I bought and successfully used the Renogy Phoenix 500 last summer for about 2 months. I carefully stored it in my home over winter, monitoring the charge carefully as needed. It did not get cold. It did not get hot. I brought it out for my cross country trip this summer and though it says it's fully charged, no output. Nothing. It just turns off. I contacted Renogy via their customer service platform, sent in the required video explaining my situation and was told 'out of warranty but we might be able to give you a 5% discount on a new one.' We're talking 14 months here, mostly in storage. Sure, I definitely want to buy another flashy 15 lb paperweight. Renogy does not stand by their product. Their customer service platform makes it clear their intent is to keep you at arms distance by requiring videos and no human contact. And a 5% discount is insulting, even to would be happy return customers. Do not buy Renogy. There are much better options.

Dear Renogy- This is the case number - **************

Junk

PIECE OF CRAP COMPANY. DON'T USE THEM!

In November 2023 I spent 288.00 on a Renogy battery which fixed my issue with my leveling system temporarily.
In January I started working on it again to no avail and it didn't work.
Last week started working on it again. I replaced the Solenoid switch. Didn't fix it.
My battery voltage meter said it was fine. Everyone said I needed to take it to be checked.
Finally did that yesterday. It was crap. Bought another battery locally. Course these crooks say I bought it from Amazon so tough even though it's from Renogy store on Amazon. Everyone knows Amazon has only 30 days and then you have to deal with the company it came from.
I'm certainly NOT going for a replacement on a piece of crap that I already had to replace locally.

Untrustworthy
March 5, 2023

So I currently own a small 200watt solar set up and just yesterday corresponded w/a guy going bye Alexander on Renogy's ebay page who told me I could NOT run 2 separate arrays on a single battery bank both using their own charge controller. Well, Alexander is very wrong because I have done it before successfully and then another person at Renogy going bye Ian said I was in fact correct. Also, $105 per 100w panel on eBay and $85 on their site so pay attention folks. In the end Alexander was simply trying to up sell me to a control module 4x the price which failed. In the end I did send them links to videos etc. of folks who have used dual arrays on a single battery bank w/success. Products are good generally speaking, but wanted folks to be aware of their shady tactics imo.

Fraudulent company!
November 23, 2023

Renogy is a fraudulent company! Sold a ton of items at a discount and then lied about "manpower" issues. They cancelled hundreds of hundreds of customer orders! Renogy is selling items to gain customer information and then cancels your orders! Do not buy from! You won't receive your products and the customer service is even worse experience! Stay away from this horrible shady business!

Solar panels
September 9, 2020

I bought a 100w panel and Z-brackets for fixing to the roof. The quality of the products is good - however, the brackets were not included in the package and I had to send several emails to customer service for them to believe that they hadn't been sent out. Eventually they sent the brackets separately.

Sells trash
June 10, 2020

I bought the Renogy PG30A charge controller. It claims to output 20A of load but dies after less than 4A of load. Contacting the company they gave me a number to call which I did. That ended up being a time wasting jingle line where you get to listen to jingles until you eventually give up. I will never again buy another Renogy product. Mine went straight in the trash.

TERRIBLE AFTERSALES SERVICE. Over the years have bought many Renogy products I have been happy with. 1 issue over this time that required me having to contact customer service. A missing remote from my inverter and Renogys solution is essentially "too bad, so sad". They are unable to provide me with a remote switch as they do not sell them separately. Open a box and send me the remote you would have been the correct thing to do. Instead I am now faced with spending several hundred more $$ to purchase another brands inverter to replace this unused Renogy. What a waste of $250. I'm sorry Renogy but you will never see my money again.

Bait and switch
October 11, 2021

Geez what an awful company to deal with. I just never learn. I order something from a company I've never dealt with and then afterwards I read all of these complaints about customer service and their products. Why don't I do a google search first, I don't know. Anyway, I ordered a solar panel on sale. I ordered two but in separate orders. Instead of the solar panel, they sent me a flashlight, and the 2nd panel I bought seems to be lost in shipping, so far. Anyway, I contact the company and they say they can't send me a replacement because they are out of stock. Ok, mistakes happen but this is the first time I've ever ordered something online and got something else completely different but mistakes happen. However, the same exact panel that I bought is on amazon, sold by renogy, but 3 times the price.

And then they say, since the flashlight is similar in price, I should just keep that instead of returning. I'll wager dollars to donuts that if the other order shows up, it will be a flashlight too. And for my trouble, %5 discount on my next order.

But, it's my mistake. I should have researched the company and the item I bought because both have very poor reviews. Not the company's website of course but elsewhere I've found people complaining about similar things and complaints that the panel I bought is a pos.

I have had my Renogy rover elite 40 amp charge controller now for about 2 months.
Let's start with the good stuff
The quality of the charge control is good, nice heat sink and solid construction. Seems to handle the rated 40 amps!
Now for the bad.
1st off support sucks! Days between emails and have yet to speak to anyone alive over the phone.
2nd off, there is no user mode on the controller. So it will not kick out untill the battires are at 11.1 volts! This can't be changed. Even my 40.00 dollar cheap controller had that feature.
3rd the software sucks! The big reason I got this unit was data logging. So after pay 40.00 bucks for the bt2 adaptor I was all set. To bad the Renogy DC home app sucks. I have to be in the same room for it to connect toy iPad! Then when I got it connected the data does not look right. I have verified it by using a few different data logging meters.
In the end this is a company who does make pretty good charge control but they forgot all the details that would make it useful. I regret ever going this route, I will be upgrading soon to something a little better.
