I used to use Remitly quite often until they decided to change the sending options as express (lower Rate) & economy (slightly better rate) but only via bank transfer.
I think this is sad as I always use my debit card.
Plus they are no longer providing the best rates!
For a first time customer, Remitly offered the same rate for express sending as economy. Believing this, I did a money transfer overseas using the express option. However, while sending the money Remitly changed the sending speed to economy without any notification. Also they have a very small sending limit and totally useless rules that make it so inconvenient for people sending money for urgent and dire needs.
How blessed I am that my application failed to get through. They took my e-mail and password and asked me to register and create a profile. I did. Then they wanted to know the currency I was buying to send. Then I was asked to get started. When I clicked to get started, they asked for my e-mail and password. I supplied the information. I was asked to sign in. I tried, but they did not recognize the information I had supplied. So I they asked for my e-mail and password which I supplied. Again, they did not recognize even my e-mail. I was requested to put in my e-mail and password, I did, and the merry-go-round pursued. After turning round and round in circles for 2 hours and 52 minutes, I suspected that there must be something wrong here. So I decided to read the reviews on Remitly. What! Really! How blessed I am that I failed to join. This is the first time in my life that I really rejoice over a failure. Good ridance Remitly.

I called Remitly on Saturday to tell them someone stole my information. They said they would not allow anymore transactions with my bank account information. On Monday I wake up to see another transaction has occurred for another $1200.00. I have called and it is the same scripted BS. I am filing a class-action suit against them. They do not realize this is going to cost them so much more money. If anyone else is interested in doing this lawsuit reach out to me. *******@dataalliancegroup.com

I have sent $500 to my family. Remitly sent me email confirmation that money been deposited to bank account. But my recipient told me it wasn't deposited. I have contacted Remitly several time, every time they said within 3 days they will fix it. But it's been almost 2 months and didn't get my money back. After reading all this review it's seems like they are thieve. Take people money and runaway.

I had sent money overseas during the COVID pandemic for what turned out to be a scam. Remlity apparently suspended my account because I was the VICTIM of a scam. Blame the victim!
This is my first time using remitly, I thought i will give a try. I am so disappointed my family have to wait 5 days before the funds available in the bank to withdraw. I've been using other money remitance company it will just takes minutes boom the funds is already transfered to their bank account and ready for withdraw. You can not say its the bank end has an issue, because I am using same bank and same account#. This is a scam. Never using this company again, If i could put negative i would.

They claim I violated a policy and gave me a list of possible reasons, none of which was possible because I own the sending account and the receiving account. They told me to call them from the app. The calling was not available so I asked the chat person their phone number and he refused. I said I was supposed to answer questions over the phone and he said they didn't have any questions for me. I spent hours online and calling overseas and got nowhere. Meanwhile, my family sent me money through TransferWise that I got the next day.
Because money is tight I was looking for a cheaper company than western union. I compared using chat gpt and found that Remitly offered what appeared to be a better deal. I looked on their website and it said my friend could send us 7million UGX (around 2,000 usd). The money was taken out of my friends account but then the payment was rejected because in fact you can only send 5 million ugx. We tried calling customer service three times but they gave different responses and were very unprofessional. They canceled the transaction but said the money wouldn't be returned for 7 to 10 business days, putting us in a very bad situation. From the other reviews on this site it looks like the money might not be returned at all much less in 7 to 10 days. I'm surprised this company is based in the US. I think they would be more at home here in Uganda.
I have been sending money through Remitly now for several years to Nigeria. And I have never once had any trouble with it.

Don't bother using remitly. I don't know why they are in business. Their fraud system would stop an old grandpa from sending money to his kids. Go somewhere else. Remitly will probably go out of business or bought by another company for pennies

Remitely will allow you to open the account. Take the funds of the transfer and then cancel your account without explanation of how to retrieve the funds you just entered.
Total RIP-OFF. STAY AWAY! Money will be lost.
