My son races motocross & was in an accident that broke his back and shattered his hips. He was hospitalized for 10 days, had 2 major surgeries, & hospital bedridden for 2 months. He was out of work for 5 months and really needed help! He was 21 & had just moved into his 1st house the month before. However, he received nothing! After his application was approved, they supposedly worked for 90 days to raise the $, but closed his application because they only raised 48% = $1095. He received nothing!

Modest needs asks for way too much including personal pictures. Even when application is approved, then the daily anxiety of hoping and praying their donors fund your "already approved request/application". Frankly, if you are the one in need of food, rent or self sufficiency support... in any kind of financial bind, you do not have 90days of psychological torture and anxiety to wait for help promised in the application. I sincerely suggest Modest needs revisit their method of funding, currently it is inhumane.

I would give zero stars if I could...

Modest Needs is a joke. Do NOT waste your time granting them all your personal information! I spent hours getting them requested documents for them to deny me help twice. According to them, I'm not a veteran, I'm not disabled, and I don't need help. They're absolutely ridiculous. Please don't waste your time. It's not worth the disappointment.

My application was denied because they claim I didn't meet the deadline when I have proof that all of my documents were uploaded on time, I guess they pick and choose who they want to help! Very disappointed in this company

Lol this "charity" is laughable. I just had the owner call and cuss me out because I emailed and asked where my rent check was going.

Modest needs issued a check for my landlord without telling me where it was going. My landlord has thousands of buildings. And then proceeded to tell me I was scamming them because I'm not currently behind on my rent. But I was when I filed out an application for help two months prior.

The fact that Keith Taylor called me and cussed me out just shows what a joke this "charity" if you can even call it that is. The never sent the money to my landlord they are pocketing it for themselves. They don't really help people, but they do like to cause problems.

This organization is a joke, it's more like a go fund me site. They claim they help in emergencies, but in rality they put your application up like a go fund me and donors donate. There are so many people who are still waiting. I will be evicted before I ever get help, along with many others. They make you jump throug hoops for nothing. What a joke. This place needs to be taken down.

Charity To Help?
March 2, 2022

I agree with hassles and added stress as someone posted. I was accused of actually typing my own letter from the prior employer. They said company letter head, which is what I asked the prior boss to do. He did the letter, but typed everything himself. I replied to the so called customer help that I would not dare forge a letter. Still, continuous messages saying missing docs. If they are a Charity to help, why not help?!? What is their benefit of having people going back and forth with documents?! If they are not legit they should be removed! People really are in need of assistance. It is very cruel to have people feel they have support when they don't. As of today, I still logged in to see the "status" & I'm still seeing needing something else. Last week it said "Funding Pending" now this week I'm missing docs!? I am so sorry I uploaded my docs, I'm so sorry I just saw these reviews, & it's scary to have applied for assistance with docs when clearly they are scammers! Again, what's their purpose? Very concerning.

I would not call them a scam but they do not use good sense or good judgment when making decisions in terms of who they will donate to. Partly I feel that it was very discriminatory because I don't have children. I was in need of $700 to take care of something the would would have been a one time request nothing I'm going but right now I'm having a real hard time financially because of a job loss and I am homeless. They turned me down because they said I did not make enough money... Wow I just think that is CRAZY! Hey would not ever recommend anyone using them and if anyone were to ever ask me about them I will tell them I would stay away. I was really counting on their help and I was spent the last 2 days which is when I found out 2 days ago come up just bawling my eyes out because I am in such a jam and I don't know what to do and I turned to them.
I have not always been in a situation like this I need to ask for help and I will rebound soon period of along when I applied I was planning on once I get back on my feet to made donations on a regular basis to them to help other people but I'm not going to do that anymore. I will donate my money elsewhere. I just can't believe had my income is too low to get help, who ever heard of that?

I applied for financial assistance due to my child support stopping and was about to lose my car and home (I rent). I submitted everything they asked for. Nothing was good enough. I submitted a clear photo and then they need one where my son is looking directly into the camera (the photo I sent was him looking at me). Even though I sent my lease from 2017, they now want to see a lease RENEWAL. I don't plan on RENEWING MY LEASE. Like, WHY would they require me to renew my lease? I even sent in over a year's worth of copies of rent checks cashed and proof that my landlord owned the home - the name written on the checks. But you know what DID happen? After three years of some old creditor stalking me, they found my latest address! I think this SCAM company 'Modest Needs' probably used my information to sell it to them! Do NOT fall for this scam! And please don't donate! I wasted about 10 hours of gathering information, scanning it, faxing it, emailing it, responding to their requests, etc. I think they actually make up the people that they claim really DO get help!

I am in a financial bind because my brother died suddenly and I fell behind on a couple bills because I had to take on spoke of his responsibilities and had to be paying my mother's rent as well as mine. I needed $585 or get my rent current. I sent in all the requested documents. Because I was dendinf money to my mom overseas I sent the remittance receipts as proof. They were over $1000. Modest needs denied my application claiming that payments on the regular bill with which I requested Modest Needs' help were substantially past due before I incurred the "unusual expense" I mentioned in my application, and / or that the cost of the unusual bill is substantially less than the regular bill with which you've requested our assistance and should not have resulted in an inabiity to remit payment for this regular bill. They also said that they cannot consider my application for assistance at this time because the extenuating circumstance (payment of car registration) does not justify the much larger expense i need help with. I don't know where that information about car registration came from as it was not mentioned in my application. I am so confused because I don't even understand the basis on which I was denied.

I initially applied to modestneeds.org back in March of 2021, and was informed to provide all of the necessary information in terms of (Demographics) in order to receive assistance? I did so on March 23,2021, and was denied due to me not having a picture to follow? Afterwards, during the evening of the same day, I then re-applied for assistance only to add on a photo to my profile. Thereafter, I kept receiving daily notifications to indicate that the company was reviewing my application for me to get assistance while in fact acknowledged that after receiving all documentation, the company ruled out as me being a great candidate for assistance. Since then I still received notifications that still indicated that I am currently still being reviewed under a "Qualified" status and that I would be kept updated on a daily basis? Overall with this issue while being off from work for 3 months as I provided all accurately detailed information to Modestneeds.org along with them expressing to me that I was qualified for assistance, I feel that my application was based on them being "Discriminatory" because of me being single as other applicants were assisted due to them having families, so with that being said, I feel that the only way that you will get assistance, is if you have a big family, but if you're single do not count on getting any assistance from this company as it is a waste of time. Applicant (*******) I DID IT ON MY OWN

Hello first of all I want to start off by saying it's a lot of red flags when it comes to Modestneeds.Org one being you can't physically talk to anybody it has to be through email only you call the phone lines and nobody answers then you have to basically send your photo of you and your family and wait until the money is funded 90 days or so when you need direct help I never known any organization nor charity that has you go through these kind of steps just to get the grant money and then you have to post a testimonial and wait two more weeks to get the money this is a scam y'all wake up I'm going to do whatever at it takes to make sure that this website is shut down because people are really sick people really need help people really are having covid-19 crisis and for people to play with somebody and their livelihood like that is just not right what so ever I felt so many red flags when reaching out for help to these people charities do not do this what so ever an basically if no body donates your out of help what real charities actually does this no this is complete bulshyt an I really feel sorry for the ones who actually need help right away an basically have to exploit your family as a charity case an no body will help you do your research people an stay woke.

I'm on here trying to see if I can seek out any help any hand that is willing to help me and my son to get our apartment. I have a job I just let go of my second one due to the fact that I am just getting out of the hospital with a condition that I have multiple sclerosis, it is a nerve disease that causes me to get paralyzed tingly feeling. I am just now getting back to a place where I'm able to get back to work and get on my feet two weeks ago. My ex girlfriend kicked me out and took all my clothes, all my belongings, I am currently staying with family at the moment terribly, but I am truly trying to get my own place. I am trying to move into this apartment is going to cost me at least about $1800-$1900 to move into an apartment right now that's for the deposit the holding fee and everything my job I get paid every two weeks and seeing that I'm bout to get back to work. I am only getting two days six hour shifts not getting too many hours until I am fully 100% back, my doctor released me to get back to work so in approximately maybe another two weeks I'll be able to pick my hours back up, but as of right now, I am in a die need of some help to just get the start to move into an apartment, I need to get at least about 1900 to 2000 just to get everything going lights deposit and moving everything if there's anyone out there that can make a donation that can help me and my son so we can get back on our feet and we appreciate everyone for reading this and everyone that has help and is going to help. God bless you and I hope God truly blessed you.
