This app was totally fine until it stopped sending my messages and I could no longer receive messages either,I tried redownloading it multiple times and it keeps telling me to get a new number but right after I do it still won't send and it says the same thing.

I have used the app for 10 years but on 10/11 it completely stopped sending or receiving texts. I can open the app and see old threads, but that's it. It is happening on the phone app and when I sign in on the web. When I sent an inquiry to pinger.com, I received a reply that I am not authorized to use the app outside the U.S., but I am well within the U.S. Huge mess.

Beware!
February 11, 2020

Problem Description: BEWARE! After doing some research, I found out that the phone number they "reserved" for me actually belongs to a company who bought a bank of numbers last year. So apparently Pinger is selling and reselling the same phone numbers over and over again. I had them cancel my account and credit my money back to my account that I have spent. $5.99 (one year of reserving this # for me) and $2.99 (for removing the ads) BEWARE! They now have my credit card #!

Pinger offers a service app called TextFree available for androids or iPhone. Upon registration, you can pick or be assigned a phone number in whatever area code you choose. The app can then be used for text or phone calls. The free version has ads, and gives 60 minutes of talk time with unlimited texting (you still have to pay for SMS service). You can also earn additional free minutes by clicking on the ads.

This service is cool if you want to mask your phone number & don't want anyone to know your real number, because the recipient can only see the textfree number. You still need cellular or wireless service to use it.
