I am a REALTOR(R) and I have a bank owned listing that is a CASH ONLY deal. I received a call yesterday from a hopeful person who wanted to rent to own it. I told her it was for sale, and had to be cash only. She said, "but I found it on your site and it says it is rent to own" I told her I don't have a site like that. She gave me the site address MyRentToOwn.com and I looked it up, and sure enough there was my listing.
I also saw that they charge people a $1.95 for a 7 day trial and $49.95 per month. They are preying on people who can't get a bank loan and are not able to buy homes and are taking advantage of them. It is despicable.
People who are in a financial situation that they need to rent to own, can't afford to pay $49.95 per month for fake information.
I called the company - and they asked for my phone number first thing - I said, here it is, and I don't want to be put on a list, I want you to remove my listing from your site. The rep transferred me back into the loop.
I called again, and the new rep asked for my phone number, this time, I said, I am not giving you my phone number, I am a REALTOR, and you have one of my listings on your site, and it is not a rent to own. I need you to remove it. She said she doesn't have a way to do that. She could not transfer me to someone who could without having my phone number.
I have notified my MLS - and I am now about to call the Attorney General.

PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING SIGNING UP WITH MY RENT TO OWN -This company is a scam! They are just trying to get your credit card information by convincing you to sign up to view houses on their stie that you have to pay for. First they tell you it's less than $2.00, but that's only to view the site for one week. The truth is that they just want access to your credit card because they are going to start charging your card a monthly fee of $34.95 (I believe that was the amount, it may be more) I joined up a few days ago with the idea that I would cancel before my week was up. I just wanted to see if there were any listings in my area, but it wouldn't matter if there were because their is no rent to own process. They are not setting anyone up with rent to own homes. I actually found two listings I was interested in and after 2 days of phone calls trying to reach someone at My Rent To Own or even the realtor, the realtor finally called back and he informed me he knew nothing about My Rent To Own and that the house was for sale and currently being bid on. He was also the realtor for the other house I found.

I tried to talk to the My Rent To Own staff over the phone and not one person could tell me how the process works. They kept referring me other department or customer service or back to the Rent To Own listing site stating that I should contact the realtor or owner who is showing the property. I had no luck finding anyone who knew anything about Rent To Own. This is just so you will pay money every month to look at houses, by the way, the houses that are listed on My Rent to Own site are listings by other people that they are just copied onto their site. I hope this has deterred you from attempting to sign up with this company. They really are not here to help you into a home. I wish I would have done my research and read these reviews, I would never had signed up had I seen these. I am still trying to cancel my credit card, and may have to have my bank do it. Best of luck to all of you in your pursuit of a new home

I cancelled after only two days and they still charged my account $49.95. I cancelled because one of their "listings" was not listed by them. The realtor I talked to wanted to know if they were going to buy the home, and then RTO to me

Becarefull with these rent to own false agency they don't explain to you that after the $1.95 seven day trial they will charge you $49.95 from your debit card. I noticed that something was not right and I decided to check their status online and these people are doing illegal moves listing houses that are not for sale and on top of all that they want to steal your money. When you try to cancel the account with them they will give you several numbers to call and it will be almost impossible to close the account so becarefull. I'm going to give you a number to call that will put their business in jeopardy FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION *******357. If a lot of people complain about this situation they're business will be gone for good. FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION Speaks English or Spanish.

I was told i would be charged the 1.95 and would not be charged the $49.95 something told me to cancel my card but i believed the rep (never again) sure enough i was charged, trying to get my money bk was a headache i went through 6 different reps trying to get a manager or supervisor on the line, and of course they said there wasnt one available. I got hung up on 3x and redirect the other 3... Long story short the sixth person told me she could not refund my money, but then said she could do a 1 time courtesy refund. I've always been attracted to rent to own. However, you've only got bad reviews. One that stuck out was a customer thinking she was getting her own house and found out that someone was already staying there. My other problem is that the houses are listed, but are not suppose to be. I am looking for place to live asap; not a scam.

I am a real estate agent and was just contacted from someone wanting to rent to own one of my properties. I explained that the house was for sale and not rent to own. The lady informed me that it was listed on myrenttoown.com. I went on there site and it was indeed listed. I called the number posted on the website and got someone that didn't speak good english. When she found out what I was calling for, she hung up on me. I called back and got a person that spoke better english. I asked her how did she get the listing. She told me that the home owner or listing agent submits the information. I checked with the homeowner. Neither he nor I submitted any information of photos to this site. They are pulling listings from the MLS without permission. Then they are charging the public a membership fee of $49.95 per month to get incorrect information. I know of two other agents in my office that experienced the same issue. I suspect that none of there listings are rent to own. DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY WITH THEM!

Steve

This service takes a little work on the customer side. So don't sign up unless you want to find a home. This will help you a lot but it doesn't do all of the work for you.

This website is a total scam - do not give them any money! I have a property for sale on the local Multiple Listing Service and they copied my photos and information to use on their site. This is NOT a legitimate business.

I was called $#*!
June 11, 2016

I need housing immediately. I am a 68 y. O. disabled veteran living in Piedmont North Carolina. I am in the HUD-VASH program. I received a text from MyRentToOwn. I called. The man identified himself as Mike and did not give an agent number. Suddenly, he started pretending he could not hear me. He said, "Gotta get this $#*! off the phone." and other similar statements including the N word. The next agent identified herself and gave an agent number. I do not know Mike. I wonder how often he says, "$#*!."

I had to get a new debit card because I signed up for their week trial. I decided this site was not for me and called the number to cancel my account. Talked to two people that day who assured me I did not have an account and would not be charged. (They could not find my information in their system). Sure enough after a week my card was charged for a full membership. Called in again... they still couldn't find my information in their system... and after talking to eight different people at three different numbers (two of which took me to the same call center that barely spoke english) they still could not find my info... and I was actually told by a person that there was nothing they could do to cancel it and that they would continue to charge my card monthly without my permission. Went straight to my bank and got a new card and filed a dispute against the fradulant charge. Such a headache so my suggestion STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!

Have been waiting over 38 minutes while they get in touch with their supervisor - person who answered said I shouldn't have been charged for the service - but I still was - still waiting for the supervisor to answer at this moment.

Maybe it's just me but I really think paying rent to some old guy with a lot of money was a waste of my money. No matter who you are I think rent is a waste. So I used these guys and it worked. I mean, it worked for me because I found a place to live in and now I am going to end up owning the house when I am done. I did not find the house before, I only found it through them, so that is why I think it worked so well

Don't get suckered!
January 4, 2016

This 'company" steals listings off the internet and falsely advertise them on their site to fraudulently charge consumers $$ to look at listings that aren't even theirs. I had a lady call me to inquire what the rent to own terms were and was very upset to learn that the property wasn't a rent to own at all! I will be turning these thieves in to my local MLS and whatever Fed organization can chase these crooks down.
