They kept me on hold for an hour! And I have a promotion and yet they wanna charge me extra those $#*!ers!
They are a scam business! Don't do it!
SCAM! CONS! AND DONT DO LIVING SPACES! THEY SUCK TOO!
It is highly unfair that Synchrony Bank continues to raise the APR consistently on my account, over the span of 4 years, even though I have a good payment history. Recently, I discovered that they raised the interest four times in less than a year which makes it difficult to pay off the balance. Throughout the years, I had to escalate simple requests because their customer service reps would not follow through. Twice, I encountered issues with my promotional balances and my payments not being applied correctly. After 4 years of being a Walmart store credit card customer, I have decided to close my account to not be subjected to any further interest increases and pay off my balance accordingly.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the CFPB.
Their escalation specialist was unhelpful, apathetic, and rude. It is clear that they do not value their customers and will continue to raise their customers' interest rates without any justification, no matter if they have a good payment history or not. Last year I encountered several issues with this particular store credit card and it was only after I escalated my concerns to their CEO, that my concerns were actually addressed. In my opinion, their copy of my credit card agreement is vague especially pertaining to account closure. If you read it thoroughly as I have, the wording is confusing and no where does it state that if you close your account that you will still be subjected to increased interest rates. Their reps continue to state that it does when clearly it does not. I foresee a class settlement since they're shady and unethical. It is not a coincidence that many of their customers are dissatisfied with their customer service and many feel that Synchrony Financial should be investigated for their ridiculous interest increases. Furthermore, they actually lied in their rebuttal stating that I was requesting a 0% APR on my account which is ridiculous. As I consumer, I have every right to inquire about their unfounded interest hikes. As many customers have stated, they are a joke. I have no desire to speak to anyone from Synchrony Bank regarding this review.
This is still being worked on. I will add more about this after I speak with synchrony bank. I have contacted my payment bank.
I wish I could gice SUB ZERO stars. Horrible company that is a glorified mob outfit that sends you bills with contract information you think you're getting but the information disappears on their screens when you attempt to pay or clarify a bill. Excessive charges accrue for no reason. Incompetent staff and they hang up on you. Full of lies and deceit. Do NOT finance through this company. Avoid at all costs. I had 2 years to pay off a furniture bill with 24 months deferred interest. Synchrony conveniently didn't have that contract when I tried to pay the bill off 7 months early and didn't honor their promotional offer of differed interest which is what they put in writing on the bill they sent. They had excuses as to why they didn't have that information and told me to mail a dispute to another department which is another cubical over. No one apparently in that department has a working phone, starlink, 5g, satellite, email, or morse code. NEVER USE THIS SHADY UNFIT FINANCING COMPANY. THEY ARE SCAMMERS.
When you make a payment on the first of the month they charge you a late fee for not paying on the second day of the month.
I financed Clear Correct retainers (orthodontics) through my dentist and unfortunately they were partnered with this bank. My experiences with this bank have led to general research and discovery of what a lot of you already know. Much of what's already been stated by others is the experience I've had with them as well:
* Technically deficient website and processes that lack acknowledgement of being in the 21st century
* Website is designed to be frustrating and hard to use
* Overcharged interest at the time of promotional expiration
* Customer service is inadequately trained and unprofessional; I was hung up on several times
* They will rerun your credit as often as they want, negatively impacting consumer credit scores
* They will close cards without communication or reason, negatively impacting consumer credit scores
* They will reduce your credit limit below your balance, negatively impacting consumer credit scores
In my case, after paying off ~50% of my original balance, the promotional rate expired and I was hit with interest charges totaling ~45% of the entire original purchase price. The interest charges were much higher than the rate calculations on the original balance - even considering the worst period of compounding daily. When I inquired for an explanation of the charges I was met with an untrained and impolite support staff. Multiple times I was hung up on, etc. Synchrony has absolutely mastered the art of fatiguing their customers with arduous processes and difficult-to-use support systems. They are not accredited by the BBB and their are thousands of 1 star and negative reviews across many renowned review sites; Best Company, Sitejabber, Consumer Affairs, TrustPilot, etc.
I strongly discourage anyone from engaging with Synchrony Bank; they are corrupt, dishonest, and run a very shady business that is arguably borderline illegal.
I called synchrony bank on January 5,2023 to withdraw my cd account and closed it, because the maturity date of my cd account was december 23,2022. The first representative that was telling me that I have to pay the penalty for the amount of $40 for closing the account. I didn't know that they automatic renew my account even though without my authorization. She even told me that they send me a letter which I never got it. I was so upset, so I had to disconnect and think what to do my account. 10 minutes after I made a phone to them and I spoke another representative. This man from the synchrony financial I informed him that I want to closed my cd account and I want to know how much I have to pay the penalty. He said I have to pay for $85. I was shock because the amount for penalty was changed. I told him that why the charged changed the amount so I demand him that I want to speak your supervisor. I spoke to the supervisor and I told her that I never give any of you authorization to renew my CD account. She said since I didn't make a call or email to them my account will be automatic renew. She said that we have to charged you for $85 to closed your cd account early. I said i never sign up an automatic renewal and I never get a letter that you guys send by mail and why charged change from $40 to $85. The supervisor asked me "who said we send you a letter by mail"? And who said that charged for penalty is $40"? I said to the supervisor that I spoke the first representative before I talk to you. So the first representative person that I spoke was lying to me. All information that she provides was incorrect. Then Supervisor was starting an apologize the for incorrect information. Synchrony is freaking Scam! Cannot trusted anymore scumbag!
This so-called bank is atrocious.
Spouse opens an Amazon card, then backed by Synchrony, with a 750+ credit score. Physical card fails to arrive, but card or statement are required to set up online management of account. They charged some initial fees (annual? Prime?), so the card started with a balance that we didn't know about - so that in combination with inability to login, resulted in a missed payment on my spouse's perfect record. Called service several times and they would not provide account info without us having the physical docs, but gave us the mailing address to remit payment and told to reference his SSN? Round and round we go to get a replacement. Three months later, we're making blind payments to a card we have zero visibility on and we finally get the card, and we've now overpaid the balance with a credit in our favour. We spend that balance to level set to zero. Six months and zero purchases later, we receive a notice that the credit line of $2500 has been reduced to $250 for lack of use. We cancelled the card within ONE year. They had the nerve to reduce the card to $100 in case we wanted to use it to finance the Amazon Prime charge? We had to call back again to firmly cancel. What was the point of all that?!
We now have a JP Morgan Chase card with Amazon, btw. Offers all kinds of cool flexible payment options and perks. Couldn't be happier.
Fast forward and I finance an initial purchase with Google Store at 0% with Synchrony. It goes well enough so I make some purchases annually at Christmas and then last year I skipped and didn't make any - To be clear, I didn't want a whole Google Store card; I only wanted to finance my purchases at 0% because, obviously - why not? Make every payment without fail, all purchase agreements 100% satisfied without any issue whatsoever. Now they've reduced my credit line due to non-use and it's triggered a bunch of alerts from my credit monitoring that my score has decreased due to this credit line reduction. I know that these things fluctuate all the time but this seems completely unnecessary. I'm getting a wrist slap for not using your card? Because I need to buy Google products every day, right? No other card we have has ever penalized us for non-use. Not even Amex!
Who are these people and what profile of cardholder are they looking for? Not the paying kind! Not the good to excellent credit rating kind! So upset by this that I'm paying off the last of my 0% finance purchase in full and early, just to close this card. What does that tell you?
Hey Google! Switch companies! Offer 0% purchases with PayPal or Affirm or co-brand a card with a real bank and allow people to charge their Google Ads and/or offer financing options across all of your business units.
This is not helping your brand to associate with Synchrony Bank. You're in the dark ages with these guys.
So, I found out on Friday that my account with Care Credit had been closed with no notification from Synchrony Bank via email, text, call or mail. I didn't understand why and called them on today. Synchrony Bank closed my account in June 2022 that I had with them for over three years, with no late payments ever, no payments due ever, and nothing owed to them at this time based on a credit report that was received by them from Transunion. I asked the representative why did Synchrony Bank pull a credit report on me after having been with them for over three years, the representative stated to me that Synchrony Bank automatically receives these reports every month from the credit bureaus and based on what Transunion stated they denied me credit and closed an account that had been open and in good standing with them for over three years,. Did you Synchrony Bank forget that everyone is suffering from the fallout of Covid 19 and still recovering and I am still trying to find out how they received a credit report when my account has a fraud alert on it from the breech of a certain credit reporting agency and had a freeze on it? Neither Synchrony Bank nor Transunion had permission to access my account without calling me (Transunion and asking my permission if my credit report could be accessed by any company, so one of these companies also broke the law, that is criminal. I also stated to the representative why I didn't receive notice of this decision via mail, phone, email or text from Synchrony Bank, the young lady stated one was sent out, I stated to her no, I never received any type of notification from Synchrony Bank stating my account had been closed, the representative stated to me that she would email me one today, I stated to her, no, I didn't want it, it was to late for that now, I already new. I want to say to you Synchrony Bank, what you did was criminal, dirty, underhanded and sneaky, if this is the way you treat loyal customers after over three years I want to warn and let anyone and everyone know that based on your character and treatment towards me you are not worthy to be in business, your account is closed.
