Pretty decent site once, now is full of immature 4chan styled fascist moderation. A shame to see it happen but that's just how the internet is these days. Awful, childish mods that makes the north korean regime look liberal.

Those who moderate the site tend to fall into one of three categories:
1: Teenagers
2: Adults with emotional imbalance on a power trip
3. Passionate fans happy to do a public service

Unfortunately the third category has been clearly decreasing over the years. Category one have become category two. And that currently represents about 95% of the "staff".

Banned my account after 2 years. No warning. Just get out of here, you're banned. Sports is about debating but when you debate with someone who complains, you're banned. Don't waste time posting or using this site. They could care less about you.

A good ideological platform for athletes and fans. I purchased 2 online tickets for the NBA Summer League. Promptly, without too much stress. Bza information space on sports is under control and constantly updated, it's great.

There's a reason no one disagrees with other people on RealGM, SB Nation and other sites. The teams are running them, not ordinary people. RealGM instabans you for disagreeing with the party line on the boards. You will argue with another person and sock accounts, and if you fight too much, you will be banned. It's a sorry website full of little teenage bullies intolerant of other people's opinions. I went back some months after I was banned and found a pretty prolific poster himself had been banned. I really wish these sites were more tolerant of different opinions, there really is something wrong with the internet that needs to be addressed.

The moderators are truly miserable people with no life or happiness in their life, so to feel better about themselves they control the speech of others and can't take a joke. I broke none of the rules and was banned anyways because the moderators are mentally unhinged.

The main reason people go to this website are because of the forums. There is a lot of activity. The articles on the site are vanilla and usually a day or two later than mainstream websites.

The forums, while very active, are handled by up to 14 moderators in each forum. These moderators are open to whatever interpretation of the forum guidelines they see fit, and they are far from uniform. For example, one might be warned, suspended, or banned for comparing one player to another and being considered (flame bait) but in the very next thread, a moderator can say "sucking c*ck, inserting..." etc and nothing will happen.

If you want to go read a bunch of different takes on a variety of topics, realgm is good. If you want to participate, be prepared to enter a world of frustration on what you're allowed to say and what you're not.

I followed this site for at least 15 years before I signed up. I read the WireTap everyday and it sold me. I've enjoyed posting and I've read the reviews of those complaining about the moderators. They are a little inconsistent, but what can you expect from a lot of volunteers. They do help keep RealGM a fairly safe environment for anyone to post. The rules are well laid out in RealGM for all to see.

I've been on many other forums and still am on a few others; but RealGM is my favorite. They post the news and allow their users to express their opinions and ask questions PLUS they cover virtually every sport and seem to keep expanding to even more sports categories.

This used to be a quality site. I was a user of the site for years. I enjoyed basketball debates and discussions on the general basketball forums and the forum of my favorite team. I also enjoyed the various off topic forums, but the quality of posters and discussion on these forums has been in decline for years now. I'm not quite sure why, but the overall quality of posters throughout the site has been in a steady state of decline as well. Posters will always move on, except too many good posters moved on and were replaced by lesser ones. Again, I'm not sure why. Evidently the site has just lost its luster to many potential high quality posters. If the site didn't have a few unique features related to basketball, this site would be in a free fall instead of just hanging around as it is now as a less than interesting place to hang around online.

I mostly enjoy this board, but the global moderator Magnumt on the general board is on a serious power trip. He will troll other posters, then ban them when they respond. Then he will ban subsequent posters for calling out his misuse of power. Then he will lock the thread to bury it because he looks bad. I usually side with moderators because it can be a tough job, but this guy has a Napoleon complex. Be careful what you say to him.

Update: Several other moderators noticed the infraction, rescinded my ban, and leveled a formal complaint against Magnumt. I appreciate the swift and professional response by the admin of this board.

Moderators are bullies who abuse their power to harass posters. Verbal abuse, insults, lies, punishment.
