Not able to hear music during skating events. Very low and background noise is apparent. Last evening 2/9 the mens free skate music was almost not there. This has been continuous. Background sounds including breathing and someone tapping pencil/pen during skating.
Terrible sound which was the same during team competition.
Who is responsible for sound quality.
TERRIBLE!
The fact I am Up at 1:40am trying to watch the olympics and I can Watch 1 event actually live on 6 channels is an atrocity. This coverage is absolute garbage. We know time zones, show the games outside of that is just calling us imbeciles.
I love the olympics and paid for cable solely to be able to stream the olympics this year. For the track and field, the early morning sessions replay perfectly yet the afternoon sessions continuously stall and start over. I have yet to get past the 9 minute mark on either day 1 or day 2 of the track and field afternoon sessions. =(
Update 2 days later. Now it's all of the streams. I figured out that it's the commercial breaks. On rare occasion, the commercial breaks are embedded and flow flawlessly. But for every other stream, they take you to a separate timing for the ads and then it fails after the ads each time. Just so disappointing that a big-time organization like NBC can't figure out how to make this work...
Everything was going just great until you bring out the odd ball Wier. He is a disgrace to the other commentators who have something to contribute in a professional way. Could be part of the reason your ratings were so low. He is disgusting! He is even an embarrassment to the homosexual community.
The coverage of the Women's Figure Skating was very disappointing. The announcers, Weir and Lipinski went too far with their criticism. Just because they were privileged to have great coaches and their parents' support. It
doesn't mean it is the same in other countries. The skaters, specifically, the Russians, are children. The announcers don't know exactly what these skaters go through. They may have only seen what the Russians wanted them to see,, if and when they visited a Russian training center. The announcers were very arrogant and condescending. These Russian skaters probably have no choice in what they eat or drink. They are children and have to do what they're told. They may not have been informed about illegal substances or have any choice or voice in their training. They did not deserve the bashing the reporters gave them. Also, the cameras should not have followed these girls backstage, showing their heartbreak and tears of distress. Johnny should not have translated what they were saying.& It was an invasion of their privacy. This was horrible! All the blame should be on the adults- not the skaters! If the tests were negative at the Olympics, then they should be allowed to skate. SHAME ON NBC!
The coverage of the olympics was terrible. When events were scheduled totally different evens were shown. Womens soccer scheduled but kayaking appeared. The programing manager at NBC must have been a moron when it comes to what viewers liked. In my view NBC was the worst coverage of olympics ever!
Considering the phase of existence we have been passing through, it is a pleasure to see others of us giving their best effort at what they love. We probably all should try some of that.
On a little of a down side, I do wish people responsible for the graphics in sport broadcasting were better trained in color, contrast and font sizing. My eyes are three times older than the athletes I watch
NBC - Why on earth would you interview the US flag bearers as they are walking in the opening ceremony? It distracted their experience, took away from their fellow athletes and ruined it for anyone watching from the US. Here's an idea … interview them another time. Seriously, this was another example of stupid media! # fail
This year, NBC did not measure up to its usual excellence in the Olympics. Too many personal opinions and not enough emphasis on the techniques of each Olympian. Plus, favoritism showed. Hope next time, will be less biased with focus on the games not the politics.
I have watched gymnastics my entire life. Have never seen coverage where a commentator talked so much about herself. Who gives a crap about what the announcer is wearing. I don't even understand this level of narcissism. Nastia. It's not about you.
Not as much sports coverage as sports interference. Inane filler between events. Split screens with commercials on 2/3 of the screen and ongoing competition on 1/3? Outrageous! Can only be watched by recording so you can fast forward theough the junk.
So many ads during the opening and closing ceremony. Why can't we just watch all the countries in the parade without missing some of them due to ads. Even the split screen ads didn't help that I'd rather mute my TV during those sections.
Skateboarding had awesome commentators but I had to switch from the TV coverage to the internet stream/replay because of ads skipping some skaters. Same for events like BMX park.
They really trying to indoctrinate people with the amount of ads they show. I wasn't getting watching the Olympics. I was watching a bunch of ads with some Olympics on the side.
The fact you have 2 sets of commentators for the figure skating is ridiculous. Especially the woman who talks the whole way through. "Now she's doing crossovers. Now she did a jump. She's wearing a dress with lots of sequence. Her hair is in a bun with a colorful clip." It is so asinine, having this woman talking over Terry, Tara and Johnny to the point where they each cancel each other out. Then I turned to the snowboarding and you have a guy doing the same irritating thing. If I continue watch at all, I'll do it with the sound on mute.
Rebroadcasts and Repeats. Split screen commercials so you can't hear commentators let alone able to see a competitor's score. I am going to scratch NBC off of my viewing list. The want you to pay for Peacock. I would have given zero stars if I could have. This has to be a complete embarrassment for NBC. Couldn't even follow the schedule of what order events would be on. Just horrible!
Why is NBC putting sports on USA in the afternoon and the same broadcast in NBC later. I dont know anyone that does not have recording. If it was worth seeing, they can record it. There is no reason to watch NBC Primetime. Today for instance there was Luge and now it is on again tonight on NBC. They had Long jump on toady and then rebroadcast it, like that has a huge following. Just terrible coverage. So many different sports and they play the same ones over and over. Then the same nauseating people announcing and covering every Olympics. How about some new people.
Worst coverage ever. Half the time you don't know who is making runs and split screen commercials cause you to miss the rest. Mens half pipe is the worst.
The outdoor P. A. volume totally drowns out your event analysts with loud, echoing, often foreign jiborish. Some of your indoor analysts just babble on and seem bored with their event. (eg womens hockey) Constant reruns don't make for interesting viewing, and going to split screen muting olympic coverage for commercials while events are taking place is frustrating and inexcusable. Savannah and Hoda with jackets and hats in their NY studio doesn't really add authenticity or interest. As a lifelong Olympic junkee, this was/is an embarassment. I feel sorry for the athletes.
You suck NBC - I want LIVE Olympic coverage - Thanks to NBC trying to make more money, the rest of the world gets to watch the Olympics live, but we in the US get stuck with 12 hour delayed coverage.
It's so annoying - on the official Olympic website: http://en.beijing2008.cn/
If you are from the US you are prevented from watching the live videos from other countries. This is such crap. I hate you NBC.
Anyone know any ways around this? (other than moving to another country =)
Absolutely worst coverage I have seen in a long time. Will quit watching any further Olympic events going forward. Mikaela Shiffrin skies out a second time in a row and NBC stops coverage of all other competitors?! Completely missing the point of what the Olympics are all about.
Viewers also shouldn't be forced into paying extra money to sign up for Peacock in order to able to watch an important event like the Olympics.
Once again your coverage of the Olympics is a dumpster fire! Running the same sports on 2 channels at the same time is NOT giving us good content. I think someone needs to retool the entire Olympics coverage, you have enough channels and yet you run the same thing on 2 or 3 channels leaving tons of content off the air. I wish someone at NBC Sports gets a clue or Olympics will no longer be on NBC or the pay for channels. You should be ashamed of your coverage!
NBC Olympics has a rating of 1.5 stars from 67 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with NBC Olympics most frequently mention split screen, worst coverage and half pipe. NBC Olympics ranks 296th among Videos sites.
