I had a large-ish meeting/gathering planned, and we decided to try Dave and Buster's Arcade in Concord, CA. I was careful to make a reservation through the Dave and Buster's website, which took me to Open Table reservations. It was all a complete waste of time, since the hostess at Dave and Buster's had no idea who we were, and what I was talking about. "We don't have a hostess working tonight, so it is just open seating." And it was pretty full. You are making a phantom reservation that is a complete waste of time and has no bearing in this reality. Apparently, they don't know each other or, at least, do not know what the other is doing. Open Table needs to know that the business is NOT HONORING THE RESERVATION AT ALL! Why aren't they aware of this? Dave and Buster's are paying a fee to Open Table, but Open Table hasn't even bothered to follow up whether the business is using or honoring their service! You would think that would be important since that is their total purpose. What a total waste of time and effort. The reservation that you are making is a hoax, it is not real, not at all. Perhaps on another night it actual might matter, but the time I used it, it absolutely didn't. Call the business and get some information, because Open Table does not care enough to know that the person is just wasting their time and that their total product DOES NOT WORK..
I left a one-star review for a restaurant and it was never posted to their website.
In addition, when trying to contact support - there is NO human option. The chat bot forces you through a bunch of irrelevant questions with NO way to directly reach a human.
Received reward card (5000 points) for $25 which came with NO instructions, declined 1st time, called and was told to wait 30-days which I did, declined again. Will book direct from now on. Not worth the hassle.
I had the privilege to attend a wild game and Wild Turkey bourbon pairing dinner Thursday night at Cioppinos in the strip district! The food was absolutely amazing above all my expectations. The menu included rabbit, duck and elk made two ways followed by the perfect desert of pastry with ice cream that they make in house! Delicious! The service was just as wonderful! I can't wait to see what Cioppinos does for the next dinner pairing!
We had a good run, many years many reservations, and now, about 5 for 5 when your app, just does not work. I am not getting an error message, just an "unfortunately not working at this time" Message. And I have not abused this tool. I call to cancel whenever forced... very frustrating as you have locked in with MANY restaurants in Chicago.
OpenTable reviews are utterly unreliable, and even the language in the reviews gives it out. We did not want to trust our gut feel on this and went to a restaurant rated 4.6/5 on OpenTable (vs 3/5 Yelp and Google) - our reality check rating is 2.5/5
Don' t rely on Open Table! More times than not I failed to get a reservation thru Open tabe and called the restaurant just to get the date and time slot I wanted. Those places that do not answer a phone to take reservations, well...if that is how little they value my patronage, I don't want to support their business. Aba here in Austin a prime example.
I reserved a table at a nice restaurant for Mother's Day. I got confirmation of the time and that all was well. Then got a call the day before Mothers Day from the resultant stating Open Table was taking reservations even though they have been booked out for week. Now it was too late to get anything anywhere else.
The restaurant website takes me to Open Table and I make a reservation on my computer. It shows up on my calendar, but not on my phone app. I modify a reservation and I get a text with the updated info, but the calendar stays the same. I log in on my computer and no reservations show up. There is some history on the app and web account, but I don't think it is all of them. Every attempt to reach a human to see if I have a second account by accident is met with a cycle of auto responses that never end in a human or an answer. I am done with Open Table. If a restaurant will not take my direct reservation I do not want to give them my business
If you try to make a reservation via OpenTable, most of the time tables are unavailable. When I then call the restaurant, I have never failed to get a reservation for the date and time that I am looking for. If there is a restaurant that does not accept a reservation via telephone, I simply skip it and go to another place that values their customers sufficiently to accept telephone calls. There are literally tens of top restaurants in my city, so not a problem to find one with good food AND good service (I definitely consider them accepting telephone reservations as part of good service)
I tried to use my reward but it got rejected at the restaurant. I had already left the restaurant so they told me how the restaurant should have processed instead of telling training the restaurant. They said they would restore my reward but they never did. They finally sent me an email saying my issue was closed. RIPOFF!
I have tried to use OpenTable rewards cards twice now and was humiliated both times when the payment was declined. OpenTable always blames the restaurant staff, but they will not give YOU the number for the restaurant to call if they have problems. This is FRAUD!
This app is the most UN user-friendly app I have ever experienced. It cancelled all of my reservation (I was forced to make 3 to accommodate our party of 10) and would not allow me to contact them. I tried to adjust it on the website, but the reservations didn't exist despite having both email confirmations as well as texts?! Tried contacting them by phone and after being on hold for more than 45 mins, moving from #6 in the queue to #3, it then said that there was an issue and I would have to try again later.
Restaurants must surely be losing business by using this app.
I generally like the OpenTable app. It is very convenient. But I am very unhappy with the company,
Over the years I'd built up about 15,000 points. I tried redeeming them in recent months- they were worth about $100 presumably against a dinner at an OpenTable restaurant. The redemption request never worked- after selecting the right choices on the web site I was supposed to get an email telling me how to cash in. That never happened even though I checked spam folders and the like. I wrote customer service and they sent me a form email on 3/25 telling me how to do what I had already done. Now it turns out that over 10,000 of those points expired on 4/7. This feels to me like they make it hard to redeem points in order to avoid the costs of doing so. I am very disappointed after being such a good customer of theirs for many years.
Ditas of Marin, the former Ondine restaurant has been transformed into an extraordinary experience. Perched above The Trident on Bridgeway. The menu is a combination of fusion. The Chef is warm and very knowledgeable about cuisine. Nikita, CEO, has the grace and right touch. We LOVE Ditas of Marin, a frequenbt visitor, bar/lounge menu available and a million dollar view. First class experience. Susan Roe
They entice members with a rewards program, however it is extremely difficult to find restaurants that honor the reward, in addition good luck trying to get it back if you happen to lose it in your email. Tried calling customer service, always on hold for more than 30 minutes, gave up. Then tried emailing, fast acknowledgment of receipt, no response to question, going on 2 weeks and still waiting..
OpenTable should be ashamed of their horrendous customer service, or really, complete lack thereof. There is no live chat or phone number to contact once you've spent $1 million to get your "$20 gift card" that never shows up. If you email them, you'll never hear back. I wish another site would compete with them and take away their business.
Many moons ago, OT was a useful service. Points were easily collected and redeemed. Nowadays, it's painful to both reserve and redeem points, especially in Canada. Fancy waiting 6 weeks for a cheque in the mail, while they promise on their website that gift certificates are "issued within an hour"?
Password changes never work (despite being in a tech capital of the world in SF?!), frequent website glitches, requests often don't go through. Customer service takes about 1 hour standard to get through to. Just astounded at how horrible the company is overall. I've had to create 4 different profiles due to problems resetting passwords. Why is opentable still used even? So many better sites to use for reservations.
Reward point system does not work. I recently redeemed points for a dining card. The card loaded with $25. The expiration date however was 8 days prior. It was unusable. Called number and no answer. Complete scam. Open Table is messed up!
Answer: I don't know, but I do know that Open Table gets $1 from the restaurant for each person on the reservation. So they make $8 for a party of 8, but give a (puny) $1 to the person booking it. Good point to bring up with them.
OpenTable has a rating of 1.3 stars from 319 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with OpenTable most frequently mention customer service, gift card and phone number. OpenTable ranks 60th among Restaurant Reviews sites.
