I submitted my Account for Approval december of 2021 and my account still keeps asking me to submit. I put in a support request and was told it was being reviewed. It took several emails to get a email responce back saying "Unfortunately, it looks like your request to be an MIP on our site has been denied. This is not uncommon - a vast majority of applicants to be MIPs on the site are not accepted. Sorry about that!"
They told us that we will get money if we listen to the music in the fan match inbox, the fact is it is but there's only one music for your whole life. So just wait for it till you die and there's a trickery over here, the money you earn from listen to music can be pay out if you reach 20 dollars. Which is impossible, how can you reach 20$ if you got paid 0.1$ for a song and you receive only one nasty song for your whole life?.
I stumbled across this site. Long story short: I run an original hard-rock band and want to get (a) signed and (b) our music used in media to generate some income. Hey, don't judge me. I'm flat-arse broke, deep in debt, and some income would be nice.
I thought Music X-ray would be different, but I was disappointed. After signing up, their niche algorithmic music-analyzing software told me it had 'found a match' for one of my songs. Turns out it was a music reviewing magazine. Wow. I could have found that match without any fancy software. To submit a song for consideration for review by the magazine it was going to cost me $21.
Well, I'm flat broke (did I mention that?) and twenty one bucks I don't have.
What if I wanted to submit my song(s) for consideration in other opportunities? Each 'opportunity' generates a flat-fee for Music X-ray and the 'chance' of something for me.
Call me sceptical and jaded, but this seems to be nothing other than the same old 'submit for a fee and you might be considered' scam that has been parting money from broke musicians looking for a break for years.
Also, as an ex audio engineer, take a bit of advice about your promo video Music X-ray: Use some baffles to soak up the reverb; close mic, use a pop shield and run the whole lot through a de-esser. The spoken voice on your video - besides sounding completely scripted, bored and uninspiring - sounds like it was recorded in some spare room or garage somewhere. It sounds amateur, at best.
I am so sorry you had a bad experience with us. We really strive to provide more value than we get paid for and I hate it when we fall short. This video can give you some insights into how the site works. I hope it's helpful: https://youtu.be/v6eCkUBfOgE
Writing skill improve in review on their musicxray.com and I like a new songs is any songs are my lovely.
The website is very easy to navigate through. It catches ones attention and gives underrated artists a chance to prove themselves. Overall a very good average website
I'm not going to begin this review with 'SO' because this is actually a legitimate review. I submitted to to 6 opportunities on behalf of the artist I provide legal representation to. One was knocked back with feedback regarding the appropriateness has applicable to that opportunity-no harm no foul. Not smelling a rat yet. Nothing from 4 opportunities. Then submitted via Music x-ray to a Mr Woods. If you look at artists prior experience with these submissions over the past few years you will see that people have the same experience-you pretty much get word for word feedback-something trite about the production, the vocals, melody, but essentially just a precedent, pre determined response for anyone who submits ( that is my honest opinion). Lastly, the remaining 4 opportunities were not listened to within the stipulated 45 days. I contacted them. They then send you this message back-
Dear Artist,The music industry professional has listened to your song. The song you submitted...has been listened to by the industry professional... You submitted to the opportunity located here Unfortunately, while your song was considered for this opportunity, it has not been selected. While the industry professional did not choose your song for this opportunity, they did leave you the following message in regards to your submission:
Unfortunately, the MIP didn't listen to your song within 45 days so we'll be issuing you a credit for this submission. If you have questions, please contact: support.
So, they tell you its been listened to and rejected, and in the comments preceding, go on to tell you that they never actually listened to the song at all! As such they refund back to your music x-ray account and you have to request a payout, which we are still waiting for. Oh, and as an aside, I reported them to paypal and they refunded the submission made to Mr Woods as they agreed with my submission that it was 'a scam.' I would be happy to discuss music X-ray further with anyone should they require. In closing-don't know if their whole set up is dodgy, but that's been my experience. If nothing else their operations, interface, and communications are outdated, lack any transparency and are best avoided.
I submitted a song. The so-called producer charged $30 to listen to my song. You can see from his listing that he isn't very concise on what he's looking for, even references "content can be broad; no swearing or explicit sexual references." And his so-called feedback: "Not quite what we're seeking." I paid $6/word for "not quite what we're seeking." REALLY? REALLY? How about he tell me what he was specifically looking for, or what he liked or didn't like about the song? Again, ARE YOU F**KING KIDDING ME?! "NOT QUITE WHAT WE'RE SEEKING." $30 PLEASE! THEY ARE HELPING THESE PEOPLE RIP OFF ARTSITS.
This is what the so-called producer requested:
Chris Woods
Owner Manager - Alignment Management
A brand new female country pop star is currently looking for follow up singles to her hotly anticipated debut original music release. This artist has millions of followers across various platforms and her music has already achieved tens of millions of streams. Artist is in their early 20s so content can be broad from life to love, loss or liberty (or a combination of all!). Please note the content should be suitable for country radio so no swearing or explicit sexual references - if included make them clever and PG. This is country so we are willing to consider work tapes or demos just as much as fully produced out submissions as long as the quality is in the song we have no qualms about the quality of the submitted recording.
Below is the "feedback" I received for $30 to the producer and $5 to Music X-ray.
1. Not quite what we're seeking
Hey, man. Being a songwriter in regard to sites like MUSIC XRAY is tough. I've had several songs put on HOLD now with zero to cash in on in a few months. Got some "playlist" action, but that's not really what I was looking for.
I READ THIS REVIEW and totally agree with it--

WHOMEVER Chris Woods is--he's a p.o.s. And MUSIC XRAY should toss him from their "PRO" ad ranks. I got the same $30, "not quite what we're seeking" b.s.-----
If you don't have the time to review a song and make the effort to tell the writer A LITTLE SOMETHING about it/why it doesn't fit/whatever, you're making MUSIC XRAY look like a flat-out racket.
A real shame.
I am a multi-genre independent artist who would like to get sync placements or be considered for other opportunities. My main genres are HIP-HOP and Reggae.
I have used Music Xray more than once and I think the service deserves a minus star, if that were even possible. I promise to never use them again. They want you to spend $10.00 to have your song rated by 5 (Music Industry Professionals) MIPs. This is even before they would allow you to submit it for an 'opportunity'.
For some songs, the 5 MIPs never even rate the song. In the picture below, you will see where only 3 MIPs gave a rating and that was paid for 2 years ago. I will not get a refund for that payment though. This is ridiculously poor service. Then for the opportunities that you submit to, sometimes no one ever responds. See the other picture where the status is pending after two years.
Other users have complained that some MIPs names were used for opportunities without their knowledge. That may explain the failure to even receive a response. I will reach out to those MIPs whose opportunities I purchased to determine if they were legit in the first place and give an update.
It seems artists are being ripped off all over the internet. There are companies in the music industry whose main purpose is to give artists false hopes that their music would be considered by industry professionals. If my music is reviewed and it is not good, fine I accept that. But don't charge us for the service, knowing fully well that you can't even deliver on a promise to have the music reviewed in the first place. Imagine for more than 720 days an MIP can't give a rating. Concerning the receipt, I don't have the e-mail after two years. But the pics are from my account with Music Xray. I couldn't possibly have them if I didn't place an order.
I use other services like Submithub and Modernbeats.com.
This is fair feedback. We have suspended the fan product while we rebuild it, improve it, and address some of the legitimate complaints users were having. To be clear, this is only related to the fan-facing product called Fan Match. Music Xray's song submission and professional music filtering platform is operating as usual.
