My card expired, got a new one. Card on file was never updated, wasn't planning on renewing the domain I had purchased in 2020. It was the only one on this account. Got an email about renewal, been busy, assumed since my card was never updated, domain would lapse as they couldn't bill and I never turn on auto renew for domains.
Turns out they can bill your card regardless of if it is expired or not. Reached out to support to find out how this can be as it seems really unsafe and to get a refund for the domain as, again, wasn't planning to renew.
Turns out, you don't opt in to auto renew, they set it up automatically when you create your account and you have to "OPT OUT" of it.
I'm told by the agent they have deals with credit card companies and can update information on the backend to charge the card. Insane.
Requested a refund, as again, wasn't planning to renew and the actual domain purchase date isn't until January. Was told:
"I really do wish I could have given you the refund, but once the domian is renewed it won't be possible to refund on the domain renewal or make any changes for the expire date of the domain."
So, not a really great experience. No resolution. Won't be using them again and I recommend you don't either.

I have been a customer since 2006, my email and my website were on the old system and having issues that don't seem to get solved. Me email was to be migrated to the new system and has stopped working twice now without any notice. My web sire is still hosted on the old system but i cannot access it to make any changes and am told i need to make a new website on the new system. Answer: We are located in Australia and trying to make contact is virtually impossible. They don't respond to emails, Calling them is an expensive international phone call, The time zone is completely different so I had to call at some ungodly hour of the morning, they are not friendly and find dealing with customers a big pain. They offer no real value and have no idea of what customer service is.

Answer: I was working with a consultant from the Small Business Development Center when I began my business. She advised me to register my LLC and then to go to Register.com to buy the domain name before anyone else could. Later on, she suggested Register when I was looking for hosting.
