Maintenance
May 10, 2023

Had an issue with the sink and they sent a guy named Joe DeAlcuaz. He was very nice and personable. He communicated with me the entire time while working on the issue and did a great job fixing it.

Horrible slumlords
December 11, 2023

It has been a nightmare since we moved in. First they moved us into a house where they knew the septic tank was collapsed. Their maintenance men told us they were advised to hide the issue. We had no bathroom for over 3 months before it was fixed. I had to contact the better Business bureau to even get a call. My current problem is my AC broke last month. The contract clearly states they are responsible for repairs. We are responsible for changing the filter which we do. On our rent statement there was an extra $600 tagged on for AC repairs. When we inquired after you are finally able to get through to a person that does not speak English, we were told that they believe the AC breaking was our fault so we had to pay or be evicted. They even charged us a late fee because we had no idea that there was an extra $600 added on. Can't get a call back proof of repair or anything. I suggest everybody who has a problem with this company email the president and their attorney at *******@amherst.com and *******@amhert.com. Even though there are no better than their company.

My leasing agent Amanda Carroll was to submit my request for inspection which was never done when she said it was and once it was done Feb 1st she emailed Feb 7th to cancel my application due to me not having an inspection scheduled in the 14 day period, I tired to reason with her to be patient and she refused since then I have had 2 additional inspections scheduled which to refused to go through as she advised she refunded my deposit, it is now March the 13th and still no deposit refunded they have been a total inconvenience, I wish I had never applied with this company, PLEASE BEWARE!

Run!
July 11, 2022

Today is moving day. I'm moving into a MS Renewal property today where I will NOT have water! Read that again, I won't have water. I have been trying to get a hold of someone at MS Renewal to get the water turned on. I've emailed. I've called and called and called. Hours spent trying to get a hold of someone at MS Renewal who will help me get the water turned on. Pasco Utiities told me on Wednesday of last week that MS Renewal is not the owner of the property and therefore, my lease is fraudulent. And whoever responds to these emails saying to email *******@msrenewal.com, I did! I forwarded the email from Pasco Utilities to *******@msrenewal.com and still I have no water at the property I paid nearly $3000 to move into. I can't get anyone to resolve this but Breanna and her leasing friends called me every single day when they wanted my business. Run, fast, to a company that takes care of their one job - homes! DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO MS RENEWAL!

If I can choose no stars I would. Do not use this company. They will give you the run around when it comes to sending you your deposit back. I wish I would've read the reviews before choosing them for rental. I received a letter in January (to my forwarding address) stating how much the check was for then in March when I haven't received my check and of course the excuse was they didn't receive a forwarding address. I provided my vacate letter with this information within the 30 days' notice as well as uploaded the letter in the portal. I have repeatedly called to get a status, same response a check is getting sent out to you, you should receive it within 15 days and turn around and ask me for my forwarding address at every call. Kennesha Williams supposedly the one requesting for a check to be sent out. I am going on 4 months of not receiving my check. I am sure if I took months to pay my rent, they would quickly evict me. I also had Maintenace issues and charges of HOA fees that were to the owner charged to my account. Just an overall horrible expressing I mean down to the house not being cleaned prior to move in.

Renting policys
March 15, 2024

I filled out an application for 1048 Megan Cross Lane in Kernersville NC. I qualified easily and was sent a proof of income online application. I started to fill it out and it asked me to log in to my bank with my user and password on an app I never used. I called your number and talked to someone who barely talked English and informed them that I was not going to do that. They then contacted the lease department, and I was told the same thing. That was strike 1. I looked online for an office near me and found one in Winston Salem. Drove out there and found an empty locked office. That was strike 2. I then looked online for information on your company and read in black and white that you would never ask for bank information. That was strike 3. I also found out that my daughter rents through you and she just gave pay stubs for proof. I had to cancel my application for obvious reasons. I can't see anyone giving you that kind of information online, so I'll look to see if it's still available when my lease ends in July. I thank you for your attention...

May 10th we had an awful hail storm and just a mile away there was a tornado. Roofers checked out my neighbors place on the 12th, did a spot check on ours and I immediately reported that the roof suffered damage. Since then, 10 maintenance requests, 6 escalations and NO RESOLVE! Since the original maintenance request, there is now standing water on the lower level where all the bedrooms and bathrooms are located. The floor is buckling and seeping water, and mold, black mold, is growing. Some drywall they had a contr remove, and he didn't clean up, or try to dry the floors, and the walls are still open. The tile in the master bathroom started falling off and the tile backer board is rotted and full of black mold. The sump pump runs 24/7, and we have had more and more rain. Yesterday it wad rain plus hail. Oh, and today they sent me a threatening email saying I will be evicted in 10 days. I have the receipts, I know my rights, I have sat on hold for over an hour, and I have threatened to call every major news station and every housing board in every town they operate in. I am beyond furious!

Add on: this issue has been put into escalation more than once, so having an "advocate" say thank you for your patience, is really the most maddening, condescending response that could be offered. Action speaks louder than words!

I have been late on my rent but not more than 30 days. I have always caught back up. I Have had some financial issues and it DOESNT help that I get nickle and dimed and my rent has increased 3 times in 3 years - Last month I was short 100 dollars on the rent which was their 100 dollar fee for being late to begin with. They charged me a 350 dollar fee and put it in "eviction status"... I get I was late... but charging someone 350 dollars when they already are struggling is predatory. I also again. Was not more than 30 days late.which in missouri is the MINIMUM to begin eviction process - As far as I know nothing has been actually filed, but this makes it impossible to get caught up in good standing. You ask for help and you get nothing. For 3 months I was lied to about past fees that they were supposed to take care of... They didnt because my account "Wasnt paid in full"...I couldnt pay my account in full because of the past fees... Its a vicious cycle. Took them 8 months to fix a cracked sinking patio in the back yard which made us look like complete trash. This is a nice neighborhood and we have to look like a bunch of hoosiers. Clearly this company is making money hand over fist...especially with teh 350 dollar fees they charge people - This wasnt in my first lease.and then they started doing it year 2... What was I supposed to do? Go some where else in a housing market that is awful? I get the stipulation is there...but again... when you are milking every bit of money out of me. How am I supposed to have a chance.,

We received a letter that our lease was up on March 28th which we already knew. We moved out and I made a courtesy call to inform Mainstreet that we had moved out. The lady on the phone had an attitude when I mentioned getting back my deposit. Fast forward to today I received a letter with all these bogus fees. Not only did they take my deposit, but they're also saying I still owe $1900! MS charged me for the month of April even though we were already gone, crazy claims like $200 for blinds, $500 for painting, and other ridiculous charges. I paid over $800 for junk removal and cleaned the house before leaving. I luckily took video of the house before leaving my key and I will gladly go to court if I have to. Mainstreet will not get another penny out of me! Sidenote- I thought when a tenant moves out and another moves in that carpet cleaning, painting, etc is automatic. How is it the responsibility of a prior tenant? Tenants aren't professional maintenance men. Tenants are to clean the house and fix any major damages before leaving. We're not gonna have the house professionally made over for the next tenant. That Mainstreet is your job and I'm not paying for that. It's all good with MS until you move out is my advice to anyone looking to lease.

Okay so we are a military family. We have PCSed 4 times now. From the day we moved into this house 1/3/23 there was water damage. When we looked at it and put $2700 (deposit & first month's rent) we physically looked at the hous, it was not like this!
2 days we couldn't use water at all.
Now 8 days later they still haven't come back to fix the walls and floor that is now growing mold.
Main street renewal stated on Monday the 9th that a "team " to fix the issues and someone needed to be here for the repairs. Husband is already back and The 9th was supposed to be my first day of my job. So obviously I had to request from my new employer if I could start later.
Monday the 9th rolls around no "team"
Tues, no team...Wednesday no team!
They are real fast to take your money but will not fix any issues, even in an emergency.
Thr basement is now moldy, my kid has asthma and this company has been absolutely no help!
Even called corporate in Austin TX to get this escalated quickly
(since I cant start work and MOLD IS A HEALTH HAZARD)!
And still no help! Hamilton stated he "escalated the issue " but no one has been here to fix anything!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
I am now at the point of getting lawyer and getting away from this awful company.

To all the tenants and applicants. Here are some tips you really need to follow. MSR directs all your calls to a call center in center america, where the people barely knows what to do with your problems. Customers reps are also the ones in charge to contact the vendors. If the temperature at your home is higher that 40 degrees it won't be considered an emergency, it has to be lower. There are no phone numbers to contact maintenance, lease agents or even the branch (believe me, it's true). Lockboxes actually can be opened by the customers rep. They do have the correct codes. Plus customers reps know when a house is taken or not, or if your application was approved or denied. Leaks are no emergencies so do not waste your time calling, bug infestations are not emergencies (do not waste your time calling), no hot water IT IS NOT AN EMERGENCY (do not waste your time calling), MSR does not fix fireplaces. For MSR emergencies are: temperature lower than 40degrees, no water, no electricity and big leaks. If your toilets are backing up, that is not and emergency (I know, but is true).

So, do not lease any of these houses. Love yourself and save some time. Kisses.

I have been renting a home through Mainstreet renewal going on a year in a half now since moving here from Michigan. I've always owned a home for over 10 plus years which I prefer, and this was my first time renting a home and it was primarily due to wanting to get an idea of what area would be best to make a purchase in due to not being that familiar with Georgia yet. However, renting through this company has been a terrible experience! The homes are beautiful but definitely overpriced for one and for the amount of money I pay monthly to live here when something breaks or is no longer working it takes them months to address the issue. This home flooded in August during hurricane Idalia when we had heavy rain for two days in a row and water came into the family area fireplace, so clearly something wasn't sealed correctly, and a septic tank was needed in the backyard. The way the backyard is every time it rains it looks like a river so one should have already been in place before we got here and what should have been an urgent matter was put off for months before someone came to fix the problems. I had to contact a contractor on my own to get the water extracted and avoid further damage. Most minor problems I handle on my own due to how long they take to repair things. Most recently the electric stove that is in the home caught fire while using the broiler and things could have gotten really bad, but I managed to put the fire out and have not had a working stove since October 19,2023, and it's now November 30,2023 and still no one has been out to fix it. To make matters worse I checked the status of my maintenance request only to find out they cancelled the request, like really why? I will definitely not be renewing my lease here and seeking to find another place for my children and I to live because why continue to pay what I'm paying through a rental company that does not care when I could be putting this equity into my own home, never again! Renters beware if I could rate this company a zero I would!

WE REGRET MOVING IN!
March 15, 2023

DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY!
I would give zero stars if possible. This is by far the absolute worst experience I have ever had with any rental company or landlord situation in my life. I understand that sometimes it takes time to repair or replace things in a rental home, but communication is ZERO with these people and they DO NOT CARE about their tenants. Upon move-in on 2/1/23, our home was NOT move-in ready. Our refrigerator was broken, our dishwasher leaking, house not cable-ready and NO KEYS, only a crappy "smart lock" with half-dead batteries that only works every other time you use it. We immediately submitted maintenance requests, which turned out to be pointless, because it does not matter how many times you submit a request or call them, THEY DON'T CARE. They will give you some bunk response about how they're "Sorry for your experience" and they're "escalating this situation," or "sending an email to scheduling," and those are all lies. I'm sure they will respond with the same empty response to this review, because apparently they have the time to respond to reviews but not to schedule service technicians for the people who are paying them. I'm sure the poor people who answer the phones in the Philippines don't deserve my anger, but there is no direct line to contact someone who DOES deserve it. This place is despicable and we regret moving here without doing more research first.

I have had a billing/utility issue going on for almost 2 months now. I have received multiple emails stating we are going to get sent to collections and our renters insurance will be cancelled due to these charges. We've called 6x and sent 6 months of utility bills stating we pay through our third party provider and don't owe the money. We have continued to pay rent but will not pay the charges we do not owe.
Over the last 2 months, we've spoke to 7 different people and received 4 automated emails stating the utility department will review. There has been absolutely NOTHING on the MSR side to help us get this resolved. This is pretty clearly plain negligence and simply not caring on the part of Main Street Renewal. Beyond frustrated as we have taken every possible step we can to get this fixed and no will do anything to help us. Renter's be warned. Highly recommend looking at this companies online reviews. It's evident that they do a lot of money grabs with no intention of rectifying wrongs. We've contacted the resident customer service team and *******@msrenewal.com and heard nothing back outside of automated messages.

So back in march i put in a app for a home and paid 120 app fee only to get a email the next day after they took my money saying i couldnt apply to this property because we are on section 8 and the house isnt ready yet... ok. Was then told they refunded my money after arguing with the voucher program person for this company, who by the way is VERY unprofessional. A couple days later spoke to someone else who stated they would keep our app and our fee to put toward another house(LIES), every house we found was not ready. But thats not all... spoke to several differnt people because thats what they do... who informed us the refund was mailed out as recently as yesterday... and STILL have not received a refund... This company lies, steals and misleads potential renters... Nevermind the fact that 90% of they reviews are horrible. I didnt look at reviews until last week and now im convinced mainstreet renewal is a scam company. You can not reach corporate and nobody at this company is capable of being honest... Please do not give them your money. They will take it and give u the run around. $120 isn't much to some but to me it is and i will be contacting a lawyer for theft and false advertisement. I have all my email corespondence and will just see them in court.
