There is nothing more noble than an organization dedicated to helping those in need. I merely wanted to inform everyone that if you do decide to donate to the Red Cross to make sure you use an e-mail address that you don't use often. I didn't realize making a contribution meant subscribing to almost daily e-mails. (8 e-mails within 7 days. Some days I got 2, some days I got none.) Really, Red Cross, really? Luckily, there is an unsubscribe button. Well, that's my experience with the website! Just thought I would share.
My fiance and I recently lost everything we owned including our beloved pets. We were told to contact red cross for help with housing and everyday essentials. My fiance called they took our info and said they'd call us back. We never heard back from them even after my fiance tried contacting them two more times both times was told they'd call back.

I was involved with an on-line chat for over an hour asking questions about becoming an instructor. I never did get the answers I was looking for even after having to restart the chat several times,

I donated blood for the first time in years. My only issue was their loud R&R music with such a loud base because I could not hear them over it. I noticed other donors asking them to repeat instructions, questions or their directions to follow. I get they want to play music but just not so loud. We cannot HEAR you. Plus I hate R&B. I just wanted to get out of there.
The Red Cross is illegally funding and supporting illegal immigrants, some terrorists entering the country. And hiding it from the public. Not willing to tell us why they're doing it and not willing to give interviews. Secretly working behind the scenes with the intent of destroying our constitution but spreading out mass immigration throughout our nation to put ALL Americans at risk of threat here at home. This company is tyrannical and I'm grateful I've never been one to support such scumbags.
Never give them your phone number. I in the past donated every 2 months. One time my hemoglobin was too low and I was denied. It was my last time donating to them. I received constant phone calls on my mobile and home phone about donating. I have asked so many times for them to take me off of their list because I am so tired of being harassed. I just got a blocked call from them but I still have to erase the message that they leave despite my pleas. I will start writing a negative review for every call I get a in different sites. Let's see how quickly they rack up. I will still donate when I hear of non Red Cross donation drives, but never again will I donate to them. You shouldn't either unless you like being harassed
I signed up for, studied and hands on certified for adult and child first aid, cpr and aed than after getting the thumbs up I met requirements by the instructor I left, it wasn't the best class, not terrible. Decent I guess for knowledge if you know nothing coming in. However they only gave me my adult certification despite signing up, for studying and testing in adult and child. Upon emails they are less than helpful and just will send you an automated response a 3rd of the time. I suggest and will be for myself finding a better organization but the bar isn't to high.

So RC has got a map out which shows illegals how to get here. The CEO makes 3 mil a year and I get either a t shirt or a coffee mug. Lol. Pay attention people.
Red Cross never dispatched day of or days after fire. Finally got in touch with them to be told by Terry there was nothing they could do…they claim not to turn anyone away! We lost everything but clothes we were wearing! Thanks for nothing Red Cross!
This was to Presbyterian Church in Newton NC 9/29. As usual my 5:45 appointment turned out to be 6:30. That didn't really bother me, I'm used to a long wait and once they called me up I went through pretty quick. David from Uganda and Darryl from Charlotte were awesome. They were warm caring, informative, knowledgeable so there was no problem. Darryl from Charlotte had to pull off and as soon as my bag filled up another worker was there to finish me up. I didn't catch her name but she was a tiny little girl with a squeaky voice, she was awesome too, Good service out of the three. So my biggest problem is that once I was finished there were no hosts to serve drinks, food etc. If they are going to host a blood drive be there.
I was 5 minutes late due to downtown traffic. They shut down their computers and wouldn't take my blood. I am O+. Nice one red cross if there is no shortage. Why do you keep calling me. Downtown Wichita kansas. She said the only wait 5 minutes. I pointed to the clock that said 1:35.
This is one organization I will never give money to or recommend. I've called 3 times and can't even get a call back and I'm down here where the hurricane hit! They don't care about anyone but themselves and what money they can get people to donate.

The beginning of my experience was good but when the needle went in no blood came out. Another worker had to assist and they put the cap of the needle against the needle with tape. The blood started to flow. After I was done the phlebotomists basically told me to leave, not stay there for the 15 minutes that are recommended. When I got home I kept the wrap on for 6 hrs which was recommended by the worker. When I took it off, blood shot out from my arm. The next day I had a big bruise which lasted 3 weeks. Called the 800# got little help from nurse. Will never go back here.
I have red cross, told representing at red cross that I need since I was affected by a major disaster! Red cross ain't really no damn help! They definitely do not do alot to help a homeless person like myself! Red cross don't care what u could be facing a lot of times! Red cross needs more bad reviews and more complaints against them! This also applies to salvation arm organization as well and stupid 211 number! Christine chastity lampkin.
We had everything we owned stolen. Apparently not worthy to receive help of any kind, not even a bag of clothes or a bag of food. Their "help" consisted of giving us a handful of phone numbers to call. These phone numbers were outdated and out of service mostly, or completely inappropriate such as a number to cancer survivor place that has nothing to do with anything. I can't believe I ever donated to this bogus charity that cares nothing about individual families and only goes out to high profile natural disasters where they can smile for the cameras for free advertising.
A few days ago I donated blood. I have a big bruise and it keeps growing enormous since. It is a bit painful. The nurse said it would bruise. But I expected a normal bruise, not one that takes up a quarter of my arm. The straps on my arm do not need to be so tight! The bruising tells me that my blood circulation was getting cut off.
I wish I had looked further into Red Cross before I donated. When I donated, they told me the finger prick would hurt more. Didn't even feel the prick, but the needle draw was 8 minutes of pain. I almost gave up because it was so bad and I started crying. When they put it in, I told them it stung, so they moved it around and it hurt more. Then 8 minutes of pain as I broke out into a sweat, felt extremely nauseous, and my whole body was struck with pins and needles. When it was done, I sat there for about 10 minutes as my entire body was numb. Worst experience ever. While I really like to donate, this first experience is keeping me from doing so. I hope Red Cross tries to get better trained phlebotomists, as the one I got was just a trainee, and left after about 3 minutes for their lunch break.
Working for the Red Cross I thought was going to be exciting but they rejected me. They wanted me to quit. I was so passionately doing the work, but lazy team members, one try to talk $#*! at me like if I had a learning disability, every tiny mistake gotten me in trouble and last minute information that gotten me in trouble. So from now on don't work for them, they want perfectionists and not professional attitudes. I try making friends, but so rude individuals who get so impatient and just treat others like crap. Terrible work environment.
My appointment was at 4pm at Columbia mall in MD. I showed up at 4:06 and waited there for 3 minutes for the employee to come to the desk. She informed me that she saw me come in at 4:06 and told me there is only a 5 minute grace period, and that I'd have to drive back home and reschedule my appointment for another day. Are you kidding me? You claim to have a severe blood shortage but will not accept people who show up 6 minutes late? Good luck to your foundation.
I took a training course with Red Cross in Denver over three weeks ago and I STILL haven't gotten my certificate for it. I need this certificate in order to start my job, and have called their customer service line many times and relayed that info to them. They say there's "nothing they can do" except contact the instructor, who apparently doesn't check their email for three weeks. I drove into Denver and got the phone number of my instructor's direct supervisor, called her, and she told me she had emailed someone who could help. I haven't heard back from her and it's been three days. This is the WORST treatment from an organization that I have ever experienced and so, incredibly unprofessional and disorganized. I have bills to pay! Three weeks without work is UNHEARD of! I have never been more frustrated in my life. I should sue them!
The phlebotomist I had while he was very nice was extremely inexperienced. Stuck me SIX times and was painful af. Then asked for help from others and they weren't nice at all. My whole arm is now bruised and let's not even talk about how bruised my finger is from the iron prick. No thank you.
I went to donate blood today, 11/17, at the Reynoldsburg Ohio Police Department Red Cross blood drive. My appointment was for 10:00. I arrived 10 minutes early, as did another person. We stood there till 10. At 10:00, the lady in charge came and told us, "sorry, it'll be another 15 or 20 minutes". No explanation. She could have at least told us earlier. They're paid; we're volunteers. They showed no respect for our time. The other fellow and I both left. Also, the male member of the Red Cross team was wearing his mask down on his chin the entire time... no respect for COVID protocols.
I have been a willing and diligent blood giver for years. In the midst of this global crisis and with all the desperate pleas for blood donations, I simply do not understand how the American Red Cross can not fit me into their schedule. Time and time again, I am encountering donation drives that are filled to capacity - which is great - but also frustrating for someone who truly wants to give. Then, I scheduled an appointment at a local donation center only to have the appointment cancelled on me 8hrs prior. I don't understand. If the Red Cross is in such need - why am I continually being turned away?
Set up an appt and answered questions, get to the site to donate and was greeted by a rude lady saying we had to scan a code and answer another 50 queations. I said, "we just want to donate blood" she was soooo rude amd said "well that has to be done " looked at my husband and said "let's just go donate at kaiser, they don't want your first born to donate"
This was at a mobile site at the downey promenade in Downey California.
You all want us to help, but you don't have nice people running it at this spot and why soooo many questions.
We have appts set up at kaiser to donate blood and plasma..
A total of ******* people died in 2010 earthquake. I remember contributing twice to Red Cross that year which collected $500 million in donations. Red Cross claimed it built ******* houses in Haiti. I know that it pays its president very well. When Elizabeth Dole was president in 90s she was paid close to $2.5 million. The much maligned NPR investigate Red Cross 2010 Haiti effort. It found that Red Cross built 6 houses in Haiti. If they walked across the street and told a resident that they be better of hammering something hanging loose, they recorded it as building a house. Red Cross is very secretive. It refused to open its books to Congress. Their administrative costs are 25 percent. When they collect a lot of money, they give money to other charities which take another 25% cut, the end receiver getting 30% of total. I give ~$250 +|- $50 every year to it. Not anymore. I used to give wounded warrior before a similar scam was unearthed.
I been donating for the last years every month and never had any problem put one time. The regular people who there at the Springfield MA were not there so they had worker from another site helping them that day so I had someone I never seen before call me and start to set me up for my blood and ended up blowing my vein and my arm become swollen and bruised. I was unable to donate that and had to reschedule. After that day I was always try to reschedule when the regular worker their until today when I show up everyone their today were people I never saw before. I decide to try and do my donation and ended up with 3 blow up vein because they were try to go ahead with the platelet donation when I keep telling them their were hurting me. I'm think my days of donating are coming to end. I love doing the donation to help people who need the help but I'm not willing to put my health on the line.
