Synchrony financed my couch. I paid it in full, never missing a single payment. When the loan was completely paid off in the contract terms without a single missed payment or underpayment, I asked for the account to be closed.

They refused and continued to access me a monthly "account fee" which I refused to pay. I asked MANY TIMES over TWO YEARS for the account to be closed. I paid my obligation IN FULL. They have completely ruined my perfect credit.

I would NEVER consider financing with Synchrony ever again. They are a complete scam.

Not Worth It

Had an acct with Rooms to Go and Care Credit for FIVE years. Always been on automatic payments, never late, never missed a payment. This past month, I had an issue with my bank and both payments resulted in an NSF. I only knew this because MY BANK notified, not synchrony. So I went in and paid both manually. A couple of weeks later I got a letter in the mail saying both acts were closed because of the NSF! Didn't try to contact me or anything, just automatic closure! Spoke to supervisor and nothing they can do… are you kidding me? Never heard of anything like that ever!

I do not like anything about this bank anymore. Because when I had a fraudulent issues with one of the motel's owner, the bank didn't investigate it properly, even after I provided all the evidence that $150.49 was charged from my card AFTER I have already paid for our stay in motel $66.54 with the bank's card by myself during check out. They didn't care that I was a loyal customer for years, who paid thousands $ with their card, always paid off statements on time, and had never had any issues with them before. Bank didn't care that a usual night in that motel is from $65 to 75 NOT $150.49. As well as the motel charged me twice: first - $66.54 in their location, promising us that that was the only payment we had to do; and second - when we were on our way home from vacation they also charged us $150.49. Bank accepted a fake docs from fraudulent managerial and didn't even go through the receipts and explanation I'd provided. The customer service is located in India. And they don't help you at all. In my case the owner of motel was Indian family and the customer service are also all ONLY Indian people who even don't locate in America. Bank's customer service also lied to me that they opened the dispute the charge case second time because it was many questions, but instead they didn't do it, and even started charging me interest from the money which are under the dispute the charge case. I feel really very discriminated, put down and disappointed. I will never ever use this card anymore.

They will destroy your credit by continuously lowering your account balances.
I have never been late with my payments or gone over my credit limit and only requested cards with their associated companies to build my credit. However, as a result I have had my credit score lowered time and time again due to the lowering of account balances by Synchrony.
Their actions are based on activities that don't necessarily affect them.
By lowering credit limits closer to your current balance suggest a higher usage of your account balance.
Do not be fooled by this company! They are wolves in sheepish clothing!

Never Again

First off, trying to talk to someone is jumping through hoops. The fact that I feel like I was screwed into the "no interest charges" and when I noticed they added 2 years of interest on my furniture, now they say they will drop the interest charges if I pay off the balance but STILL make my monthly payment on top of it. This is robbery and I hate that i put myself in this predicament. Never again. BOOOO

Do not ever even get a loan with this company let alone a credit card. We called to get a payoff on our loan and they quoted a payoff. No explaining anything, mind you I had just made a payment. Calling in again today ask why the title had not been mailed yet and are told we owe more than payoff that was sent. That being said on this same call I was given THREE completely different payoff amounts even in one call. Then get to a manager named Savannah and get hung up on. The complete worst company and customer service ever including a manager. Then being told it would take another 3 to 5 days to for a call review for previous calls.

I have many accounts through synchrony and all of the sudden they closed both of my accounts. They charge high deferral interest charges and their customer service people are outsourced so you can't understand what they are saying and on top of it you almost never get the US. The CS person said I had no money in my account and I told him I had fraud on my account and he proceeded to tell me that it's not true.
Very rude and disrespectful to customers. I give them a half a star.

I wish I could give zero stars. I had issues logging in to make a payment and finally got help after a lot of hassle. My payment did not go through and they said it's from insufficient funds despite the fact there was money in my account. Since then, I had paid what was owed as well as what was the next month's payment. I was shocked today when I got a letter today in the mail saying they close my account -without notice. Not only have they been horrible to work with and have not communicated well, I would definitely not use them -I am hoping to pay off another card I have a different store with them soon as I can close it and not have to interact with them further. They have been that bad. I definitely don't recommend them in the future. I don't know how they stay in business with such terrible customer service!

Closed Accounts

Forget about getting anything from Synchrony Bank, they will eventually closed your accounts, just Google Synchrony bank closed my accounts and you will see how many good customers who had their account closed for no reasons, customer are also talking about a class action lawsuit about this.

I have read many of the bad reviews and have concluded that consumers are not reading nor understanding the terms of the contract before making a purchase. I have never had a problem with any card financed by Synchrony Bank. I have had no problems disputing purchases for a valid reason. Customer service reps are professional. The secret to using cards backed by Synchrony is simple. Pay your bill on tome or early. Make the payments for more than the minimum requested. Do not purchase anything that you can't pay off in less than 6 months. Remember your income to best ratio. If you are paying out more than 2/3 of your pay or earnings to bills already… whatever you want to buy with a credit card…DON'T! You too can have the same great experience with this bank as I have

Bad service

We got credit cards from them and they canceled our cards without telling us and when asked if we could restart them they said no even after we paid them 400 dollars to get the accounts where they said we needed them.

I hate them so much!

I never felt the need to Review a company like this but this company is horrible. Every three months they lower my credit card usage resulting in my credit score dropping tremendously every time. For instants last month they drop my limit by $590 and a few month before that it was around the same amount. Whenever they send me the letters explaining why it says because of lack of real estate and that just Doesn't make any sense to me. Please please please stay away from this card. And to give you the grand scheme of what this card has done to my credit I started with a 720 and now I have a 582. And I have never been in the 500s with my credit ever.

I paid off a 6-month interest-free account in 35 days, after my account was paid off I was wanting to make another purchase. The company put a hold on my account due to it being paid off early and would not release my balance. Once I called I got no help from their call center obviously based out of the country, and when I got a supervisor they were absolutely no help either. They do not care for you or any other customers and they're only out for your money and nothing else. Absolutely the worst, and I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and find a different credit card. This is an absolute joke of a company.

Unfortunately, many companies have specialized credit cards through synchrony bank and I've had probably close to a dozen over the last 25 or so years, most recently through Discount Tire. My purchase was supposed to be 9 months no interest, according to their promotion however, all I got was a 25 day grace period. I have never had a positive experience with this bank, not ever. When will I learn?

They can and will change your limit depending on credit score and report.
Because of this unreliability, highly recommend staying away from them.
AVOID THIS COMPANY.
I have other accounts/ cards before, during and after this card. None had done what they did to me. Instead my other companies offered help, assistance and a sincere phone call once in awhile during my need.
This company instead will turn its head on you, even if you've been good with them.
Careened and unreliable.!

I got screwed

I charged tires at Mavis and the charge was put on my Texaco/Chevron card? On my receipt it has typed charge on Mavis credit card and this has cost me a significant rebate.

So I applied for credit for them over a year ago, got it, and called a few months later and asked if it would be ok to wait over a year to use the card and I was told yes. Less than a year later I learned the account was closed and told to reapply, but now they deny all promotional APR and put me in at 24% Apr. My credit score is better than it used to be, and never a late or missed payment. When I inquired they basically told me nothing they can do and they can't honor or reset the previous offer that I never used.

Getting in touch with a live person and getting any resolution to any question is near impossible. Several times once I was able to get a live person, they say hold on while I look into your account and they never come back. I have waited over an hour twice, only to not have the agent come back to the call. Also there always seems to be an issue with their credit card and the "promotional auto purchases". Never coded right and they start charging interest so you need to call to recode the purchase, which leads to them never coming back to the call. Not a reputable bank for anything.

I tried to call them to regain online access - it was sent a call centre in the Philippines. I said I did not consent to being recorded and the Filipino woman (clearly unempowered) said I will make a note of it. I asked to speak to her manager and waited about a half hour on hold - Synchrony recording the call all the time. I finally hung up. I think this company needs to be investigated by some black PI's and expose who their leaders are and then dox their home addresses. Maybe we could even get a dirty lawyer to file a class action suit against them but we all know what dirty lawyers suck on don't we - Synchrony Financials' largess. It's hopeless people - done game over.
