Nowhere on the web will you find a site like this. Yeah it's cliquie but any place you go is too. People are people. I've been on Pan for ages as a paid and unpaid subscriber. NEVER did i feel that I was treated differently when i was unable to pay the nominal membership. Pan offers so much for all levels of writers. It offers a chance to meet new friends online and in R L if you're into it. Most of all it gives you the place to 'unleash your imagination, be someone else or just write the novel or story you've always wanted to write. Try it. There is a free membership.

I am an ardent admirer of both the Pans! (PanHistoria.com and PanErotica.us) I write in both and have for a very long time. Of all the online sites I've visited, The Pans time and again prove to be a warm and welcoming site. The staff are friendly and will go out of their way to help you. Staff are VOLUNTEERS, just your average Jo giving freely of their time. Bottom line is, it begins to feel like family. Some place you always want to come home to.

Once a really great place to come to, to write, and enjoy. As someone who not only belonged to Pan for many years but supported it by buying subscriptions for years, I found out the hard way how very cruel the owner and staff can be. Many of us gave blood, sweat and tears to this site, rebuilding, helping, supporting with own money and time. Only to be humiliated, hurt, bashed, and chased away. I left, because I was threatened by the owner of the site, even to this day it hurts I had done so much for that site, we all did, he never thanks anyone... There were good people here once, very sad what has happened because of management. The site is member supported, which means you pay to be treated like garbage, it is free to join, keep it free. Only give what you want. They don't care about resolving anything there, management's idea of resolving is black listing you so no one will ever deal with you again. I did go to the BBB, the owner is never held accountable for his behavior. I feel if you run a business you should treat people with the respect they deserve, by paying upwards of 120. A year for a subscription I supported Pan, however Pan did not support me, there is no customer support, no one to lodge complaints to they all go to owner, so of course you never get help, which it should never be that way. If you run a business as Pan is, be fair, be polite. Treat your customers with respect, after all there not paying for your nasty behavior, but on Pan you are...

Panhistoria is a writers community run, and supported by it's members in much the same manner as PBS only without the government funding. It is a community of individuals all of whom have lives outside of the site. As such each contributing individual will get out of the site what they put in to it. The site is driven by imagination, and limited only by what each individual is capable of dreaming up. That said, many of the endeavors on the site are usually set, and limited to specific themes. Individuals involved in these endeavors will naturally want others who will support their vision for said endeavor. As far as clicks, and all that sort of thing... Panhistoria is a community in every sense. There is no such thing as a community that isn't going to have a few people who just don't get you. I myself have been with the site off and on for a very long time. In all that time I have never had trouble with any of the staff at Pan, and can honestly say that thanks to Pan I can now boast of having friends all over the world. Many of whom will tell you that I am quite certifiable. I imagine that the reason I have always come back is because this site has a personal touch that I have never experienced anywhere else. I have done my utmost to support others on the site, cheered at their triumphs, and cried my eyes out over lost friends. I know of no other place outside RL that comes anywhere close to this unique website. Everyone who is willing to give the site a chance, and put a little effort into it, will come away a new person.

I'm one of the staff at PanHistoria.com. I'm quite surprised at the previous reviewer's comments. Unlike many larger commercial sites, Pan is staffed exclusively by volunteers, that is to say, enthusiasts of the site who enjoyed their experience as subscribed or unsubscribed members and wanted to give back to their online community.

For a long time I was an unsubscribed member because, frankly, there are so many free features that spending money seemed unnecessary. Contrary to what the earlier reviewer suggested, "novels," which in the site parlance are forums for creative, collaborative writing, can be purchased for relatively modest fees, and the fees can even be shared among many members. Contests regularly give them away for free.

I'm disheartened that the previous reviewer felt staff was disinterested. Nothing could be further from the truth. Pan is a site were any member can message not just the staff but the site owners, who themselves do not hide behind email boxes but are there, ready to chat to members live, on the spot. Many features are customized to the user's desires, and these requests can indeed take a little time but a week or more delay would be quite an exception. Subscribers do not receive favoritism, though some features do require some form of payment. It helps pay the bills.:)

I would hope that any member would be willing to give us another chance.

This site uses a site currency called Panickels(PN) and Pandabucks.(PB) The site currency is purchased alone (PN only, you have to buy a membership to get PBs) or received with memberships or the occasionally contest. Members can use their site currency to buy things such as novels, ads, invisibility on the panel, and things like that.

But unless you are purchasing something that is automated don't expect it to happen quickly. A novel costs a lot of site currency and it can take weeks to get it. In the meantime you might receive a note saying the novel will get made when it gets made and don't bother staff about it.

Customer service seems to be "ignore the customer and they will go away and we won't have to do anything."

Once you buy the site currency they have your money. So what if you get what you pay for in a timely fashion.

People with the higher memberships get treated better though.

I suggest avoiding this site which is full of cliques and choosing one of the free writing sites instead.

I have been at Pan since near the beginning. Things for me were really good for a good while then when Pan had it's big crash and was down for a month it seems like when we came back all the psychos came out too. I have had some real issues with some people on Pan. I have had some very hurtful things said to me that made me want to leave. Finally for a while I did leave I had RL issues and time was a factor but the but I needed a break from the people that were always causing problems. But I missed it and I missed writing.

However, on the other side there are a lot of really good people at Pan, too. I am friends with several staff members and owners and I do not see that all of them give preferential treatment to either their friends or those who have a paid membership. I have had been both paid and unpaid and never saw a difference there.

My one other complaint would be the customer service. I think that some, not all of the staff need to work on their customer service skills and just people skills in general; or new people need to take their place if they can not even use simple courtesies. I too, have had to wait well over a week for a novel to be created and basically was told to deal with it. That is not good customer service. If staff members need replacing because they either don't want to do it anymore or they don't have time or just can't muster up common courtesy then there are a plethora of people who love the site who would be happy to volunteer their time to doing just that... I am one of them.

All in all I think the site is a good place to be. I know I have learned a lot about writing and improved my writing and graphic skills immensely from being there. There are going to be good people in any community whether online or in RL... it's part of life.
