At first I thought Paybright was a great way to finance a large purchase. But then I ended up having to return the item I purchased, which was worth over $2000.

Their terms of service, my loan agreement and their website all state that if there's a refund, Paybright will refund ALL payments made on the loan in their entirety. I had made two payments totaling almost $300 before the return. When I checked my account to confirm the amount of the two payments I'd be refunded, I found that their refund was over $70 short of the amount of my payments.

I called Paybright right away and got the runaround. The woman who answered claimed she didn't know why they were keeping the extra money, so she kept putting me on hold for half an hour at a time to go and ask her supervisor. Then she came back with lame, invalid excuses like "it's interest". Except their agreements don't allow them to keep a dime if the loan is cancelled with a return. Basically Paybright thinks they have the right to keep a customer's money "just because" without even giving a reason why.

Of course I was not satisfied with this answer and demanded a written, full explanation of my account including a detailed explanation of why they think they're entitled to keep $70 my payment money on a returned item when their own agreements don't give them this right. They promised to send me an email with the information by the end of today. Guess what? No email.

I'm forced to conclude that these are sleazy crooks who steal people's money when they have to give someone a refund, and they hope the customer doesn't notice.

So if you're thinking of financing something with Paybright - be warned, if you return the item they will try to rip you off on the refund, so make sure you check the amount carefully.
