Never ever use this site. Rover doesn't give a crap about the pet owner or the pet. I went to California for a few days and I got a rover pet sitter. First off I am pretty sure the sitters don't even watch the dogs they are baby sitting. My dog was attacked by another dog they were watching. Stupid rover tried making me pay for the surgery and still wanted me to pay the rover sitter. This a terrible website and they don't care one bit. Don't use or you will strongly regret it
My dog gets really excited to go see Kerry and her dog and play tug-of-war in the yard or roam around the house! It is his home away from home. I, for my part, appreciate the care and effort that Kerry puts into managing our dog while I am at work. It's a win-win situation. And the pics are nice, too.
Their calendar says their available but when you try to book they say they are not available. Also they are people just looking to make a buck. The take your pet and crate them all day. Some already have multiple animals of their own in an apartment and take still take on multi customers at the same time.
I have booked many times with Rover, mostly with the same sitter, and always had a good experience. I came here to see negative reviews after my dog got hurt with a new sitter, worried about what would happen. Rover was helpful and quick throughout the process and lived up to their promise to pay for vet bills. I will continue to use.
I booked using the app to have a sitter feed my cat once a day while I was out of town. This was a very simple request with only needing a drop in visit for a total of 3 days, once a day. Sitter asked if she could change times that I had originally set up and I said yes times are flexible. That was over a week and a half ago, my credit card was charged. I then got nervous as I had no idea how to get a key to the sitter. I sent her several messages all of which went in answered. I then called but the call would not go through. I sent another text and said I was going to cancel if I do not hear from her in an hour, of course no response. I did end up cancelling and was issued a refund but my bigger concern is that they would have a sitter who is so irresponsible working for them.
I tried this service two times. Both times were horrific. Actually unbelievable, I'm lucky my dog survived both females care. I found a service that is unbelievable, they are so good and this was night and day difference. If you love your fur baby, do not use this company.
This company is terrible. The dog walker I found only communicated through their site which inundated me with start, finish, and a picture each day without alerting me to any problems. I had no idea that she was having problems getting my dog out until she cancelled last minute leaving me without alternatives. My dog has a UTI and needs to urinate during the day and the dog walker never contacted me directly to let me know even though she had my direct number. They also charge a fee for using the site each week. My dog had two dog walkers in NYC who were amazing. They would never have not let me know of a problem. The site is impersonal and the walker that I used was uncaring. I would give it zero stars if that was an option.
Sitter did not show up last day so we had to make arrangements long distance for three dogs to be taken care of. Sitter was late to every appointment each day they did watch our dogs. Once we got back it took two days of trying to contact the sitter to get our keys back finally they got back to us just to tell us they lost our house keys. Rover could have cared less not even an apology for the issue. All they said was lock smith is not covered by our guarauntee. Had not even asked for anything in return was just voicing our concerns. Very disappointed and will not use or recommend.
I had a duplicate account because my original wasn't working with the phone number i had given them.
They took $1000 for a booking I made and then cancelled it WITHOUT notifying me. It just disappeared from my account.
They said the emailed me notifying me about this - I never received an email.
I called twice - customer service was rude both times.
Do not trust your pets with this horrible service.
Anyone who would leave their pet with a total stranger without meeting them, seeing the place they will be hosting from, and checking for multiple reviews as well as repeat clients is taking a terrible risk. A sitter who would take a dog without meeting the dog and owners can't be trusted because they clearly don't care about the dog or if it will fit into their lifestyle or with the other pets they might be caring for. So, Rover is only as good as your search and interview skills.
Did you know in certain states it is required by law that anyone caring for animals in their home must submit to inspection and wait for approval by Dept Of Agriculture to be properly licensed in order to operate that is daycare dog sitting cat sitting etc
Speaking from experience the test you have to pass on Rover in order to become a sitter you are allowed to take as many times as possible until you pass that does not make one fit to be easy consider caring for other people's loved ones. Watching videos going back and answering questions is not proof one is responsible enough. If you don't believe me try it for yourself who's to say one does not have the video running on their iPad looking at the questions being asked on their phone and just scrolling through to get the answers Or failing and going back and trying again and again until they pass that is what makes you a sitter on rover
We were using a boarding service and our cats just didn't do well, so we were looking for a in house sitter. Found Rover on the web and read review of a sitter in our area that looked good. Unfortunately after contracting her she never showed up for the meet and greet. We found another person and she seem like the right person. We had concerns when she brought another person with her (she never mentioned it). She showed up on time did not always stay the minimum time, per our ring system. When we came home our house smelled like a kennel. She took the litter box and dumped it in the kitchen garbage and only took it our after a week. Never washed their bowls or the spoon to dip up their food. There was more but you get the jest. We will not be using Rover again
I left for our camping trip a day earlier than my wife. My wife dropped our dog off at the sitters home, everything was fine. My wife was 1.5 hours into her drive to start our camping trip. She got a call from the sitter who said our dog had bit her. She said he had to come get him. So my wife turned around drove back her home where she explained that she was giving treats to the dogs and that our dog bit her while going for the treat. I was promised a refund which I never received. I'm not placing blame, just remember your vacation is one call from being ruined.
Please be aware Rover has no standard protocol to handle emergency situations such as if your house sitter just leaves the key in your mailbox and leaves your dogs in a crate with no access to food or water. I urge anyone who reads this not to feel any sense of assurance that your dogs will be cared for because you booked it through a "trustworthy site" like Rover. Look it up online. Multiple dogs have died, been injured and lawsuits are in place for this company. I would recommend you ask your vet for recommendations or neighbors or friends before ever booking with Rover. My dog, Jäger, needed medication and was left without it. I'm grateful both dogs are still alive, but what a horrible experience.
After having a negative experience with Rover, because they didn't inform me of a possible danger and after I realize they don't screen the clients, require up to date shots, proof of current shots, don't advise sitters on zoning laws and liabilities, etc, etc. etc. Even when there is proof that people are lying, there are pictures of wounds on the dogs, they don't contact any authorities or lift a finger to provide any kind of assistance for abused dogs, defaming liars who leave false reviews, nor do they fire bad sitters or do any sort of really training or testing to see what the sitter knows about the business. If you would like to be involved in class action law suit against them, please contact me at *******@yahoo.com and let's share information and get these clown, who are making millions, shut down and held responsible.
There is a reason Rover.com has just over a one star rating! I recently booked a stay for my pet for a week. When I booked, the website popped up one page and immediately another covering the first. I thought I was booking with the one on top. Evidently, both went through. I did not discover that two had been booked until I was charged for both. They only refunded a portion the duplicate booking. There is no excuse for their computer program not to flag a booking for the same dog on the same days, with two sitters. This mix-up was the fault of the Rover booking system, and customer service took no responsibility. I'm now working with my credit card company, but I may be out almost $200 if that doesn't work due to their booking system. Do not use this service!
Sitters cancelled on me twice, one 8 hours before i was supposed to fly both with lame excuses. The difference in price between those two sitter because of the last minute cancellations was $150 but rover offered $20 to compensate. Thats why they get one star. They need to take more responsibility for the people they allow to advertise on their as its me who has been completely out of pocket. They also return your money within 10 days so I ended up paying out close to $600 and hadn't received the service then had to wait close to 10 days. Not really fair that they dont return the money immediately, the whole service shows they just dont care.
My fiancé and I turned to them to sit with our 12 year old dog. We met the person that said she could do it and with no time left to find someone else she cancels. Leaving is having to cancel our first outing since the pandemic. Not only did we lose money on the event but it is a pain to get refunded. You would be better off trusting your vet to take care of your fur babies so don't trust these crooks.
I used rover.com to find a petsitter to care for my beloved senior purebred ragdoll indoor cat. The petsitter lost my pet by leaving a door/window open within three days of me dropping him off. My cat has not been seen since I have a broken heart and have searched high and low put up posters gone to shelters vets door to door. Do not use Rover they dont verify enough that the sitters on their site are trustworthy and competent. This sitter was not able to even keep my baby inside her house.
I booked with Janessa then she slaps on extra fees and insurance which is not mentioned anywhere in the ad, Just 35,00 per hour it went from 280 to 430. Was not impressed then she tells me I am not a fit for her services...REALLY! Would not call her again be cautious when booking deceptive add ons.
