chess figures are the most impressive and beautiful classic Staunton chess figures that exist, in my opinion and required a chess board of 60mm square size minimum but one that would be as luxurious and beautiful as the chess figures but without too much sophisticated embellishments either. In order to be complaint with tournament conditions or players who still need notations I ordered the version with notations. Wonderful craftswork! The overall chess set is now so beautiful and so bombastic at the same time, but also proper for tournaments (this was important for me) that it gives you an extra joy whilst playing but also an extra portion of respect to play an official game with this now absolutely stunning and perfectly matching chess set. For me the absolute 10/10 in the scope of a luxury Staunton-tournament-valid chess set.

I am familiar with the original Henri Chavet chess sets from seeing them in use at the 1979 Montreal Tournament of the Stars, which I personally attended, and in the 1995 World Chess Championship (Anand and Kasparov). I own a smaller original Chavet set with 3.5 inch kings. This Royal Chess Mall reproduction uses better quality wood than my genuine Chavet set and the workmanship is actually higher quality than my original Chavet set. It arrived at my Canadian address in only about one week after ordering. The conformity to the original design seems to be very high. The only slight comments are that the heads of the pawns are a little too fat, and the bases of the kings are slightly smaller than those of the Queen's. They should be exactly the same size. They should also be flatter in profile. But these are very small differences. The dark pieces are very nicely finished in a mat dark oxblood red-brown very close to the original, and actually nicer than the original in my opinion. The condistency of the wood turning and carving is very high, demonstrating excellent workmanship. The pieces are perfectly weighted - just enough but not too heavy, as a lot of modern sets are. I like this. So...this set is an excellent buy if you like the Chavet style pieces. Congratulation to the artisans who produced this set.

This is my second purchase and wont be my last. The chessmen are amazing and look great on my analysis board. The hand carved pieces add such a beautiful accent that turns heads at the coffee shop. Thanks Royal Chess Mall for such excellently carved pieces.

The wooden chess pieces are more then what I expected. Great quality and I love the size, shape and style of them. Arrived quickly and packaged well.
The only thing I would like differently is if the felt bottom was a nicer quality. I may end up changing that myself.
But overall very happy.

I really like the improved French lardy made by RCM. Have bought the Chavet, Durbvnik and their Prestige chess set but this one is my favourite.
They got the proportions bang on. A very accurate reproduction indeed.
The walnut staining looks stunning. Highly pleased with the outcome.

It is a remarkably beautiful chess set. It looks splendid and feels smooth to the touch, finely polished. The craftsmanship is elegant, being handmade, and the minor imperfections add to its uniqueness.
I requested specific requirements from the sellers for packaging and shipping, as it was an international delivery, and I wanted to ensure its condition. They complied with my request, and I would definitely purchase another set.

The Harrwitz Staunton 3.5" chess pieces are fantastically crafted and play beautifully on my 2.375" square board. The delivery was very fast and the service from RoyalChessMall is outstanding.

The soviet chess set delivered to me in due time. Very well constructed and makes a great gift for my chess loving brother.

Extremely delighted with my imperfect chess pieces. Bought myself their northern upright set of chessmen and cannot find a single fault in it. Maybe they accidentally sent me a perfect chess set or whatever is their standard of checking. In any case, couldn't be happier. Super Set and Super Happy. Delivered pretty fast.

Excellent price to craftsmanship ratio. The padauk wood is beautiful. Very minor flaws but expected when hand made. Accurate when described as triple weighted, they feel great to move around the board. I've read certain cuts of padauk can develop white oil "dust" over time but so far my pieces are as they were on arrival. I might pick up a nice little analysis board from here for my desk too!

I received the Hungarian style chess pieces fairly quickly, i.e., less than two weeks after I ordered them.
The chess pieces were just as they appeared on the website and exactly what I expected and wanted. This style of pieces is a little out of the ordinary. This makes them distinctive enough to be interesting without departing from the traditional Staunton pattern.
I think the chess pieces are very attractive and I love playing with them. I have received several compliments on the pieces. I especially like the knights!
I am happy with the service and the product.

Reading this will save you time and money otherwise like myself, you will be left with sub standard quality pieces along with some of the worst customer service you will experience as it is virtually non-existent. Please see the photos for the inadequate quality of some of the pieces, the storage box which is not the right size to hold the pieces it is supposed to.

I also received no response after an initial email requesting for pieces to be exchanged and to resolve the storage box issue. It was only until I sent a 2nd email 4 days later to say I've had no reply and I will submit negative reviews that I then received a very short email apologising for delay in response and they will look into it. 9 days later there is still ZERO response or follow up. I have been patient but now is the time to warn others as to not have to go through this appalling company that you'd expect would provide a good service for the premium prices they charge.

So if you want to receive faulty chess pieces that are inconsistent which means some badly finished pieces thrown in, a storage box that doesn't hold pieces after lifting the box upright, bad to non-existent customer care or replies, then good luck with this company. There are many other better options out there or pay less for this standard of quality.
